President Edgar Lungu President of the Republic of Zambia has made changes at Permanent Secretary level with immediate effect. This is contained in a statement released to the media by his special Assistant for Press and Public relations, Amos Chanda
According to the statement, President Lungu has transferred the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs Dr. Peter Mwaba to the Ministry of Health in the same capacity, taking over from Dr. Davy Chikamata who moves to the Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health in the same capacity.
Other changes the Head of State has made include the transfer of Professor Elwyn Chomba from the Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health to the Ministry of Home Affairs in the same capacity as Permanent Secretary.
” The President takes this opportunity to urge all Permanent Secretaries to be more diligent, prudent and resource management and work expeditiously to deliver public services to the people,” concluded the statement.

Dear Mr President, the kwacha is nose diving and you are busy making changes where it does not matter. Now hear this from social media kwacha is fall due to the following reasons
1. borrowing without plans, excessive borrowing for that matter
2. you have failed to inject confidence in the economy with a press conference where you can give economic direction to the nation and the world
3. your absence on key economic issues has resulted into speculative or negative sentiments creating pressure on the kwacha
4. you economic managers at finance are not alive to the global changes, hence they have a wait and see approach to economic matter
5. you have paid too much attention to politics, hence spending more on campaigns for by-elections
6. Corruption is on the increase in all sectors…
This is what he knows best. Appointments!! He is in fact moving “wrong” people. Make changes to key ministry, the Ministry of Finance! Also come out from hiding and face the nation. Peter Mwamba was at Ministry of health before, what did he do? This is only surviving PS from MMD to PF. Is Health improving or going backwards? Peter you have few months before UPND takes over, so do something to remember you by. Medicines in hospital are still a problem. Since you have been returned to Mnistry of health we expect you to do something this time around otherwise you are just a musical chair. Frederick Chiluba set a very nasty precedent when he began appointing Permanent secretaries and instead of correcting this you who have succeeded him, want to continue with this corrupt legacy. All because you enjoy power. Instead of correcting operations that are corrupt you have continued to appoint Permsecs, Parastatal heads and you have continued with unneccessary ownership of all the country’s media companies thereby misspending the bond money you are borrowing.
You are supposed to leave the Public Service Commission to make appointments for Permanent Secretaries because thats what the nation pays this commission for but you are busy giving it to supervise, people you appoint out of political considerations. These people know…

Is this the only job that the presidents does ? When are these appointments going to end ?Sata was doing the same and he(Lungu )has carried on doing the same. Four years of non stop appointments of friends and family at a time when the economy is taking a nose dive. There is nothing wrong with the previous system. What has been wrong is the people running them. Appointing more clueless people who only care about their bank accounts is not going to change our country.
If you have a minister who cant see that employing PF members only to work for RSTA is wrong, then we do have a serious problem as a nation. It discourages competition. Wrong people are being employed to run positions they are not qualified for and our economy is sent tumbling off the mountain cliff.
