The Ministry of Health, working with other stakeholders, has intensified sensitization efforts on condom use in rural areas.
Ministry of Health spokesperson Dr. Kamoto Mbewe told ZANIS in Lusaka today that government would work with the Society for Family Health (SFH) and Planned Parenthood Association of Zambia (PPAZ), among others, to promote condom use in rural areas.
He said the ministry of health is also working with neighborhood communities to sensitize people in rural areas on the need to use condoms as a contraceptive and for protection from sexually transmitted diseases.
Dr. Mbewe said community-based organization organizations would also be engaged to alert residents about the availability of condoms at health centers both in rural and urban areas.
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) country representative Duah Owusu-Sarfo on Monday said some people in rural areas have indicated that they have never seen a condom in their life.
Mr. Owusu- Sarfo, in a speech read on his behalf by the organization’s programme Officer Florence Mulenga during a public sector condom promotion workshop last week, said people in rural areas have inadequate knowledge about condoms.
He also observed that communities in such localities had a lot of myths and misconceptions about condoms.

For family planning yes, and not for casualization. People, that includez our rural colleaguez, shud be educated personal upright conduct and then allowed to make informed decizionz. No upright religious grouping will preach condomz with a free mind.
Promotion of codom use is not education, it is immorality.Planned Parenthood is EUGENICS.Planned Parenthood plan is to get rid the world of “inferior” human groups in the name of family planning.
