President Edgar Lungu has observed the need for Zambians to live in harmony regardless of beliefs, denomination, tribe, race, political affiliation and backgrounds.

The Head of State said this in Chipata District during the Nc’wala Ceremony Traditional ceremony at Mtenguleni Village.

President Lungu says there is need for people to know that all citizens belong to this nation.

He notes that hardly a day passes without having to hear or read about insinuations of tribalism.

The Head of State states that this country was not founded on divisive thinking or behaviour, but on values that engenders harmony and that Zambians must advance a broad-based agenda that speaks to the diverse interests of all Zambians.

He reminds the nation that Zambia was founded on the firm principle of unity in diversity, under the motto “one Zambia one nation” saying that is why he will not tire in his efforts to promote national unity.

President Lungu also says he will continue to enlist the wisdom and support of traditional leaders and other stakeholders.

President Lungu also says this year, government is commencing the construction of the US$ 2.3 billion Chipata – Petauke – serenje railway line which is expected to create more than 8000 jobs.

He says he expects that all government departments involved in this project to adhere to the timetable to start construction no later than May 2017.

Speaking at the same ceremony, Paramount Chief Mpezeni commended Government for according Chipata with a city status.

Speaking through the Nc’wala traditional ceremony National Chairperson, Brighton Ngoma, Chief Mpezeni says Eastern Province has seen various developmental programmes which have led to economic growth.

Paramount Chief Mpezeni also announced that Eastern Province has seen a reduction in child marriages from 63 percent in 2013 to 40 percent this year.

He stated that the province used to record the highest cases of the ill vice and is now rated third in the country.

The Nc’wala traditional ceremony was held under the theme, ‘Unity and tolerance.’

    • Lungu would sound so convincing if only he was not the one who started the smear campaign against the bakachema tribes. Always look to the opposite of whatever Lungu says. Unfortunately.

    • Well said my dear president Lungu! Your rock! May your haters who are still in denial that you are the president hang themselves or hug a transformer

    • Well said my dear president Lungu! You rock! May your haters who are still in denial that you are the president hang themselves or hug a transformer

    • Our cultures are so rich and unique and its a joy that we have preserved them thus far. Zikomo! But A Mupezeni cover mendo ayo!

    • – Kuomboka, they don’t poach to dress chief & people.
      – Mutomboko, they don’t poach to dress chief & people.
So how can people live in harmony with each other if they can’t live in harmony with animals?

    • Agreed Mushota. Does Lungu listen to himself or among those that are always around him none wants to separate themselves from chaff and speak truthfully to the president? Lungu is in cahoots with promoters of the scourge he speaks about and thinks will just evaporate into thin air because he has commanded so! Zambians have become more analytical as streets are overflowing with thousands post grade 12 who seek better than humility and empty rhetoric! If divisions have become deep rooted forget “One Zambia One Nation” and go federal!

    • Awee mwe, Lungu. What are your priorities? You want to build a railway line between Chipata-Petauke-Serenje? For transporting what, Lungu? Instead of re-building the Kazungula – Sesheke road which is an extension of the great Trans-Namib Highway used by internatiinal transporters, you want to build the Chipata – Serenje Railway line which will be transporting nothing? In the same vein, it would have made sense had you said you want to build a railway line between Mulobezi and Sesheke with a view of connecting Zambia and Namibia’s Walvis Bay Port? Think Lungu think!

    • Better still Lungu, you would have helped Enoch Kavindele who campaigned for you to finish his Chingola\ Border Angola Railway line because these two projects have been long standing but would enhance economic development in Zambia and even create more employment than what you are saying.

  1. “Zambians should live in harmony” but but but My president the example of your violent PF cadres is exactly the opposite.Walk the talk Lungu.

    • A $2.3 billion railway to nowhere. What will it be transporting between Serenje and Chipata? Mozambique is smoldering with Renamo having gone back to the bush, ready to restart fighting. Any railway line to Mozambican Indian Ocean ports will be targeted for sabotage. What misplaced priorities!

    • The railing will connect to muchinji, which will link the Copperbelt, notrhten, lusaka and the rest of Zambia to Malawi and Mozambique opening Zambia to another seaport on a neighboring country.

I expected everyone to know that.

    • @Peace for Zambia
What are you going to transport on that locomotive since maize is a issue? You require export permit…maybe mice..really laughable!!

  2. Mr President you are the one causing divisions in the Country. See a log in your eye before you can see a speck in someone’s eye. Violence by your cadres is you, tribalism is you, said bakachema, up to now the petition has not been heard. Persecution of those deemed to be your enemies is you and unforgiving others is you. So how can people live in harmony? It has to start with you if at all you are expecting Zambians to live in harmony because you are the father to lead by example.

  3. There can be no harmony or peace without JUSTICE! Unfortunately Changwa has been so unjust to widows, orphans, the opposition, the press, and the list goes on. It’s pointless to just talk the talk without demonstrating the talk with the walk! Waste of time!

  4. Does this mean, everything in Zambia now is politics? People live your lives in harmony ,politics will not take you anywhere. Do not divert issues for your political mileage. When are you going to work? Every time is politicking time, this is insane naimwe. the topic is very clear even a grade 1 pupil will know, that the topic is about the Ngoni traditional ceremony, why bring in politics here? Go back to school and earn a career than barking here without thought, its a shame to have some of you on this forum. Its Lungu, hh , lungu, hh when are you going to work for mother Zambia Shaa?

  5. How does changes cause a lack of peace when it is other people who call on citizens to rise and fight.

So if other leaders call on people to rise up and fight then it Lungu?

  6. The Nseluka – Mpulungu rail line is a better and viable plan for the economy of Zambia. But this President is too focused on region (with Banda/Siliya) that he cannot think right. Zambia has only one Port, opening us up to Congo, Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania by water. The road leading to the port is pathetic, and common sense dictates that overloading it with cargo is simply unintelligible. While the God-given waters of Tanganyika lie dormant due to poor leadership anchored on tribe and region, and while the rail leading west towards one of the booming Angolan economy is barely discussed, we will be busy cutting through the escarpment towards Impoverished Malawi, or to nowhere! Could this low level of thinking be behind the declaration of Chipata as a city, over Kafue, Kabwe which deserve…

  7. Ba Lumba much as I respect your thought, I also doubt your intellect, it is easier to condemn someone from a point of ignorance than reality. You have mentioned Zambia, Congo, Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania in your complaint. Do you know all these countries ,are agreeable to your thought? Research before you pull your trigger on an innocent Lungu. Its like Donald Trump dreaming that why, all along there has been no peace between Israel and Palestine for all this time? I will fix it. What Zambia is today is what all former Zambian leaders left Zambia. Its no fault of Lungu. I am non partisan incase you mistake me for a pf cadre am not, but just a concerned Zambian like you or anybody. If really you are a person worth your salt, do not wait to make an impact in whichever way you can. No one…

  8. How can anyone listen to this rat when he does not respect the rule of law. Your presidency is not legitimate until the petition is heard and decided by independent adjudicators. Till then continue issuing baseless statements for dull people like ndanje and terrible kikiki

  9. Elo guys nakolewa mamama. I am curenelttly in Brighton united Kingdom visiting my relatives. Beers are flowing like no tomorrow. I love you all even pf cadres. We are all brothers. Waiting to see this boy Larry mwewtwa

  10. Every weekend this bum is on a drinking spree and making utterances he himself does not believe in. What has his Lazy Bum dont in the last 25 days of this month apart from touring…what is a useless man!!

Where are you going to get $2.5 billion and what are you going to transporting? Maize

  11. Just look at the bad language used by known upnd cadres such as NEZ,Jay Jay,its hell!!!upnd is a cased party.all its followers are lost.I 100% AGREE WITH SAULOSI THAT LET UPND CADRES HUNG OR HUG A ZESCO TRANSFORMER!!!AS PF WE ARE TOO HAPPY AND TOMORROW IT WILL BE DUNUNA REVERSE RELOARDED AT HEROES STADIUM!!WE SIMPLY DONT CARE ABOUT UPND AND ITS EVIL FOLLOWERS!!GO PF GO!!

    • You GO and ask the MMD Finance Minister Mutati where you are going to get 2.5 Billion dollars when he can not balance the budget…really laughable

  12. This Bum was in NW Province three days ago(Luapula Province before that) …now 2 days working holiday in Eastern Province then tomorrow the Lazy Bum is at Hero’s Stadium ….Zambians wake up you are paying these Lazy people to waste your hard earned tax!!

    Wake up People!!

    • Lazy is an utter waste of space …simply look at one John bulldozer Pombe Magufuli, the man has cleaned up Tanzania….what’s Lazy’s excuse?

You can take a Donkey to a pond to drink but you can not force it to drink!!

  13. So what have you done today, either for yourself, family or Zambia? Nothing just criticising everything every minute. The best is if you are fed up of Zambia, just hung yourself and die, cos the world is still looking for solutions and not armchair critics ,who have no clue of what it takes to look after a family let alone a country.
If Sir Isaac Newton had a cheap mind like most of you on this forum, the world would not have had aeroplanes. Cheap politiking all the time, we want real men who can face national problems head on. It’s not only governments problem to sort out the many issues many countries are facing today but a collective responsibility of every citizen who belong to that nation or society, but in Zambia where we have 98% of aimless critics nothing is moving. You want…

    • @Kapoma Kabaso

In your mind do you really think a convicted thief, Lungu, is the guy to develop Zambia? Ati armchair critics? If it wasn’t for chronic docility the whole nation should have risen up en mass against the whole bunch of thugs in govt you are now defending. Are you one of the plunderers? You sound like you are excited the way things are going backwards.

  14. The message is clear and only haters will try to shoot the messenger. Unity i strength and the sooner Zambians and Africans in general realise this, the better for our land.

Just observe the ants – you see them busy pacing up and down on the surface of the earth and think they’re just making useless movements. You crush them, put ant powder on them and think you stopped them but you can never be able to eliminate their network of underground tunnels and clolonies where their Queen reigns supreme.

  15. On 10th February 2017 – Lungu was talking about dealing with poverty. What does he say?

“Mr. Lungu said he will first consider Luapula because it is Luapula that enabled him to manage the 50 per cent plus one threshold in securing his victory in last year’s presidential elections”

Today he pretends to be encouraging unity and says he is President for all. Its not even the first time he has stated that development will firstly go to the areas where people voted for the PF. Does he suffer from amnesia? He has muzzled the free press because he does not want to be questioned on his numerous contradictory statements – which in essence tell us what he is.

  16. ECL is the most divisive and violent President since Independence in 1964. The 2016 Election remains disputed and people are in jail and being persecuted for belonging to the UPND. The Petition to determine the Winner of the Election is being blocked and Lungu is in power illegally and unconstitutionally. This is what is dividing the Nation. The solution is to hear the Petition so that Zambian s know who truly won the Election and who is the Legitimate President of Zambia. Zambian Courts have failed to hear the Petition and ICJ should now consider the Petition and declare the Winner. The Loser should accept ICJ’s Vedict and thereafter Zambian s can start the process of unity ,reconciliation and National Healing. No Petition Hearing. No unity, peace, reconciliation and National Healing…

  17. Iam a native of Nyimba it is a pure village over 50 years after independence.Nsenga land has been left behind because of poor representation. To be honest we have major rich traditional ceremonies but marginalised. ANSENGA wakeup,Chiefs wake up do not allow to be used.Eastern province has the Chewa kingdom with excellent leadership. The Tumbukas in the Lundazi area under Chief Magodi but it appears the all the concentration is on Mpezeni? Thats not right…Give us University or Agro industries or Technicon Colleges in NYIMBA, we beg!!

  18. If the UPNDonkeys had carried out a decent successon for Andy Mazoka, the fortunes of UPND would have taken a different path. We know for certain that had Mazoka not died he would have been President by now. That chance is gone forever now, I mean surely can anyone in his right senses compare Andy and HH? Its actually an insult to Andy to even think of any comparison.

  19. @Divide & Rule, Are you…..eh….that rabid dog? If so, I am safe, threaters like you cannot scare Terrible!
But I have cleaned and disinfected my ar.se just in case you even licked it.

Meantime I repeat, Andy Mazoka would have wished a decent succession and he will not stop turning in his grave until that is done.
UPNDonkeys are crying about petitions claiming that victory was “stolen” but as donkeys they conveniently forget that HH stole “the victory” at Mazoka’s succession from Sakwiba Sikota and Patrick Chisanga. This fact haunts them to this day because it made all UPNDonkeys to believe that all presidential victories have to be stolen The UPNDonkeys planted the seed of suspicion that haunts them today.

    • Yaba! Nimwe ba funtix, how do you write a chapter of nonsense as response to a 16 worded comment? Bushilu ubu, namulufya ama coordinates tata.

  20. ZAWA should arrest the village dancers where did they get leopard and lion skins ?!!!!!!!!!!! We need answers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Franchement, en quoi la façon dont Valls dit les choses pose-t-elle un problème ? Il n’est pas grossier, pas violent, pas excité. Je suis sincère, quto;qursa-&-il fait de mal ?
