There is need for opposition political parties to work with government-Nawakwi

Share

Forum for Democracy Development (FDD) President Edith Nawakwi says there is need for opposition political parties to work with government to address the various challenges the country is experiencing.

Ms. Nawakwi says politicians have a role to play in retaining the country’s national values and morals.

She says opposition political parties can work together with government despite having divergent ideas.

Ms. Nawakwi says what divides the country are politicians who want power at all costs and end up painting a bad picture about the country to the world that opposition political parties cannot work together.

She says for opposition political parties showing up at Parliament during President Lungu’s address shows the country’s character of unity and coming together to find solutions to issues the country is facing.

Ms. Nawakwi was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka today.

  1. We know this song with Nawakwi …she is like the hungry boy Tayali who is married to the young naive Ethiopian girl only that she times it exceptionally well just after General Elections

  4. Respect her opinion. She has spoken sense. HH the s@t@n1st can never say anything good about government. I have a strong conviction hh will never go to state house unless he is delivered.

Wait, hh will hold a press conference to condemn Edgar’s address to mother Zambia

  7. If FDD has a member of Parliament , then she doesn’t understand what government is,the legislature (Parliament) is one arm of government, so all those MPs in that house are just one arm of the government, then there is the executive and the judiciary, is civic education that difficult for mama nawakwi? I also laugh at people who say the pf government,

  8. How?
It’s this muselela kwakaba which has dwindled your political fortunes!
How do you work with people who don’t respect the sacred law of the land? How do you work with people who have corruption scandals every day?

Opposition can not work with a GRZ that brutalizes them and denies them rights under democracy

  12. @ Henry, while I could respect Ms .Nawakwi’s opinion it makes no sense for me in that being an opposition party leader she can speak for herself and the party she leads. It’s for the party in government to identify the need to engage with the opposition for cross pollination of ideas that would help national management efforts. Experience has revealed that the party in government has disdain for the opposition parties leaving me to wonder from which angle Ms Nawakwi is approaching this matter! Anyway Ms. Nawakwi is a spoiler and an EP (Enemy of Progress) among the opposition. Note how she springs up from hibernation when elections are nigh and campaigns are afoot! In all her utterances there are limitless aspersions aimed at disparaging colleagues in the opposition camp! What does she…

  13. contd …. really stand for? Her relevance in Zambian politics is no more than to give credence that there is some semblance of accommodation for female participation at whatever level

  14. Iye imwe. Nawakwi is a very big farmer. She is the largest producer of bananas and one of the largest producers of vegetables and tomatoes. Guys please let’s learn to be circumspect before we make unnecessary criticisms. She is expressing her opinion and others label her as “njala”. I don’t understand some of our compatriots. Everything is seen as negative. It is true, opposition and ruling parties are both representing Zambians and should work together. Challenge is usually with ruling parties. We/they don’t give room for opposition parties to play their role.

  15. Following the collapse of Legana Sausage business, we can understand the desperation for cash to settle lingering liabilities! The only sure way to raise money as an opposition political party leader is to become a spoiler for the opposition and doing the dirty work for the ruling party!
