Purchasing of local products commended

Share

Buy Zed (BZ) has commended the government on its pronouncement of purchasing local products following yesterday’s national state address.

BZ Founder Evans Ngoma says the organization appreciates the move to encourage people in preferring local produce as it is a milestone, especially during the Covid 19 pandemic.

In an interview with ZANIS, Mr Ngoma explained that if production in the country is increased this will lead to an economic boom for many players as it will create jobs and contribute to poverty alleviation.

“Let’s not compromise on the quality produced to ensure that we satisfy our consumers so that they should not look to imported products that are produced in the country so as to alleviate poverty in the country,” he said.

Mr Ngoma has advised citizens that prefer imported goods from locals that they must think twice and be able to support local businesses so as to improve the wellbeing of Zambians.

He adds that it is important to look for solutions that will scale up production as well as satisfy local consumers.

During President Edgar Lungu’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) he said it is encouraging to see that more local products are being sold in shops and more are being consumed which is a sign of patriotism.

He has urged all citizens to think local first when buying goods and services, adding that it should be a matter of pride to consume what is produced.

  2. “Buy Zed” sounds good… buying local products is not just being patriotic but more importantly, sustains jobs and the economy. A good initiative initiative in every way.

  3. The most classic adage regarding trolling is, “Don’t feed the trolls.” Trolls seek out emotional responses and find provocation amusing, so replying to them or attempting to debate them will only make them troll more. By ignoring a troll completely, they will likely become frustrated and go somewhere else on the internet.

You should try your best not to take anything trolls say seriously. No matter how poorly they behave, remember these people spend countless unproductive hours trying to make people mad. They’re not worth your time of day.

  4. At the 11th hour is when they are waking up……

When you were flash with eurobonds , you didn’t give a toss , we were telling you from day one lungu , to encourage
” buy Zambian, build zambia ”

For this to bear fruit needs a good 5 sustained years of enhancing local capacity……

The sadest part is the PF ignoring calls to build a solar power manufacturing base in zambia using our copper for all wiring

……instead they opted for zero duty on solar products to gift jobs to the Chinese and South Africans while our trees are decimated and our people have no jobs,.

    Sad short sighted leadership……

  6. ZAMBIA NOW THAN EVER IS IN NEED OF TRUE LOCAL PATRIOTIC DEMOCRATS WHO AFTER AUG.2021 POLLS CAN RESUSCITATE AGRI-BASED INDUSTRIES SUCH AS MULUNGUSHI TEXTILES IN KABWE, REDUCE THE PRICE OF LOCALLY PRODUCED ELECTRICITY NOT THE WAY IT IS NOW, REMOVE MAIZE EXPORT BANS TO CONGO AND OTHER COUNTRIES, REMOVE TARIFFS ON IMPORTED ANIMAL FEEDS SO CHICKEN AND OTHER SOURCES OF PROTEIN BECOME LESS EXPENSIVE TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF ZAMBIANS, AND SO ON. THE PRESIDENT SHOULD HAVE SAID MORE!!

“..Just produce a good product and let the market decide. The consumer will make a choice and buy the best product…”

How do you compete with Chinese, Indian and South African products when producers from all those countries have enjoyed state protection against foreign competition one time in their history, allowing them time to develop ???

  8. This is path breaking decision that will have long term impact on the country. The move will ensure employment and business for Zambians.

  9. Being truly ‘Patriotic’ it is our duty to support local manufacturers and traders. That way, we can create wealth and keep it in Zambia. Buying imported goods sends our wealth outside the country. It hardly helps our people or economy.

  10. In the times of distress due to pandemic, our own people should be the priority. We should think of helping our brethren rather than some wealthy person in foreign country who is only bothered about his profits.

  11. Zambians have capacity to face any challenge. Our farmers, manufacturers and entrepreneurs are doing their job, it’s for the citizens to support them. And I am sure with this initiative our economy will soon take a turn towards prosperity.

  12. There is no harm in thinking Zambia first. In fact, local industries and businesses should be the priority of people. If we buy only Zambian products, from Zambian sellers then we can be part of nation building.

  13. True local patriotic leaders are already there. They will be re-elected in August. By the way, who told you agriculture sector is sinking and polls will resuscitate it? My dear friend, the agriculture sector is already on the path of prosperity and growth. The bumper crop expected this season and the huge quantity of Maize which is available for export will ensure that farmers’ income goes up manifold.

  14. Buy local is not just a slogan. It is the key to our beautiful future. We can become self reliant if we stop buying from foreigners. After all, it is our motherland and only we can transform it. We should think of local people than the foreigners who are here only to make money.

  16. Every country in the world is trying to promote local manufacturing and trade. There is no harm if we also do it. On the contrary, we have more reason to go local than any other country in the world.

  17. I fail to understand why some people are even criticising this great decision. This will help the nation and our own economy. Only the one who is anti national will criticise this brilliant move.
