Chama, Musonda boost Chipolopolo camp ahead of Lesotho clash

Tanzania based duo of Clatous Chama and Kennedy Musonda have joined the Chipolopolo camp for the crucial 2023 TotalEnergies African Nations Cup qualifier against Lesotho in Ndola on Thursday.

The duo, who were in action for their clubs in the African inter-club competitions, bring the number of foreign based players in camp to five.

The arrival of Chama who who scored a hat-trick Simba SC’s 7-0 demolition of Horoya of Guinea in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League while Musonda contributed a goal in Young Africans 2-0 defeat of US Monastir of Algeria means that coach Avram Grant now has 16 players in camp ahead of Thursday’s back to back tie against the Likuena.

Both Simba and Young Africans have qualified for the quarter-finals of their respective competitions. More players were expected to arrive later in the day. Chama and Musonda touched down at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport at 12:30 hours.

On Sunday, the Chipolopolo were boosted by the arrival of the South Africa based trio of goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata, midfielder Rally Bwalya and defender Roderick Kabwe. Zambia play Lesotho on Thursday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola at 18:00 hours.

Cote d’Ivoire lead the Group H standings with four points while Lesotho languish at the bottom with just a point. Zambia and Comoros have a point each after two games. Tickets are selling across Shoprite outlets at K50 (North and South), K100 (East), K150 (West) and K200 (VIP).
