The Miss Heritage Zambia finalists are currently engaged in a fierce online tussle for votes for the Miss Personality title as the pageant nears the grand finale on June 16 in Lusaka.
Following auditions in March, 14 contestants were picked to undertake rehearsals before entering into boot camp on June 1.
A fortnight ago, the organisers of the pageant announced that with only a few weeks to go, they will be posting pictures of the 14 surviving finalists so that the public could help determine who wins the Miss Personality.
“Your votes [likes of the pictures from the official page and page likes of their individual pages] will help us to determine who our Miss Personality for Miss Heritage Zambia 2016 will be,” the brief read.

what heritage are you preserving with names like lucy, mariana, clara, emma, laurisca, janet, candy, charity etc. only two girls here carry all african names: natasha mapulanga and luwi lusa kawanda. When you meet a person for the first time, the first thing you know about them or they tell you is their name. Name is the first gate we present of ourselves in terms of persona. it is with this name that people later associate with us. but as africans, when we give out foreign names as titles of ourselves, we already seem lost and defeated. we present our selves as a people so inferior and lacking self confidence that they had to take other peoples names. If you say, taking white names is ok and it is a global world we live. why then dont europeans carry your name?why is it that in this global…
village only we seem to adopt their culture and things and they dont? what does it say of us as a people? Even our most learned proffs at their very best of presentations wear suit and a tie or some fancy white attire yet white professors dont ever wear african attire. we fuel european economies with our ignorance. Now you might ask, how do we change this. well, the moment you come in the know of you are as an african. Change your name. drop that european crap and ask your parents or elders to give you an african name. explain your reasons. change your name and if need be, go to civic centre and have your respective documents changed to that effect. Unza will reissue your degree under a new name so will nipa, nrdc etc.
