  1. This is RB Airlines, once banda leaves office, this airline will go down as well. Zambians we are such big losers!

  2. what a surname you have Mr. CEO ! he heh heh heh amashina yamo zoona!like yo parents had beef with u @ birth!

  3. Ala amashina yambi. If it was my surname, i would have chosen to use his first name. As in Elizabeth Cornwell. Mulenya? awe yachinfya iyi yena.

  4. Thats a good move. I intend on staying with my parents when i go for the world cup, and just fly to SA for the matches. congrats Zambezi.

  5. There is nothing sinister about that surname because the man is might not be bemba so what is the fuss.definately what that name means in bemba might mean something else in other languages.in short not all people are bemba.

  6. Iam back fellow bloggers. Bravo to zambezi Airlines. I look forward to seeing Zambezi airlines hitting international skies and save Zedians from the embarrassment of relying on other countries airlines.

  7. Ok, the name is not for discussion but the airline. Let’s stay with the topic. Who owns this airline?

  8. #3 and #7 you are fake observer my brother, you are a chancer, why usurp my name, why not just open yours and be unique. Have you run out OF names and ideas, or you are a computer terrorist? I do not subscribe to your nonsense of posting irresponsible comments that do not reflect my ideals. Please Lusaka Times COULD YOU BLOCK ALL POSTINGS IN THE NAME OF AND FROM OBSERVER!
    I WILL USE ANOTHER NAME, I DO NOT WANT TO BE ANYMORE ASSOCIATED WITH THESE USELESS HACKER F***KERS!

  9. Metaphoric! the name could be mocking Zambia Airways directors. All the best bwana CEO, ba Zambia Airways, Mulenya!

  10. No. 16 Developer – I believe it is owned by Maurice Jangulo and the Sinda Brothers. and Muleya is not bemba but Tonga not that that matters.

  11. Anyway back to the story – hope they do well Lusaka Joburg is a busy route but hope they can use that to link up other routes in africa and far east . they should have a competition to change the plane tail – that giraffe like pattern does not appeal. I cant associate giraffes with flight

  12. Good news indeed! But it is interesting how the name of the CEO becomes the subject of the bloggers. I only hope that whoever is involved in running this airline have the full commitment to it and nothing else. Can someone dig out some data on who the chairman and the shareholders are? Why are companies so secretive in Zambia?

  13. This is fantastic news for Zambia and Zambians though it was already a known fact that this was the RB backed airline. Lets hope they manage without borrowing money from lending institutions.

  14. the pricing is too high, look at reducing so that a common zambian can once again start flying 2 SA minus difficulties. otherwise the fares being advertised in the papers of USD320 plus are atsronomical

  15. Bravo Zambezi Airline! In the absence of Moses, there is a Joshua. Zambia will never be held at ransom by a legion of “sole losers”.Let them eat their hatred and culture of malice.Go Zambezi Air go make money with integrity and serve national interest. You have our unwavering support.I’m heading home shortly and count me your frequesnt flying client in solidarity.

    Bravo!

  16. Akamutengo kaba Zambezi to Jozi is not good. we would like to support you but you are more expensive than Saa. M coming to lsk this week but opted to use Saa coz its cheaper. Pls think before you peg your fares. you are not the only airline flying btwn LSK and Jozi.

  17. This is not the first private Airline to be introduced in Zambia, We had Aero Zambia, Zambia Express and another Airline before Zambian Airways. However an impression has been created by the Media as if Zambian Airways has been the first private airline. The fact is that there is nothing unique about Zambian Airways going under apart from it having gone under at the expense of Tax payers as a private airline and having enjoyed media coverage. Zambian Airways was not suspended by Govt but it chose to suspend it own business because of its indebtness which was not caused by govt but bad management after a Proffessional Chief Excecutive was fired in option for a Lawyer. Similary Zambezi Airways may also go under if it will be managed poorly.

  18. same old Dramer

    KK = Zambia AIRWAYS
    FTJ= AERO ZAMBIA
    LEVY= ZAMBIAN AIRWAYS
    RB= ZAMBEZI AIRWAYS
    SATA= AIRMUKWAYI

  19. LT this is a typo. The Correct name is Cornwell Muleya. He is a well qualified aviation consultant. He was Managing Director at Botswana Airways (or is it Air Botswana) and is credited with the successes at Air Botswana. He also served as EVP for Finance at Air Mauritius. An extra plus, his wife is daughter to Sir Keitumile Masire – Botswana’s Second President. LT, you need to offer an apology to this man of high esteem.

  20. On behalf of president Bwezani, I regret to inform you that the correct name for Mr. Cornwell is MULEYA (You are going), not as Mulongoti pronouce it as in “you are….”, I don’t want to repeat that mistake.

  21. Thank you # 32 for educating us, i was almost sure that was muleya instead of the terrible typo by LT…I knew that was a Tonga name…Bembas dont have such names, if it was something like “mukunya” from eastern province i would not have doubted because they are the only ones that has weird names.

  22. Ba #32. Mwalikwata problem. Mwalikwata inferiority complex and you can easily be a ‘praise singer’ for others. So what if the wife is daughter of past president of botswana? Just be focused and don’t waste your time praising others.

  23. Ba #37na38
    Mwebakwata inferiority complex nimwe,the guy at 32 has just brought valuable imformation that we all didn’t know.we were all preoccupied scorning this highly succesful innocent man whose name was mispelt and it became a gossip capital to people like you.sir ketumile masire is not just an ordinary pauper like your father and penetrating his family and marry her daughter is no mean achievement.moreover you are a joker already already you have brought in the name of unholy kapoko.just to assist you further one of the shareholders in this airline a mr jangulo is also the behind Niombo investments.if this name also sounds funny to you then fine but it’s a big time company supplying zambia with fertilizer today.answer me.

  24. #39. ahaha. We did not need that information. Whether he is married to daughter of Obama or what, you don’t need to be a ‘praise singer’ . Thats why Africa will never go anywhere because of so many ‘praise singers’

  25. #32 Yangu. Why are u spreading false rumours on this blog. His wife is very much Zedian and he’s a great guy. Zambezi Airlines was born years ago (4-5 years) but only started flying early this year, has nothing to do with any politician and is very much owned by Zambian private citizens. They spent years planning and preparing for their airline and deserve credit for their achievements. BIG UP ZAMBEZI AIRLINES!

  26. achievers must be appreciated.#32 thanx for the vital info on mr muleya aliendelela. Call it hero worshiping if you feel like but it’s a fact.

  27. I.N.T.E.R.E.S.T.I.N.G…i hope this brings beneficial returns to Zambia….Advice..pay your airport taxes please!

  28. It is always interesting reading the facts, the innuendos, the lies and of course the ignorance on this blog. I found # 3 novel. Really did not know RB owned Zambezi Airlines way before he became President. I wonder when Maurice sold his airline? Well, I guess the blogger is drowned in innuendo!

  29. Good for you Zambezi Airline. 1Time Airline, South Africa’s low cost Airline will also start flying to Livingstone soon. I hope you manage your books properly and pay all your dues in good time although you started operating in an off peak season. Good luck!

  30. Good morning bloggers! The first thing i see is bloggers attacking each other. Mwaba shani mwe bantu? We should be proud as Zambians that we have a regional airline. Lets appreciate sometimes. Not ifyo mulevokavoka. Who owns the airline is of little importance but if someone gives us info or data over the same, then well and good. As a zambian, i feel proud to be associated with Zambezi Airlines. What we should be doing is to encourage the Airline to stay afloat and not go down like its predecessor (we all know who)! Yangu, Its too early bane.

  31. #49. We all love Zambia. However, some bloggers wants all of us to be praise singers for the rich people. No. We don’t want that.

  32. PF – UPND Pact
    – THE Patriotic Front (PF) and United Party for National Development (UPND) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) whose focus is to remove the ruling MMD from power.
    According to a joint communiqué signed by PF president Michael Sata and UPND president Hakainde Hichilema, the two parties would work together on all matters of national importance.

  33. During Kaunda we had Zambia Airways he went with it; Chiluba we had Aero Zambia he went with it; Mwanawasa we had Zambian Airways he went with it, Banda we now have Zambezi Airways and he may just go with it. Who know what will be next maybe it will be Sata with ” Ubwato Airways”!!!

  34. Its a good thing Zambezi Airlines has gone regional operating a schedule. Was wondering if at all they have bookings for their flights to keep them operating because with 5 or 90 pax they will have to take off as per schedule. Their prices of course even on domestic are far much higher than their competitor whom they found on the scene and has not gone regional. Thier flights are also not always full on demestic and yet they are operating planes on lease, which is what Zambian Airways was doing as well. If they will manage to pay lease fees to the owners of the aircrafts then no worries otherwise we may face another Zambian Airways soon. This has been opened so soon. I think they should have waited a wiles to be more established on the local market then go regional.

  35. Naimbi ndeke yaisa aha! Mwikesha ukukongola fimandalama bakamisalile naimwe. Please!!!!!!!!!!! refrain from these politicians they will ruine your business.

  36. Thank you fellow zambians i would like to let you know coming first hand from someone who knows everything about this airline, i lived in lusaka kabulonga right next the Late Danial lisulo many years ago and this airline was 30 years in the making and has finally come to life so first and foremost all the haters from back in the day you know who you are what do you have to say now and second to all those who stood behind us from day one again you know who you thank you and enjoy this its all for you we are just getting started!!!!!!

  37. Congrats first and foremost! One big question though? Who’s financing the airline? Are they doing the Ndola J/berg one? How many such planes do they have?

  38. this is just to say congratulations to zambezi airlines, this is to appreciate every person who has had sleepless nights every family that has agonised for the start of this airline. may God bless you. and to the above comments number 31 this airline has nothing to do with government this is an airline created by pipo who have a love for the aviation industry and saw a need for the country to have a zambian airline. we all ought to be greatful look at kenya airways, they are a pride of their nation we need something to be proud of and i believe zambezi can do us proud. never dipise humble beginnings.

  39. Thanks fellow Zambians enjoy this new company all private so go ahead and fly more aircrafts are on the way, no government here just private citizens.

  40. Airline ba minister of education bakwatamo big share yakula. That’s all they wanted …. pulling other players down instead of just competing … Killing innovation and competive pricing, let alone consumer choice.

  41. could anyone please post info as to where Mr Cornwell Muleya is working at the moment, to what i’ve heard is that he’s still on the board of directors for Zambezi Airlines but has left the CEO position.
    He may be working for an aircraft leasing company in Tanzania.
    not too sure if his email add could be obtained.
    thank heaps,
