United Kwacha Alliance Statement On The Nullification of 9 PF Seats In Parliament

Share

The declaration of nine (9) seats for the Members of Parliament belonging to the PF party is a reckless and irresponsible conduct by everybody involved in this seemingly misplaced UPND project to dismantle the former ruling party.
Currently, our Country needs revitalised efficient and effective strategies in our education and health systems to produce generations of well-trained, healthy and competitive human capital and an upper middle class citizenly. That is where our priorities in terms of expenditure should be going, not senseless bye-elections.
It is disheartening to note that for almost three years in government, the UPND has continued to be so wasteful with meager public resources. The creation of unnecessary expenditure such as the currently declared bye-elections is testament of the UPND’s uncaring attitude towards our people in the dispensation of governance.
The Hakainde led government’s insensitivity and its over estimated and pure ignorant view on the state’s carrying capacity has been a source of worry for a long time. Clearly this is a danger to state security and to the well being of our future generations.
As UKA, we wish to urge our voting citizens to appropriately express discontent with this kind of irresponsibility by a wasteful and uncaring government, the legitimacy of which, has not been earned through respect and fulfilling of the terms of the social contract which terms are abrogated on a daily basis.
As Zambians of all walks of life, we need to stand together and reclaim the mandate genuinely given by the Zambian citizens on the 12th August 2021 in the hope for a better Zambia.

    • Mr Sakwiba Sikota. You have no popular mandate to ask the people to think the way you are thinking. You are a one-man party member without any parliamentary MP or even a councilor, and so is the UKA you chair. Dont put PF’s confusion and lawlessness on your head. The bye-elections have been caused by PF.Just mobilize and grab some of the nine vacancies so you can become meaningful

    • You people who know the Zambian constitution please tell us: Can anyone nullify a parliamentary seat apart from the voters? What legal reason would a speaker use to invalidate a seat? This action would be very underhand if it is allowed. Its a manipulation of democracy.

  1. IF PRIORITY IS DEVELOPING HUMAN CAPITAL AS YOU CLAIM WHY ARE YOU HAVING RALLIES EVERYWHERE???
YOU WANT TO PLAY POLITICS IT SUITS YOU? WHEN YOUR OPPONENTS PLAY POLITICS YOU RUN AWAY AND CLAIM ITS NOT PRIORITY!!! YOU WANT RALLIES NOW YOU HAVE 9 OPPORTUNITIES TO HAVE RALLIES. CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR!!

    • Opposition can hold rallies, they arent required in office to drive anything except discourse. But the ruling party has a job to focus on: TO RULE or develop capital as he puts it. Certainly not to play politics

  2. Comment or not, those seats are vacant. law is law. Herewith the rallies you have been crying for. And I hope the polling date will be same for all 9

    • Do you have the money for these bye-elections? The IMF money is being monitored you cant use it for bye-elections.

  3. Realizing they have failed and will not deliver on the many promises they made, the only route they have is to cripple the opposition. The ending will be very bad for this chipantepante government

  4. Since the UPND govt has such an appetite for elections , why don’t we go for early general elections to give the MPs and President a fresh mandate from the people?

  5. We all know what happens when a leader clings to the Presidency and fails to let go. That’s how both KK and FTJ destroyed UNIP and MMD. If Lungu had genuinely retired from politics and allowed the PF convention to go ahead. All this would not have happened. If anything PF would have been much stronger given the current circumstances of load shedding and the blunder of exporting all maize reserves before the next harvest is confirmed.

  6. In this current dispensation, you learn that both PF and UPND are not the choices Zambia needs. A new breed of leaders that lead with courage is required. Both the 6th and 7th presidents of Zambia are nowhere near the first 5 presidents Zambia had.

  7. I sense we are hitting the nadir of Zambian politics. Hopefully we do not go lower still. As @St Desperacius says, we do need better than the present array of visible choices.

    • Many promising leaders were eliminated and I don’t see any hope in the current or prospective rulers.

  8. It’s a reckless thing to engineer but for the PF, it save those lumpens well because we all know how Michael Chilufya Sata engineered countless by-elections once he ascended to power? Let the PF swallow a good dose of their own medicine silently. As for the UPND, if you think what is happening in Kenya cannot happen here, you just wait and see, time will tell. I still recall Kambwili arogantly telling Zambians to go fill up Kariba Dam with their urine to generate electricity, now where is he, in “Mwamoneni nomba batupoka chalo”. These will be HH’s lamentations soon if he does not desist from tribal bigotry and a stinking character of “Kulimonesha ta”.

  9. I agree with St Desperacius
Both UPND and PF including UKA are all useless….instead of finding solutions to improve our economy…finding solution for electricity they’re busy with their Political fights

  10. This will boomerang. FTJ introduced a two terms limit to the presidency and also the nativity of the candidates. These caught up with him…he had served two terms and he was of suspected parentage. Be careful of what you say or do. Let’s have clean democracy.

  11. PF should have chosen a leader as soon as it
Was defeated in 2021.Mr Sampa should have
Reconciled with ECL early. These are the results we are seeing now.

  12. Zambia is in a crisis mode and all that politicians want is to find ways of holding on to power.
We the voters are crying for food, water, electricity and affordable prices of commodities.
Who is going to attend to the needs of the majority of the people?

  13. But it’s those same MPs which were defying their President which lead to their expulsion and nullification. If they had a heart for the people and didn’t want their people to go through a by-election why didn’t they just listen to their President and tow the party line after they were warned that they could be expelled.

  14. ECL thinks he can manipulate natural issues and manipulate the Zambian citizens and be allowed to come back in power in order to avoid prosecution for the corruption cases he committed and allowed his followers to do the same. He should remember that the tears of the destitute widow are still alive. Allloba ilyauma.

    • Lawyer Paul, you are are right. The poor widow that Ecl swindled, wept and wept and the spirits of the land witnessed, and hence confusion in his family, and party

  15. PF destroyed Zambia’s vital economic indicators its just fitting they reap what they sowed. What goes around always comes around.

  16. @ Mlevi Kachasu
With your kind of thinking Zambia will never develop….so just because PF destroyed the economy then its justified for UPND to destroy Zambia completely…what kind of reasoning is that…..why are we identifying ourselves by our Political affiliations…why can’t we all just identify as Zambians…..PF did this…UPND did this…MMD did this….and 60 years after independence we don’t have electricity and running water

  17. @ Deja Vu
There’s 5 billion years left before the earth finally disintegrates and that will mark the end of the earth….and by that time Zambia will still be struggling with Electricity and cholera because of Politicians like HH

  18. Whats the story with the Livingstone Mayor…holier than thou…it turns out Livingstone which is the headquarters for UPND is on top when it comes to Corruption…Livingstone Mayor received K180000 and no receipt was issued….
