Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) Chiengi Lawmaker Given Katuta has applauded the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for reuniting with estranged members who called for a convention to oust Edith Nawakwi from the helm of power.

In an interview, Ms. Katuta the FDD’s maturity is unparalleled on the Zambian political landscape as it demonstrates true leadership of tolerance.

Ms. Katuta, who is the only FDD Parliamentarian, said in a democracy it was healthy for political parties to have intra party wrangles which should also be given space for reconciliation as political jobs part time.

And Ms. Katuka said after the successful reconciliation of FDD belligerent members she can represent the Party and the people of Chiengi well in Parliament.

Earlier this year the vice president Chifumu Banda and others were suspended for pressurizing the FDD to call for an elective convention with intent to replace Ms. Nawakwi.

“I commend our party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for reuniting with estranged members who called for a convention to oust Edith Nawakwi from the helm of power” Ms. Katuta said

Meanwhile, National Coordinator for the pressure group dubbed “Save FDD” Lawrence Mwelwa has described the reconciliation in the FDD as a milestone in building a competent leadership in the party for human development.

“This is a milestone in building a competent leadership in the party for human development” Mwelwa said

  1. But how many terms has Edith served??? Then tomorrow she should get up and start insulting other politicians in the name of democracy??? This is pure wamuyayaya syndrome. A SHAM OF DEMOCRACY. If these smaller parties can start merging and floating better leaders, they could achieve more. Imagine FDD, NAREP, GREENS, Eric Chanda and Andiford teamed up and put each character in their strongest positions, they would do better. eg. FDD and it’s structures float a VP, NAREP has a good cluster of intelligent guys, Eric Chanda can be National Secretary, Andiford does strike me as a calm, calculating guy who can head such a group, Elias as Legal Advisor or second VP…I don’t know….just a thought….
