Africans elect leaders who turn out to be sellouts and western puppets

Share

KENYAN Pan-Africanist Professor Patrick Lumumba says it extremely unfortunate that many people who are being elected into leadership in Africa are turning out to be sellouts and western puppets.

Lumumba says there are very few people who have morals in leadership positions across the African continent. While delivering a speech in Uganda as monitored by the TheAfricana, Lumumba bemoans the scarcity of people with high moral decorum adding that, the reason why Africa has continued to be poor is because there are people who are puppets and are serving the interest of those who have interest in minerals.

“I stand here as a sad person. When you look around Africa we have leaders who are sellouts. But a proper prescription of the problem reveals that it is not only the politicians who are a problem. The voters are a big part. Anyone who stand to give people proper programs and manifestos, voters will not listen. They want to listen when a someone is talking while such a person has cash to distribute to them. This is the reason why Africans have successfully elected village fools into office and such fools are busy auctioning their minerals to outsiders through all sorts of tax concessions. I dare say and am not guilty for holding this notion that, we have some corrupt African leaders among us who are puppets, and are busy handing over our minerals to imperialists.”

Lumumba’s comments come barely a few days after South African opposition leader Julius Malema also added his voice that there are presidents in African who are assisting white capitalists to plunder Africa’s minerals.

The assertions of Lumumba also find expression in those of Paul Kagame who not long ago, said any leader who gives tax breaks to mines is a criminal.

  9. What makes someone a sellout?: a person who betrays a cause, organization, or the like; traitor. Informal. a person who compromises his or her personal values, integrity, talent, or the like, for money or personal advancement.

What does it mean to call someone a puppet?: You can refer to a person or country as a puppet when you mean that their actions are controlled by a more powerful person or government, even though they may appear to be independent.

  14. African academics find relevance in being anti-western. They should ask their fellow academics in the East what freedom they have to say anything. Funny that Lumumba is aping two dictators- Museveni and Kagame. He comes from capitalist Kenya where he is free to speak and goes to praise socialism in countries where people have no liberty.

  15. With due respect, Kaiser Zulu shouldn’t masquerade on this forum as on high moral ground when frequently being dragged to courts of law for civil and criminal offences. So we remind you to pay $13,000 you owe Mr Stephen Mulembeta Samuteba. You promised to pay this money within 30 days from 24th March 2022. Don’t dare ACC and cry ‘persecution’ of PF cadres

  18. I can understand his frustration with African politics. I think the problem lies in giving the right to vote to all and sundry in countries that have low literacy rates.

  19. A muzungu can never be your friend. They created an entire system which makes African’s hero worship them and always playing catchup. When you go your own way, they eliminate you.

  20. When you have sellouts to China or Russia no one says anything. The damage done to Zambia by a China sellout PF government in 10 years has been greater than any damage done by the west since independence. Kaizer China, you should sit this one out.

  22. Human life is a much more valued creation of God. Historians, political scientists and journalists are best placed to embark on the task of documenting and analysing the mind-sets of African leaders. The analysis can be applied by rating current leaders through scoring their characters along a scale with reference to two historical leaders namely: (1) Adolf Hitler of Germany and (2) Nelson Mandela of South Africa. Hitler was a cruel Dictator associated with atrocities against humans and linked to the holocaust that resulted in deaths of 40,000,000 people. Mandela is reputed for his wisdom and humane approach to the welfare of mankind. A dictator is surrounded by monsters whereas a humane leader enjoys the company of angelic disciples. God bless Africa.

  23. We are playing catchup to systems that are alien to us. That professor should also look at himself in the mirror and stop contradicting himself. He is a product of the same system which is stopping us from being ourselves. He talks about sellouts but quite happily wear colonial outfits and speaks like an imperialist himself. We Africans need to do away with the curse of inferiority complex. Looking up to people who have caused us northing but pain for decades is criminal. The Kaunda generation worked for our freedom today but the current crop need to take us to the next level of economic freedom without relying on the people who cause us pain in the first place.

  24. More than 60years of self rule no tangible locally initiated investments and no savings implies no wealth has been created even at individual level
Leaders take pride vesting in fdis and imf for crumbs and that’s all there is to celebrate for lifetime achievements while those stealing our resources celebrate rocket science

  25. @Anthony Bwalya UPND – I don’t don’t expect you to understand because you are years behind and I look forward to the day you will start condeming your own opinion.

  26. A lot of arm chair experts here, if you look at the real investors from the west they provide jobs and training supply schools, housing ect. and pay tax, then you have the Chinaman who exploits all and brings in his workers, the Chinese are not from the West , they are the ones we must watch and kick out.
