In a resolute commitment to enhance the quality of education and provide a comfortable learning environment for the nation’s youth, the President Hichilema has declared that no child shall sit on the floor in Zambian schools by December 2023. This promise was reiterated by Henry Kapata, the Director and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Information and Media when he visited Kitwe on the Copperbelt, where desks were ceremoniously handed over to various schools as part of this transformative initiative.

    • I remember Frederick Chiluba making the same pledge in 1992. Desks were sent to a school in Kabompo. What happened between then and now?

  1. He has failed to ensure affordable mealie meal prices and yo fulfill his promises of lower exchange rates and fuel costs. Now the big f00I is making more promises about desks.

  2. The problem with Zambian politics is that even common sense is politicised. The question should be, how have we allowed our children to sit on the floor or in dilapidated classrooms when we have politicians showing off that they have over 500 houses. How do you allow children to sit on the floor when you include Gas in the budget as cars for ministers. How do you allow children to sit on the floor when the same timber they can use for desks and classrooms is moving out of the country under our noses? Wake up man.

  4. Money that could be saved from demolishing Thabo Kawana’s dubious post can buy a lot of desks for school children in Kawana’s village. HH has decided to make this dubious post permanent by appointing this Henry Kapata, to continue doing political work under the civil service budget. What does a “Director and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Information and Media” have to do with distribution of desks?

    • We never learn. When we are in opposition we are sheep but immediately we win the election we become crocodiles.
