Minister of Justice Given Lubinda says his Ministry has started identifying clauses in the constitution that need to be amended.
Mr Lubinda says the exercise is important for the harmonization of the country’s legislation.
He says the ministry has a backlog of pieces of legislation that need amendments in line with the amended constitution.
Mr Lubinda says the ministry is keen on ensuring that a new and more effective method of administration is reflected in the legislation.
The Minister also says its government’s desire that every Zambian has access to improved legislative pieces.
He said this when he received Zambia Law Development Commission’s reports in Lusaka.
And Zambia Legal Development Commission chairperson Roydah Kaoma said the commission is committed to carrying out its mandate to review and develop laws.
Justice Kaoma said the laws should meet the changing needs of Zambians.
She noted that the country has a number of pieces of legislation that need to be reviewed because they are old.
Constitutional changes led by politicians always = self serving clauses .Put the damned changes to a referendum PFools.
One that places the executive arm of government at par with the legislature and judiciary is a must for as per Lungu’s declaration he is above the two! CLIP PRESIDENTIAL POWERS!
Amendment for what and for who? Is it for better or for worse to an ordinary Zambian? Politicians just waste our precious time and public resources talking about issues which do not add any value to the welfare of the citizens. Politics in Zambia needs a complete overhaul. People who are thinking straight and have genuine love for the zambian people and for our country Zambia need to be in political office. Not every Jim and Jack who end up turning into dictators.

How about we start with amending the heading and changing “Amandment” to “Amendment”. Do that first before I can get to read what Taken is ranting about.
Will that include the useless public order act?
Anything with regards to cohercing parties to accept elections very quickly when they lose will do well as well
Refusal of rallies and campaigns until a year before elections will go well as well me thinks
Amend the constitution to suit the landscape of political tensions right now

I hope they will amend pieces of legislation to align with the constitution and not amend pieces the constitution to align with any political interest especially the 50%+1 and the speaker acting during election petition hearing.
What does the constitution as amended say about a person who fails to uphold it?
FIRSTLY CAN THEY FIRST TELL THE CITIZENS OF ZAMBIA WHAT THEY WANT TO CHANGE AND FIRST FIND OUT IF THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA WANT THE “PIECES OF LEGISLATION” CHANGED. THE COUNTRY BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA NOT JUST AN ELITE FEW.

Laughable, they went to Heroes Stadium with fan fare, transported cadres from all over the country and spent a lot of money to sign a defective constitution.

Useless chaps. Signing documents they have no idea about. This is what happens when decisions are made based on political loyalty and not objectivity. Can we also be told how many people these defective clauses have negatively affected
This man has a diploma in Agricultural Economics and he is Justice minister…really laughable…surely we know what clauses such a tin would look to amend especially now the main opposition party is disorganised.
