Speaking in Parliament recently during the Debate on the Estimates of the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Kopulande said in Zambia investors can take out their money at any time unlike in the USA because the country has no exchange controls.
Dr. Kopulande also challenged the Ministry of Planning in collaboration with line ministries to drive an investment promotion and agenda to develop the country since Zambia has the resources.
And Kopulande noted that Zambia shall remain to be a poor country if the capacities of individuals who have the skills are not recognized and utilized in the contribution to national development.
“Zambia is economically more liberalized than the United States of America” Kopulande said

To be honest, regarding the capacity of individuals with skills being utilised in Zambia will never happen, hence, consigning Zambia to perpetual poverty.
I will give you a just example and leave it for anyone in disagreement with my comment to extrapolate and reason from it.
Dora Siliya… honestly, how does a news reader head Ministry of Agriculture? It makes you wonder the sort of strategy at play. This ministry requires an individual with skills, knowledge and technical resources honed in Agricultural activities.
There are individuals more capable to head that ministry than Dora honestly, hence, my reasoning to my earlier assertion about Zambia being consigned to perpetual poverty.
Everything seems to be misapplied or misallocated in Zambia. It remains to be seen whether…

Again it tells you a lot about the credibility of the appointing authority. What can Dora advise Lungu on matters of agriculture when both know nothing? The country is on autopiloting.

You’re spot on. What does an MBA and a Masters degree in mass communication have to do with agriculture? What is needed is a person with proper understanding of agriculture from a practical and technical perspective. Almost every person now can get an MBA because a lot them are on sale to the highest bidder. This does not mean that everyone has the technical knowledge and experience to run the ministry of Agriculture.
I think it’s more to do with Mind set. We are poor because a White man tells us that we are poor. We are poor in comparison to who? Why is a white man our standard? The same people are telling us that we are poor but they come here to take our resources. So who is poor and who is rich? The one with the resources or the other person?
Having resources and using them are two different things. Even the Bible says to whom much is given, much is expected. What can you expect from Africans despite having a lot of resources. Again the holy book says even the little will be taken away from you if you can’t use them.
The idea that we are rich is false!!! We are poor because we don’t know what to do with emeralds, gold, copper, manganese, cobalt, nickel… We have no technology.
The whites have their bad side, but it is true we are poor!!!

I don’t know who gave you seven thumbs up but the truth is we are poor. We can’t afford proper health care, can’t afford good food, can’t collect garbage, no proper roads, people living in mud houses, using pit latrines, cholera and so on. All this is because WE HAVE NO MONEY. HAVING NO MONEY MEANS WE ARE POOR. Eating once a day is not a mind set. The land is rich in natural resources but the inhabitants are poor. Speaking of poor!!!! Many zambians are poor in their minds. They choose/vote their leaders for the wrong reasons. These leaders have failed to formulate economic policies that can combine the human and natural resources that the country has in order to reduce poverty among the citizens. So remember this our poverty is “intellectual poverty”. Many zambians are simply able to communicate, but unable to see beyond their noses.
Just swallow your pride and continue munching a cob of maize. Pick the poorest state in America. That state is at least ten times better than Zambia, and economically more affluent. Now take all fifty states, inter-connected by the world’s best road system, via internet and telecommunication systems, etc.! Where is the comparison here?

Very true, honourable. In Zambia, goat herders from Lebanon become managers or spanner boys from India become engineers. In America or Europe they wouldn’t even get past the border!! Local skilled labour or professionals are overlooked in favour of semi-literate foreigners with fake qualifications. We lack serious controls.
