President Hakainde Hichilema’s China Trip Attracted $3bn Investment

Share

About three billion dollars worth of investment was signed between Zambia and Chinese Businesses during President Hichilema’s State Visit to China.

Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, Du Xiaohui said the Commercial Cooperation Documents cover digitization, green energy, infrastructure and environmental protection.

Mr. Du said this demonstrates the commitment of the Zambian side to forge even closer business ties with China.

He says Zambia and China have dedicated 2024 as a year of investment and business.

Mr. Du was speaking during the 74th Anniversary of the Founding of The People’s Republic of China, the 5th Anniversary of Zambia’s joining the Belt and Road Initiative and the Successful State Visit by President Hichilema to China.

Meanwhile, Government has called on the Chinese and Zambian Business community to forge joint ventures that guarantee a win -win situation.

Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister, Chipoka Mulenga said this will ensure that both the Zambian Business Community and China equally benefit from the joint ventures.

Mr. Mulenga said China continues to be Zambia’s largest trading partner, with increased bilateral trade from Copper and other Minerals.

He said Zambia is gratified with the elevation of the bilateral relations with China to a comprehensive strategic partnership as it will deliver greater increased opportunities for both parties.

    • This is not the same. Every time UPND does good, you try to muddle that with nonsense of PF. HH went to China, secured funds for investment, without getting a single loan. PF went to China, got loans, they channeled small amounts of money to their villages in Mwansabombwe and Katete, but left the majority of the money in their numbered bank accounts in the Seychelles.

  1. What about the restructuring of the Chinese debt? It looks like HH’s visit achieved absolutely nothing on this front. Yet it is what most Zambians wanted to hear upon HH’s return from China.

    • You are actually very behind on this issue because this issue was long discussed and sorted together with other lenders. Do a small research and you will surely find the details.

  2. Such news doesn’t excite us anymore. We have Chinese mines at Luanshya and Kalulushi worth more than the amount that has been announced in pledges. There’s in fact a huge economic zone at Kalulushi, but what’s the outlook of the economy in the town? Luanshya and Kalulushi are almost ghost towns. So what difference will these pledges make except to advance Chinese domination? Local tunthemba owners have been misplaced because the Chinese have setup large shops in townships. The anguish is very apparent amongst Zambians as they can’t compete. There’s no hope

  3. Even me I can take a trip to dubai and come back home to tell my gullible maids and garden boy that my visit to dubai has attracted investment of 2 trillion dollars. Anyone can claim anything on paper. Can evidence of this be provided? The Zambian people now know they are dealing with an expert liar like hh. Fuseke

    • Kalya-nyoko Kaizer Zulu, you, Satan, Chakolwa and others, found Zambia without debt, and left it in US $31 billion debt in 10 years. No one wants to hear what you have to say. Just continue to eat the woman who gave birth to you, as you say you have always done

  4. Here we go again….He keeps on signing nonsensical MOUs to fool gullible praise singers…..what happened to the MOUs signed in Dubai and Saudi Arabia……not a single investment and almost over a year now…What happened to all the MOUs signed with Kagame….Angola….etc and the problem we have Praise singers Lumbani Madoda Spaka and TIKKI who doesn’t know what MOUs are

    • HH did not evaluate any assets. HH was not qualified to value assets. HH came to do the book keeping. There is a difference. An asset evaluator tells you what something is worth. The accountant tells you how much money move in and versus the amount that moved out. HH did the latter. The criminals were you who told people what to pay for kickbacks. We know all your dirty schemes kalya-nyoko Kaizer Zulu. I wish you had got stuck in the birth canal and died at birth

  5. Why are we poor and always going to Western Nations & China begging for loans assistance to develop Zambia after 59 years of Independence ????????????????

    • Because HH undervalued our assets during privatisation and sold off for a loss our mines all for kickbacks. So we now are reliant on other richer nations for our survival

    • HH did not privatise anything. HH simply counted the money which was made from the price Kaizer Kalya Nyoko Zulu told the buyers to pay, while getting kickbacks. HH is not an asset evaluator. The Kaizer Zulus decided to sell the companies of Zambia to their foreign lovers, now they want to blame HH for their misguided privatisation. HH has been in power for 2 years and has not sold a single Zambian asset. The reason why HH is going to foreign countries is because Kalya-Nyoko Kaizer Zulu, his lover Chakolwa Lungu and Satan, borrowed US $31 billion Zambia will never able to pay. HH is going from country to country asking for breathing room as the debtors are for their pound of flesh

  6. @Maiza
And Politicians think this is funny…leaving wealthy behind going to berg in China or USA or Europe…it looks like Africa is bewitched….imagine there’s a company (African Bush Trucks)registered in Los Angeles making money selling tickets to Victoria falls whilst Zambians back home are sleeping waiting for donations and breadcrumbs from the USA

    • Do not blame HH. When you used tribalism to steal elections and put in power criminals like Satan and Chakolwa Lungu, what did you expect. Do not look at HH. Look at the criminals who borrowed US $31 billion in 10 years.

  7. Zambia triggered a reset button on Sino cooperation. It still remains hard for Zambians to see through the benefits for such foreign trips. It is cool for HH to travel as many times as he wishes without positive results. While Paris Club is looking into our debt, we must also engage China bilaterally. We blow our chance for effective debt talk. Even if our Constitution doesn’t stipulate how often times the president flies out, it is morally wrong to be a public funds spendthrift.

    • HH does not get a salary. He does not even live at State House. He is trying to solve problems the tribalists created when they borrowed US $31 billion and looted it. We have no means to pay that money, and that is why HH is dancing to all the debtors tunes.

  8. ………

The usual LT resident suspects are never happy………

These are the types who will moan if someone says they are banishing unemployment in zambia……….

You complain when HH does no go to china….

When he goes , you complain about MoUs not being able to give you free handouts……..

When the Chinese ambassador states the 3 billion of investments comming…..

You complain about Chinese taking over ???

    WTF…….?

  9. Now the president can see the difference, EU pledges 2. million investment and China pledges 3billion in investment in Zambia can this president know, whom to call a friend .

    2

    • The EU made up of 27 members follows that each one guaranteed less than €100, 000 worth of pledges. In effect, China promises about 30, 000 times more than the whole of Europe combined! Choose friends wisely.

  10. The EU, thanks to the tribalists, Satan and Chakolwa Lungu, that your kind put in power, can see that Zambia is like a little rabbit caught in a trap. The triablists borrowed US $26 billion from the West, which it has no means of paying. This is why it is not giving Zambia anything. Zambia is already tethered to the EU. It has to dance to their tune. As you can see, this is not HH’s fault. It is the fault of Chakolwa and Satan, whom you “voted” for. Do not blame HH. It is your fault
