Chitotela wants People who want to Challenge President Lungu at the convention be identified and dealt with.

Minister of Tourism and Pambashe Member of Parliament is, allegedly on behalf of his constituency, petitioning the ruling Patriotic Front’s highest organ, the Central Committee, to open the party’s Presidential Nominations in the month of May for only a period of 30 days so that the party can easily identify those that are opposed to the sole candidacy of the incumbent President Edgar Lungu and only for a period of 30 DAYS

Speaking at the Lusaka Patriotic Front Youth Rally, Thursday, Mr. Chitotela petitioned the Central Committee, through the Deputy Secretary-General Mrs. Mumbi Phiri, to open and close the Presidential nominations way ahead of schedule of the 10th to 12th July 2020 PF General Conference, adding that the opening up will allow the party to know who is behind Lusaka Lawyer and State Counsel John Sangwa’s push to take President Lungu’s eligibility issue to the constitutional court.

Mr. Chitotela said that the opening up of nominations is the only way the party can cleanse itself against those working to undermine the 2021 candidature of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

“I am a bearer of a message from the Patriotic people of Pambashe who have asked me to deliver their message. There is no way you can allow the PF Presidential Nominations to open and close during the General Conference. How else would you expose those who are working with Sangwa(po) to undermine the candidature of His Excellency, President Edgar Chagwa Lungu,” said Hon Chitotela.

“If there is a man the entire opposition in Zambia is afraid of facing in the Ballot, it is President Edgar Chagwa Lungu. And that is why they are working to question his 2021 candidature because had he been a weaker opponent, they would have ignored him all the way to the Ballot. They are very scared! And that is why we should expose them before the General Conference.”

However, Ruling PF deputy secretary-general Mumbi Phiri has said that even those who will declare presidential interests at the 11th hour are free to challenge Presidency Edgar Lungu for the party leadership at the general conference.

Speaking to the media, Ms Phiri said those wishing to challenge President Lungu would not be harassed at the conference. She said, for now, she was not aware of anyone that had expressed interest to challenge the President, but even last-minute announcements would still be welcome.

“It’s their democratic right whether they show interest in the 11th hour, that is their democratic right because the convention doesn’t stipulate as to when you could.

  1. Yayayaya! PF kwena. ‘We are the most democratic party in Zambia, we always have conventions to elect out leaders, unlike the opposotion.
We have agree on Edgar Lungu being the sole candidate, but we want people to be free to challenge him.’
Huh? Make it make sense please!
Is the proposed convention simply to fulfil constitution requirements of intra party elections?
Allow KBF to stand, and let the voting be secret ballot, unlike what ( ironically at that) KBF allowed in the ‘election’ of Lungu in Kabwe by show of hands.
Anyways, ati some guy broke my heart, all men are limo limo, tuleya tulekula.

  3. These guys are scared of there being a coup at the convention and somebody else taking over so they want to scare anyone from challenging the incumbent and even if there is someone brave enough to challenge then they want to sort them out so they are blocked from the convention.

  4. Ba Chitotela it appears the arrest and charges they slapped you with were very effective ai. You have been tamed nicely, you now say whatever you are required to say without the intrusion of your conscience – of which you have none.

  5. Has the Zambian psyche been seared so badly that they would actually vote for the PF in the next elections? I am actually shuddering at the thought ka…

  6. Fake news taking statements out of context. Do not believe the hype unless you see an official statement signed by pf itself

  7. Even senior members in PF know that Edgar isn’t a suitable candidate, he will be difficult to sell even if he has stopped ka jemasoni. Even the debate about his eligibility has come up because he has failed and many think he shouldn’t push his luck. Right thinking PF members must ignore Kaoma Chitotela. The people who suffered for PF in its initial stages have been sidelined by vultures. I challenge Bwalya Ng’andu to save PF from these vultures. Uncle Jimmy don’t be quiet when Johnny Come Too Late Fellas speak like that. Tell them how much you sacrificed. No one wants to continue with the status quo and there’s nothing new that Edgar will bring to the table. He has already given us his best and unfortunately it isn’t good enough. Let him not sink the boat he didn’t help build. Let…

  8. Kit0tela only thinks with his belly, gluteus maximus & KNOWS once his Corrupt protector (J0na Mukula -ma Whiskey MSWATI 1 of Chawama) goes, Kit0tela’z Corruption cases will be rebooted to factory settings, back to the courts & this time a conviction will prevail.
    MULANDU SU WOLA!!
    Lastly P.F, KUYABEBELE!

  9. Yet they have been at the forefront of pointing fingers at others. Intimidation, cleansing and a complete lack of any civilized values and the tenets of the rule of law, are the hallmark of the PF – bordering on primitivity of the highest order. They are a species (as clearly portrayed by the likes of Chitotela, Kampyongo, Lusambo etc.) who have not evolved fully, but are flapping about in their embryonic form, in an attempt to try and fit into humanity, albeit abusively and corruptly.

  10. This boot-licking foooool Chitotela ought to be ashamed of himself. Where’s democracy in your party, if you’ve to be threatening your party members for wanting to exercise their democratic right to challenge Lungu? And when we say corrupt Lungu and his minions are dictators, you accuse us of telling lies. You hypocritical fooooools. Most likely corrupt Lungu supports Chitotela’s threats. If I were a PF member I would think twice about supporting Lungu, who exhibits dictatorial tendencies through sycophants like Chitotela.

  11. I have read the PF constitution over and over regarding the election of the party president I am yet to see a clause that speaks about “early identification of presidential candidates within a 30 day window to cleanse the party”. MCS must be turning in his grave

    • @Jeff does that surprise you really? This is a government anchored on lawlessness and total disregard for the law. But take heart their payback time is fast approaching. PF themselves know very well they cannot win a free and fair election. It is not only the economy of this country they have killed but every aspect of good governance. No wonder why Harry Kalaba saw sense in walking out of this mess. What a change we voted for in 2011!

  12. Ba KZ, every Jim and Jack is at liberty to issue a statement in PF. Even cadres from the streets do that and they have the party’s blessings.

  13. No Mr CHITOTELA , that is dividing the Party . If any one who want to stand against President Lungu is considered to be working with J Sangwa, then why calling for Conversion. Stop ifya mu UNIP.

  14. Trump is a sole candidate & you are not making comparisons. Trump has been holding ralies since day 1 in office & you make no comparisons. Zambians, dalo

  15. At Bongo, the link above (if the moderators allow it) shows you the people challenging Trump for Republican Presidency. Please don’t be a dildo!

  16. Just where hell in Zambia is Pambashe? For one I thought Pambashe was a village in Kolwezi in Katanga! Anyway they are all the same people, Mushota Remmy was a stinking thief and he was from Pambashe too.

  17. It is easy to understand Chitotela’s sentiments. He survived the corruption case, didnt he? I mean, the guy was driving in his GRZ SUV from his office to attend his trial…..where else in the world have you seen that? Even the presiding magistrate was shell shocked, during the trial they were probably not addressing him as “the accused” , but as “Hon Chitotela”..

  18. IF THERE IS ANY DECENCY LEFT IN SOME PF MEMBERS THEN CAN THEY HUMBLY REQUEST THEIR PRESIDENT TO KINDLY STEP DOWN AND THEY WILL SEE THE AMOUNT OF RESPECT THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE AND THE WORLD AT LARGE WILL SHOWER HIM.WHICH PEOPLE IS HE GOING TO RULE IF THE MAJORITY OF ZAMBIANS HAVE REJECTED HIM???IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THEY HAVE AMASSED AND EMBEZZLED HUGE SUMS OF TAX PAYERS MONEY AND THEY WANT TO BE SHIELDED.TWO WRONG DO NOT A RIGHT!!!

  19. Did Mumbi Phiri respond to RCK directly or she did so in indirect reference to RCK’s outrageous insinuations? In any case, its a progressive stance from the Deputy Secretary General of the PF. Such are the virtues difficult to trace in PF. its a refreshing position away from the usual woh-woh-woh-woh-woh-woh-woh-woh! Congratulations madam D/SG!
