Patson and Kalale were part of the first Zambian team to qualify for the CAF U17 Cup although the latter did not go to the 2015 Niger finals after he was left paralyzed following a road traffic accident in December 2014.

Kalale died last December 17 on his birthday following a short illness in Lusaka.

“I want to take this opportunity to dedicate this award to my late friend and Brother Changwe Kalale and the people of Zambia and my club RB Salzburg and everyone who has supported me to achieve this award,” Patson said.

“And to my fellow young players I want to encourage you that this is the beginning of better things to come.
“Let us change the face of African football for we are the future of African football.”

Patson becomes the second Zambian player to win the accolade after Clifford Mulenga did so in 2007.

He beat off competition for the award from Krepin Diatta of Senegal and Salam Giddou from Mali.

  1. Some good news finally. Congratulation to Patson Daka, you have done Zambia proud. The moment I saw that your competition was the Juju boy from Senegal I knew you are bringing the title home.

    • @Mwenya, they assumed you do not live on the moon and also that you read other stories that they posted earlier. This is a continuation of previous three article that have been published here. Remember this is online media and space is a resource not to waste.

    • Kci journalists never make such assumptions. Each story should be a completed product on its own. Just visit the CNN or BBC websites. They never commit such mistakes

  2. Well done Patson you have done us proud as a nation. Continue flying the Zambian flag even to higher heights, you are true patriotic player. I know disgruntled characters from the tribal grouping will not welcome your achievement, they don’t want to hear good things happening in Zambia as long as their god is not in the state house, but we patriotic Zambians are celebrating with you. GO patson Go, Go Zambia go, go chipolopolo go.

    • What has HH got to do with your empty head. You always accuse HH of being tribal but you are the first ones to do so. I don’t get it. Zambia needs a sane leader.

  3. You spoke with confidence and you spoke with wisdom. I am not surprised because everytime I see you on the pitch, I see confidence, intelligence and wisdom. You are a great sportsman with a very bright future. Continue doing us proud.
