President Edgar Lungu says the creation of new districts in the country is irreversible because the decision made by government is meant to benefit the people.

President Lungu said people in the new districts should efficiently benefit from services of government.

Mr. Lungu stated that government has heard the cries of people to have a decentralized form of administration and governance at bottom level from a centralized one.

ZANIS reports that the President Lungu said this in Lavushimanda district when he met Chief Mpumba and Chundaponde-Chibwabwa of the Bisa speaking people.

The Head of State pledged that government will provide the necessary infrastructure in conformity to the district status of Lavushimanda through provision of good road and communication networks.

Mr. Lungu noted that the provision of good infrastructure, electricity and water supply will spur development in the area.

Speaking earlier, the traditional leaders commended the Head of State for creating Lavushimanda as a district.

Chief Chundamponde said they would rally behind President Lungu and his administration towards the realization of economic development in their district.

President Lungu also held private talks with the traditional leaders in Lavushimanda and Kachibiya districts respectively.

Senior Chief Kopa, Chief Luchembe, Chief Kabinga and Chief Mpepo also conferred and met with the Head of State.

President Lungu later held a mammoth public rally at Muchelenje and Chalabesa Basic school grounds where he explained government’s determination and roadmap to developing the two districts and Muchinga Province as a whole.

The two districts, Lavushimanda and Kachibiya were previously part of Mpika district.

Meanwhile, Republican President Edgar Lungu has assured the people of Kanchibiya that he will soon appoint a District Commissioner who will provide leadership.

Mr. Lungu says that it is his wish to appoint a District Commissioner who will be able to lead the people adding that a person who cannot accept to be led cannot be a good leader.

The President said this when he addressed hundreds of residents who gathered at Chalabesa Secondary School in Kanchibiya District of Muchinga Province to give him a
thunderous welcome, yesterday.

Mr. Lungu said he is disappointed that a number of projects have stalled in the province adding that he will ensure that projects are completed and
those that are critical will be given priority.

Mr. Lungu said he is happy that traditional leaders and community at large have welcomed the idea of creating more districts and told them that it was too early for
Kanchibiya to be divided into another district as it needs to be developed before such action can be taken.

And speaking on his colleagues’ behalf, Chief Luchembe told President Lungu that as Chiefs they are more than grateful for the newly created district
and is optimistic that the district will soon develop.

He appealed to President Lungu to ensure that roads connecting the chiefdoms in the district are worked on as this will help speed up
development in the area.
