Zambians don’t Deserve Unanswered Questions: Who is behind the violence in Muchinga Province?

Share

We must always remember to make effort to search for answers as we continue to ask questions concerning our country, Zambia.

The continued back and forth argument between the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) and the Patriotic Front (PF) over a recent incident in Muchinga province should not leave Zambians with unanswered questions.

PF: United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres attacked people and the police in Muchinga. UPND: The Patriotic Front (PF) cadres attacked us.

Who should the people believe?

A few months ago, Muchinga Province Patriotic Front Chairman, Alex Simuwelu declared the province a no-go area for UPND President Hakainde Hichilema.

I wish people asked Mr. Simuwelu then, what would happen to Hakainde Hichilema if he stepped his feet into Muchinga Province?

The answer is clearly what people are witnessing today.  Each time Hakainde Hichilema steps his feet in Muchinga, there is a problem; his visit is greeted with violence.

The police should look deeper into the matter. They should summon both the UPND and the PF for questioning.

Mr. Simuwelu should be considered suspect number one on this matter.

He didn’t repent after declaring Muchinga Province a no-go area for UPND president Hakainde Hichilema but did what I can call a reaffirmation.

I invite people to visit a column article, “Disrespecting the President in UPND Strongholds: PF warns of the same treatment to UPND Leaders” published on July 5th, 2020 on Lusaka Times by Alex Simuwelu himself.

“We will photocopy the Monze formula and energetically use it against their retrogressive Opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema” wrote Mr. Simuwelu in response to President Edgar Lungu unfriendly welcome by Monze residents in Southern Province.

With that, does one need a 100-level psychology class to conclude that Mr. Simuwelu and the PF is behind the violence that greets the United Party for National Development (UPND) President whenever he is in Muchinga?

Don’t tell me you are still confused about who to believe.

  1. THERE IS NOTHING TO HIDE HERE WITH THIS QUESTION ” WHO IS WHO”. THE DIRECT ANSWER LIES IN THE PRESIDENT. IF PRESIDENT LUNGU INSTRUCTED TO ARREST WHO DOES THE VIOLENCE BY TAMING HIS PEOPLE, NOTHING LIKE UPND OR PF FIGHTS CAN ARISE. ALL PROBLEMS RISES AND FALLS ON LEADERSHIP AND THE BIG LEADER IS PRESIDENT ECL. MWANAWASA MANAGED TO TAME MMD VIOLENT CADRES BY SAYING IF THIS CONTINUES THEN AM NOT A PRESIDENT.
IF THE PRESIDENT KEEPS QUIET WHEN PEOPLE CITIZEN ESPECIALLY WHERE THEY EVEN BOASTS BY SAYING THIS IS A PF BEDROOM THEN IT MEANS HE IS THE ONE WHO SENDS THEM.
HOW MANY PF KNOW VIOLENT CADRES HAVE BEEN EVER BEEN ARRESTED? IN SHORT, ITS THE PRESIDENT WHO IS BEHIND ALL THE VIOLENCE

  2. The author could be right. Mr. Simuwelu should be transferred to another province. If violence continues in Muchinga after transfer, will prove the author wrong.

  3. Let me try again, LT is going against me again because PF ministers are the worst and laziest. Here is my advice to Ba Edgar:
-Kampyongo is inconsistent, he should be arrested and charged in Simusamba’s court who will pardon him just like Chilufya.
I think the worst case is Kampyongo’s employees mistreatment of Carol Kambwili and daughter. Can ZP treat the lunatic Mumbi Phiri in that way?
How many time Kaizer slapped officers, how many times was he arrested? Just to remind you, we fired Kaizer, it is not Edgar who did.

  4. Any person who illegally declares a no-go area for a citizen should be arrested and charged with inciting hatred and behaviour likely to disturb the peace as well as threatening violence. This is the kind of rhetoric that preceded the Rwanda genocide. I really despair of Zambia under Edgar Lungu. If Edgar Lungu had been Zambia’s first President there would either have been no Zambia or he would have taken Zambia the same way Kamuzu took Malawi.

  5. There was a motion to ban party with violent cadres. Nothing addressed … meaning the country is degenerating to lawlessness that will become uncontrolable, hence leading untold misery

  6. Meanwhile the gassers were paid lots of money by the dictator, and the gassing case is quietly swept under the carpet

  7. THE ONE BEHIND ALL THESE IS THE PRESIDENT. THE PRESIDENT IS THE FATHER OF ALL. IF HE SAYS I DO NOT WANT THIS, ALL WILL ACCEPT. ONLY WHEN HE FEELS HE IS NOT A PARENT LEST WILL HE ALLOW THESE VIOLENT PF CADRES STOP.
FOR EXAMPLE WHAT HAPPEND AT THE COURT YESTERDAY BLOCKING HH, BEATING UP OF CHISHIMBA KAMBWILI’S DAUGHTER, MISTREATING OF MRS KAMBWILI BY THE POLICE WHEN HE HIMSELF THE PRESIDENT IS A LAWYER AND A MAN OF PRINCIPLES? AHAHAHAHA, THEN YOU SAY WHO IS WHO?
    WE ALL REACT WHEN PROVOKED.
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ZAMBIA LIKE ANGOLA WHERE OPPOSITION AND RULING CADRES EAT TOGETHER, RUB SHOLDERS AND JOKE WITH ONE ANOTHER MPL FLAG IS RAISE UNITA’S FLAG IS AT OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD, NATIONAL BROADCASTING COVERAGE IS BALANCED.
REMEMBER ANGOLA WENT TO WAR FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS BUT NOW THEY…

  8. Even aslaypeople at law, we all know that threatening violence is an offence. So why was Simuwelu not summoned by police? These are the inconsistencies which are denting police impartiality.

  9. The 3 persons that have the oath to maintain peace and order in the are 1. Inspector General of Police, 2. Minister of Home Affairs & 3. The President of the Republic of Zambia. These 3 are responsible for law and order in the country. If they have failed to contain violence and lawlessness from any quarter, it doesn’t matter the source, then we have a right and responsibility to hold them accountable. Only 1 of the 3 has immunity, the other 2 don’t have. So I will soon submit my complaint to the Public Protector to deal with the 2 that don’t have immunity, the other one will be dealt with later. So it’s up to them to do what they’re under oath to do. All other statements are just politics. If they can’t maintain peace let them resign we put other people who want to work and not…

  10. The PF police are the major perpetrators of violence nothing much to hide here.

We have to rise up and fight for our own sake. Don’t sit ndwii doing nothing. Zambia is under siege by these terror group in uniform.

To make the matter worse there is no president its just figurehead president of a coward and afraid his own shadow.

    PF must go!

  11. You are all beating around the bush……

Lungu is the commander in chief of all this violence.

His caders in GRZ and PF go about violence with his blessings……

If lungu wanted , only 1 phone call can end the violence…

  12. How can these three be held to account for the lack of peace and order, the;
    1. Inspector General of Police,
    2. Minister of Home Affairs &
    3. The President of the Republic of Zambia

  13. Ba Lusaka Times why are you allowing Kaizar Zulu to INCITE VIOLENCE AND HATRED against fellow citizens. To the Secretary to Cabinet can you take action PLEASE before it’s too late.
