In one of the articles I churned out earlier this year titled, “Will Edgar Lungu Pull A Quick One?” I observed that Lungu hasn’t quite retired from politics. I predicated that as we approach 2026, stage-managed calls for the former president to come back into politics will rise to a crescendo. In the fullness of time, the humble leader would invite the media to his Ibex Hill plush mansion and declare that he’s been compelled to run for public office again due to public demand. It seems the pieces are already beginning to fast fall into place.
It’s even surprising that those who consider themselves to be crafty and shrewd policians such as Chishimba Kambwili and Godfrey B. Mwamba could not read through such cheap schemes right from beginning. The other day, some women “waylaid” Lungu during his usual morning jogging and cried bitterly. They complained they are suffering under the UPND government.
“You are the only one we consider as president, we don’t know Hichilema. Please come back us and liberate us,” one of them can be heard complaining in Nyanja.
The jumble leader is again seen in a video on social media excitedly exchanging fist bumps and high fives with some kids. This is a choreographed strategy to portray him as a loving father to the public. As the plot continues to thicken, you should expect more individuals of different hues and shades to continue flocking to Ibex Hill for photo opts – students, labour leaders, the clergy, traditional leaders etc.
President Edgar Lungu must not dare take the people of Zambia for granted. He should stop mocking us! The country witnessed the worst atrocities under his brutal regime! Do we surely need to remind him his cadres used to pry open mouths of journalists and urinate in them? Has he forgotten that he closed our favourite The Post Newspapers and equally shut down the popular Prime TV station, institutions he considered critical of his government? Didn’t his cadres gouge out our eyes or hack us with pangas? Who killed Chibulo Mapenzi…..Grazier Mutapa…..Lawrence Banda? Who gassed us in our homes during our sleep? Did Lungu allow the opposition, particularly HH to interact with would-be voters? Weren’t the markets and stations “No Go Zones!” for UPND members? Who stripped our students of mealie meal allowances? Did Lungu avail CDF to opposition strongholds on time? Does he need reminding that his government and party officials became instant millionaires…..they’ve colossal sums of money stashed in their houses, and boast of fleets of cars and mansions everywhere!
Stop hiding in your so-called morning exercises, Sir! Be a man and declare your intentions now so that we can tackle you fairly and squarely!

Kanshi whats wrong with someone exercising? If you exercise then you want to be president? Ma analyst yamu Zambia! As some of us have previously pointed out, Lungu wont stand. You can even see he has no energy for politics. The only thing he can strategically do is to endorse a successor quickly so that voters get used to the new leader. Zambians already know the PF. Its the president that needs to be thrown into the arena so he can blend in with the PF brand

Indeed Lungu must stop mocking Zambians with his gimmicks! On one hand that he’s able to go about freely enjoying his exercises and still interacting with Zambians at large should be testimony of HH’s leadership and respect for individual freedoms as enshrined in the national laws! Lungu is not being honest and still harbors deep rooted grudge for having lost to one he’d vowed would never occupy plot one in his lifetime! Lungu grew big headed and a self anointed god! The delusion of “nkamukaka” still burns in Lungu. In being magnanimous about leadership HH is being sized up by the python mentality in Lungu. Wake up Zambians!

Lungu has a right to stand if he wants. If you want to compare HH to Lungu just look at the prices of mealie meal, fuel, fertilizer and graph them with that of Lungu. People that voted for HH and UPND are now living in shame for what they did to themselves. Why would someone sane worry about another person jogging and greeting people.

Bill, last time I equally opposed your assumption that Lungu will stand. It’s not possible at all. I don’t understand the mindset of Zambians sometimes. Lungu remains the worst President Zambia has had so far, with HH being a close second in my opinion with his need to please western powers at the expense of Zambians.
The fmr president is free to jog and be in public, there appears to be this hatred for the man and that he must be under house arrest. Even at home when people visit him UPND zealots claim he is machining politics.
Lastly, Lungu’s votes last time came from his cadres and half of those votes were people who, for whatever reasons, simply love the man. It’s perhaps half a million people who love Lungu and these will publicly call for his return.

So right. Thats why I think HH should stop worrying about Lungu standing because that would be an obvious victory for HH. However if HH stands against another candidate altogether the victory dissappears. Any other leader is better than these two

My issue is not with the article, its rather on some comments being made here. where some people are comparing prices of commodities under ECL and HH. Just to remind those that believe Lungu was the merciful one, he is actually the reason we are in this mess. Those subsidies on fuel, mealie meal and the like just made the country accumulate huge debts which are now chocking us. I have nothing personal about ECL but his leadership style was / still remains deceitful
So when you were campaigning you dint know that we are in your socalled mess? This is the least a normal /honest person can say. He promised K50 per 25kg when voted meaning he had all the plan to sort out the mess. He is just failure.

Agreed. HH is the second worst president Zambia has had the misfortune to have. He’s clearly failing to turn the economy around, and has instead decided to please his Western masters over Zambians. Corrupt lazy Lungu should never be allowed anywhere near State House again. And HH needs to be voted out, come 2026, for selling Zambia to the Americans. We need a new, corrupt free, leader with a clear vision to develop our country. Lazy Lungu, and American puppet, HH, do not qualify.
