The Parliamentary Committee on Local Government, Housing and Chiefs Affairs says Government has shown commitment towards alleviating the 1.5 million housing deficit in the Country.

Committee Chairman Maxwell Kabanda says the project in Ndola to build 8 thousand low, medium and high cost houses under Public Private Partnership- PPP is a milestone in the Country’s history.

Mr. Kabanda said this after paying a courtesy call on Copperbelt Minister Bowman Lusambo in Ndola.

The Law maker says a fortnight ago, Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo handed over 200 housing units to officers at Mukobeko Recreation Facility.

The Committee Chairperson says the Head of State recently officiated at a ground breaking ceremony of 2000 housing units for ZNS houses.

The MMD Serenje Member of Parliament says such efforts are important in cutting on the housing deficit which might hit 3 Million if nothing is done by the year 2020.

Mr. Kabanda also says the Parliamentary Committee on Local Government, Housing and Chiefs Affairs has recommended that the contractor who built houses at Chindwin Baracks should rectify mistakes.

He says the committee has observed that the 60 thousand capacity water tank is leaking while some prefab houses have started falling apart especially kitchens.

  1. Don’t tell me those chidwin houses are falling apart, anyway they are Chinese built, and Chinese always gives you a product equivalent to the amount of money you give them.

    • What I’m enjoying most nowadays is seeing the President being lied to as ministers aim at appeasing him while giving the the so called quarterly reports. It’s amazing. Mother Zambia! Kikiki.

As they believe that ONLY HH CAN DELIVER GOOD THINGS AND NOBODY ELSE-AMAZING!!

  3. I am am ENVIRONMENTALIST:COULD THERE BE A TREE and LAWN PLANTING EXERCISE IN THIS CAMP! It looks so bare and totally artificial!!

  4. WHY BOAST ABOUT HOUSES WITHOUT SORTING OUR SEWARAGE SYSTEMS, THERE WILL BE A TIME WHEN ALL THIS NONSENSE WILL BURST AND WE WILL SEEING TOILET ON THE ROADS AND FRONT DOORS OF THESE SO CALLED HOUSES!!! SORT OUT SEWER *****S!!

  5. Misisi ,Kamwala,Kalingalinga and other such poverty stricken places where 80% of Zambians live are truly huge scars on all of us.

  6. Maxwell Kabanda is a seasoned local government administrator, having worked as Town Clerk for many years. He knows what he’s talking about, except I don’t know why he ran away from Kalulushi, just like Jack Mwiimbu and stood in his village. He could have easily scooped that seat on any ticket. These buju houses have brought with them challenges because bwana mkubwa wants to shift to new houses meant for juniors at Police posts, leaving those old Welensky’s ramshackle structures. Have a feel of new houses before retirement and overstay in them while waiting for delayed pension
