It’s true, that’s why we need at the helm of ZAA

That is facts. For me I was best karate fighter at school. I got my black belt at the tender age of 12.

This statement is exactly what makes a black munthu a loser. Because he only measures his achievements with his country or with his race. Other races don’t confine their thinking to a country or a race, they look at the “world”. Because only such winning counts. How can you say you are the best among the poor & unexposed with no facilities, no clue, no nothing. Its shallow thinking

But the man won on the world stage, that is why he is saying no other Zambian has won what I have won. Comprehension bwana

Matete is a legend! An inspiration to many young athletes

Matete you are a bad loser.
Fine you were the best but what did you bring back to your roots? Nothing
12
Don’t put the burden on Matete to bring back anything to his roots, please. It should be voluntary and its not an offence if he does not bring anything back home, infact back home a lot of youths have passed through his hands for training though he is not under any obligation legally, morally, spiritually or commercially to bring back anything to his roots. What did you bring yourself?

I am the best, no other Zambian has achieved better than me here at LT.
Nostra is the Matete of bloggers!!! bonse abashala muli bangwele.

KALUSHA BWALYA

No other Zambian has read news on BBC in London other than Maureen Nkandu
No other Zambian has won the African Footballer of the Year award apart from Kalusha Bwalya
etc
So what is the message to us ba Matete?

It is lack of investment in the sport, countries with money start investing in their sports academies and young kids start young in their respective sport. For example my lad started football at 4, he is now 11 and he has scored in every game this season and is attached to a local football club with community connections.

Well done Matete, I was in Europe when you won that world championship, indeed it was great then among my European friends to see you on TV lift the trophy on the world stage, and any enlightened here cannot dispute your truthful statement, it is like the Zambian soccer team winning the world cup. Job very well done
This man set a very high bar…he is a legend

Thanks Matete for putting Zambia on the world map, It was great to see the Zambian flag being lifted high on the world scene, memorable experience for years to come, ignore the sponsored chaps who are trying to dent your name on this forum.

Was he zambian or changed citizenship

I am sure you missed the points he raised about the need to develop and what he can do. Do you realise that Mpondela has been at the helm of zaaa since I can remember, yet our athletes have dwindled in both numbers and winnings. He needs to step down
3
He is right with regard to olympics. The only way to change that is invest in young people include building better sports facilities. Then many will join Matete on that pedestal
1
Egocentrism, similar to trumpism.
3
Instead of arguing what prompted Matete to brag about his achievement focus on finding ways of improving the situation. You all have or know young people who with better facilities can improve in sports and other fields. Put your energy in making those changes or facilitating such progressive changes. Kaizer and others in government – put effort in that dead ministry (youth and sports) so that it can start serving Zambia well.
1
What Matete did for himself no man could have done it for him. So if you think he’s a loser think twice. Its funny how people can talk about their educational or career achievements with impunity but the opposite is true for athletes.
2
Samuel Matete is a legend…

All of you trying to pull him down should just compete. Emulate him or excel like him. That’s how Western society works. I’m sure he is only trying to inspire you

Matete’s boast reaches parliament motel where all zed’s politicians are hanging out.
Lungu: He must not brag like that. No other Zambian has borrowed more than me.
Hakainde: No other Zambian has challenged so many times for the presidency as me
Kennedy the Journalist: imwe stop selective introspection No other Zambian has transformed from stealing clients money to the presidency and no other Zambian enriched himself from privatization like you
Lusambo: iwe Kennedy you must speak to me. No other Zambian can bootlick like me. Which Zambian has ever beaten up Kambwili for the president?
Dora: no imwe bantu no Zambian has

Yaba Kaizer Zulu you’ve made my day….black belt….do you remember Sensei Allan in Lusaka….do you even know the guy….if you are truly a black belt then you will know Sensei Allan

What about lottie mwale.
Ja @ 5, in 1991 Samuel Matete was among 36 participating athletes in 400 metres Hurdles, in Tokyo, Japan. He went through the qualifying heats just like anybody else, semi-final and in the final, he won Gold. He beat other athletes from Jamaica, Great Britain, USA and Sweden. These are the world class athletes with the best facilities you can imagine..
In 1992 during the IAAF World Cup in Cuba, in Men’s continental 4 × 400 m relay, Africa picked its best in Samuel Matete and others were from Morocco, Kenya and Nigeria. Africa won Gold in that event with Matete having the fastest time. He also came first in African championships in Senegal and South Africa, Commonwealth games in Canada and world cup in the United Kingdom. Samuel has competed with the best in the world. Let us respect his…
ZAAA has a problem. We are still dealing with Mpondela’s long stay in office and here is the front runner telling us that the sun shines from his a.s.s
I think Matete, like Lottie Mwale, made a mistake of going back to Zambia too soon. All they could do in Zambia was retire. With no source of income, they just became sad has-beens. I think Zambian sports men and women lack the discipline required to have a prolonged career on the world stage. People like Matete should have had a comfortable retirement, like a lot of Kenyans athletes do.

What about Paul Ngozi?

Indeed Samuel Matete has achieved so much for the nation in athletics. Unfortunately his efforts to pass on his experiences in athletes having had exposure at the highest level are being frustrated by people that have never even run in their lives. It’s a shame that a person whose record isn’t in dispute is being treated like trash. If there’s any grey matter in Elias Mpondela let him step down from ZAAA. The same applies to Philip Musonda who dominated squash in the East and Central African region for many years. These 2 went through the ZCCM sports and recreation programs under Sweeney. The people who we’re mistreating know better. Should countries that appreciate their heroes recruit any of these then some people will say they aren’t patriotic. Do we really know what we want?…

Very true. You have left an indelible mark on the world map that will be very difficult to duplicate, given the current poor running of athletics in Zambia now. Keep it up with your academy mate.
