The Zambia Football Coaches Association (ZAFCA) has supported the hiring of Serbian trainer Zlatko Krmpotic as Zesco United coach.
Zesco have handed Krmpotica ,58, a two year deal.
He has filled the job left by George Lwandamina late last year.
ZAFCA vice President Lewis Shambulo described the appointment of Krmpotica as timely.
“I would have loved to have a Zambian appointed by Zesco but you see we are looking at competition around the world so that we can improve our game in Zambia,” Shambulo said.
“I think we are living in a global village and we need the best. It is timely for Zesco to bring up an expatriate,” he said.
Krmpotic has coached in Sweden, Macedonia, Turkey, Serbia, Kuwait and Democratic Republic of Congo.
“It is high time we upped our game. Hiring foreign coaches is everywhere because clubs wants to improve their game,” Shambulo said.
Krmpotic will lead Zesco in the CAF Confederation Cup and the Super Division
We hope Kapyongo will give him work permit.
“I would have loved to have a Zambian appointed by Zesco but you see we are looking at competition around the world so that we can improve our game in Zambia,” Shambulo said.
That should be told to Kamanga and Lungu who can’t get us a competitive national coach. Its only the reality that we are competing globally so we need coaches that can compete at that level. Zesco want to win the club championship and they have showed all of us that they will put their money where their targets are. Faz should work on a model to enable them have the capacity to employ a coach of Guardiola’s calibre
