Chibalashi ward Counselor in Luapula Province’s Chipili Constituency Chalwe Mambwe has bemoaned the delay in completion of public infrastructures by constructors in the newly created District.
Speaking yesterday, Mr. Mambwe said the contractors have abandoned the Civic Centre, the Police Camp and some council houses in Chipili District.
And Mr. Mambwe has observed with sadness that some contractors in Chipili District were only interested in getting the money from Government and later on abandon the projects.
The civic leader has since appealed to Government to at least finish the structures at the District offices for Council employees to ease their work.
“The delay in completion of public infrastructures by constructors in the newly created District is affecting us” Mambwe said
Meanwhile, Lusaka Central Constituency Ward 14 Independence Councilor George Daka says the council will soon re-locate street vendors in some selected alleyways in Lusaka.
Four months ago the civic leader revealed that plans to remove street vendors from the Central District Business (CDB) reached an advanced staged.
Mr. Daka said some shop owners have already been talked to and are willing to cooperate with the council regarding the development, adding that the project is long overdue and it is high time action.
The civic leader also revealed that the Lusaka City have finished renovating the clinic at civic centre and will soon be officially opened.
“The council will soon re-locate street vendors in some selected alleyways in Lusaka” Daka said
Are we so helpless as citizens that these contractors can get government money, our money, and abandon projects just like that? There’s something which can be done to bring these people to book. Its just too much.
