Former Mpongwe Member of Parliament Gabriel Namulambe was on Thursday evening picked up by Police and detained at Luanshya Central Police.

The former Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister was arrested on three counts of criminal trespass, naming someone a witch and theft.

Namulambe is believed to have gone around the nearby villages with a witch doctor forcibly evicting and fishing out suspected “witches and wizards”.

He has been arrested along with the witch finder.

Mr Namulambe, who is one of the prominent Lambas in Mpongwe area is said to have become paranoid and superstitious after deaths occurred among some of his close members of his family.

In January 2014, Mr Namulambe’s daughter and two of his grandchildren died in a road traffic accident on Kafue Road which left six others injured.

The witch-finder and Namulambe then set about to evict, fine and flash out those he suspected to be involved in black magic and caused the deaths of his loved ones.

Police picked up Namulambe after victims and members of the community laid complaints against the former Ministers criminal acts in the area.

    • Tb joshua is a professional scammer. I dont even know how you people enjoy listening to him. The way he struggles to make sentences is so disgusting.

    • @Peter, a witch hunter is a chief witch. So if Namulambe was aiding witch hunters, it simply means that he was helping witches. Therefore, the heading is just ok

  1. When I saw the headline: “Namulambe arrested for aiding witches”; I immediately pictured some witches being pursued and lynched by some unruly crowd and then Namulambe pitches up and offers them (witches) sanctuary in his Mpongwe mansion.

  2. Zambian newspapers are the worst in the region. Poor grammar, reporting, non objectivity and lack of professional ethics. Simply put, unbelievable! Especially that we are an English speaking country.

  3. the heading is really misleading, i thought Namulambe stated assisting Witches on how to go about witchcraft. i was thinking the witches hit a snag and went to him for assistance, after being help they tried to do the tasks as usual but were arrested and then they mentioned namulambe to have been the one who assisted them. kanshi nifimbi fimbi yaaaaaa ba mutola nkani apa peve mwaitaya….

  4. I know Namulabe very well when did he became a witch doctor?mammmmmmmmmmmm how can he be come a witch doctor from all the things God help us we have a lot of witches here in Zambia, that is why we can’t even have runs mammmmmm kaya.

  5. I THOUGHT NALUBAMBE WAS ABOVE SUCH PRIMITIVE BELIEFS AFTER BEING EXPOSED UP TO LEVEL OF DEPUTY MINISTER IN A FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTRY!!! ANYWAY YOU CAN’T CHANGE A ….. TO BE A …… WHAT A SHAME!!

  6. Sorry to say Namulambe is very primitive. He even struggles to construct a sentence in the Queens language! Its only that fortunes favours fools!

  7. You then wonder why we can NEVER Develop as a country??
Such superstitious boneheads like Namulambe are allergic to hard work, but believe witchcraft, & prayer -(declaring Zambia a Christian Nation) will solve our ills, sort out hunger, garbage collection, load shedding, whilst they continue like Kambwili dipping into government coffers for their own benefit.
ZAMBIA WILL NEVER DEVELOP AS LONG AS WE HAVE THIS CALIBRE OF LEADERSHIP!

  8. Nalumambe had a case of theft, but somehow Mr Sata rehabilitated him and the case was “forgotten ” Like has been said above we have no hope if enlightened people can accept this primitive behavior.

  9. One told me that politicians believe in juju power,so it’s not to my suprise with nalubambe’s behaviour if wat pipo say is true.

  10. Behold the Christian nation – with a Ministry of National Guidance and Religious Affairs… I suppose there is a department of anti-sorcery and primordial affairs.

  11. AS THE SAYING GOES YOU CAN TAKE A VILLAGER OUT OF THE VILLAGE BUT YOU CAN NOT TAKEN THE VILLAGE OUT OF THE VILLAGER!!!!! LOL SORRY THAT NAMULEMBE IS IN SUCH GRIEF. LOSING A LOVED ONE CAN BE HARD. GOD ONLY KNOWS AND HAS HIS REASONS. I FEEL FOR THE FAMILY AND NAMULEMBE IN PARTICULAR. WE SHOULD ALL SUPPORT THEM AS THEY EMBARK ON THIS HEALING JOURNEY. THIS IS WHEN THE HEARTS AND CHRISTIANITY OF ZAMBIANS SHOULD BE CALLED INTO ACTION. NAMULEMBE IS DEALING WITH A HARD LOSS AND WE SHOULD ALL FIND A WAY TO BE SUPPORTIVE AND NOT JUST MOCK HIM.

  12. Mwinsho tamukwetepo akalango after yo ancle sure made the all efforts taking yu to school to day he’s a witch ukupunama
