A team from Toyota Tsusho Corporation will this month visit Zambia to undertake feasibility studies for the establishment of an off-grid energy solution pilot project.
Toyota Tsusho Corporation Chief Division Officer, TAKASHI HATTORI says his company will travel to Zambia this month to access the prospects for establishment of the project.
Mr. HATTORI says an Off-grid power solution will NOT only power the communities but has the advantage of improving rural communities’ livelihoods.
He says his company has the technology and through the use of solar and NAS batteries could help Zambia deal with the power deficit.
“Solar could be installed in a shorter period of time and it has low maintenance costs. The added advantage of installing power in rural areas is the improved quality of life and health,” said Mr. HATTORI.
He said his company whose footprint is mainly in automotive is also interested in empowering local people through establishment of out-grower schemes.
Mr. HATTORI said Toyota is providing irrigation and training and hope to increase yields by seven folds.
He said his company has noticed that the people particularly in Mumbwa, Chirundu and Siavonga Districts where they are interested to invest use unsophisticated farming systems.
The company’s planned investment and trip to Zambia follows a meeting in May with officials from the Zambian Embassy in Tokyo and a delegation from the Zambia Development Agency -ZDA-, Zambia
Consolidated Copper Mines Investment Holdings –ZCCM IH- and Lusaka South Multifacility Economic Zone.
This is the best time to complain about that Toyota Dealership in Lusaka that is tarnishing their brand with shambolic service!!
Do tell more please…
At least SOMETHING TO BE HAPPY ABOUT! This shows that AT LEAST SOMEWHERE THERE IS SOME EMBASSY OFFICIAL DOING THEIR JOB and that ZDA has managed bring SOMETHING VERY RELEVANT TO THE RURAL COMMUNITIES and FURTHER, THAT ZAMBIA IS STILL BEING REGARDED AS A GOOD COUNTRY TO DO BUSINESS WITH!!
Thank God they were not based in Sweden or RSA because some known crooks would have been singing about it on their social media news page!!
