  1. My message to HH and his minister of the green economy and the environment is that they should immediately declare the Kafue river an economically important river and national asset. It should be protected from encroachment in its catchment area and throughout the course of the river including its tributaries so that its life is not threatened. Officers in the environment agency should periodically inspect the river from source to its confluence with the Zambezi and ensure that no vegetation within the stipulated distance from the river is cut or land cleared for farming or settlement.

    • Yambayamba, the law to protect water bodies has been in existence for a long time. But government has neither been enforcing it nor making it known to the public so that they do not encroach on rivers and other water bodies. In Katuba on the Great North road, you see farming activity on the edge of the Mwembeshi stream and that has been going on from Kaunda’s time in government. Senior officers in government drive by in their 4×4s and see nothing wrong.

  2. HH you should thankful to the Chinese and previous govt of Lazy Lungu for making this project happen instead of kissing up to your Muzungu masters in Washington…show some respect and fly to Bejing without this project we would still be having loadshedding and your Energy minister would be making mistakes everyday.

NB: HH has learnt a lesson after that rain downpour slowly he is starting to embrace causual wear…trainers is a good start but ditch the suit jacket.

    • Suit or jacket is unditchable for most rural citizens. Its a symbol of success they have aspired to all their life so once in that jacket they feel safe. Out of the jacket they are vulnerable

  3. OK, thats good. Hopefully he mentioned/thanked ECL (his predecessor) and the Chinese for this accomplishment. But I doubt it given his track record so far…..taking credit for projects that are now being completed and coming on line. The very projects he criticized when he was in opposition. He used to say that people can’t eat these “roads/projects”, yet he is now in office and failing to make food affordable so citizens can feed themselves. Instead he is busy commissioning projects that people can so called “Not Eat” which his predecessor initiated….the irony is simply inescapable.
