The Shameful xenophobic attacks in South Africa saw the birth of the African Diaspora Forum (ADF) with 32 actively participating National communities. This was to educate the South African community about Africa in general, which ignorance proved to be the major cause of the attacks on the foreign nationals and the looting of their businesses.
The ADF with the partnership of LOC 2010 (FIFA) and independent Media (the Star newspaper) initiated a Youth African Soccer Cup in the East of Johannesburg targeting 20 schools.
The schools adopted an African country and wore its colors and sang its national anthem.
Zambia was adopted by Jules High School who were called chipolopolo all the way to the Finals until they were crowned Champions in the Boys senior category. The event was graced by the presence of H.E Leslie Mbula the Zambian High commission to South Africa,Senegalese, Moroccan and Egyptian representatives. The Chelsea star Didier Drogba was also present.
This was centrally to the Real Zambian National team who fail to make a name at big tournaments. One learner from Jules High school said, ‘its good to be a Zambian after the Final!”
Mr. Benjamin Simunyola a Zambian national , was in all the areas to see that the tournament was a success. “It has been rough organizing this event, but thank GOD it has happened. I am one of those people who will not cerebrate Zambia’s win because by virtue of my position I belong to all the participating teams”, said Mr. Simunyola
“This is a wake up call to Zambia National team, if these poor boys can do it, what of the High spending National team? said Mr. Simunyola.
ok, this sounds good.
Educate them. I hope they will stop their violence!
Diasopora team do Zambia proud….naufwa ne chikonko!
>>>>>>>>cerebrate<<<<<<<<<
Please educate those South African about Zambia’s sacrificial contribution to their independence. It’s possible that many local South Africans who never went out of teh country dont know as much as those who were exiled.
How about building some kind of “war museum” or history building within RSA to specifically depict Zambia’s contribution. That’s one way to educate generations of South Africans.
The Jews have Holocaust museums all over, the UK and Europe have war museums as well. How about that, ADF-Zambians.
good initiative bane, keep it up.
Please also Educate them that the VICTORIA FALLS is not only found in Zimbabwe but also in ZAMBIA, Livingston. Many people from different parts of the world have been arguing with me that the victoria fall is in ZIMBABWE and not ZAMBIA. This is a challenge to all the diaspora that we need to market our country to the tourists who ussually visit ZIM and not ZAMBIA with this notion in mind….
#7 Ward 21
And lets tell them Zambia is not in South Africa. People in the West can be pretty ignorant.
Ward 21, sometimes instead of arguing with them, just tell them what they can accept e.g. your relatives still live in trees and your own an elephant for a pet. My friend used to do that when we were at university.
#7 I thought i was the only one people from other country agued that with. Guys alot of people dont know that Vic falls is part of Zambia. It goes to show how little Zambia is doing to advertising itself to the world. See Namibia, Angola, botswana etc advertising their countries on CNN, BBC even algezeera(or whaever the spell it)
Ward #7 and UK 8…. it leaves me wondering what the visit Zambia campaign has been doing since it was formed!!!!
I had hard time trying to explain to black South Africans about Zambia than with the white folks. Most blacks in SA seem to know about Lusaka, but not Zambia. Lusaka was used as HQ for freedom fighters from the region.
The South African education system is very poor in Geography. Even the most educated South Africans dont know the geographical locations of country, cities, etc around the world. I am proud of Zambian Edu there
# 7 war 21, ONE FUNNY THING IS THAT MANY PEOPLE KNOW “GAMBIA” a tiny west African country BETTER THAT “ZAMBIA.” I Therefore suggest that the tourist board of Zambia should distribute magazines, booklets or card to all the zedian leaving the country for distribution to their destination may be the world will know about us.
I thought it was the ‘Jabu’ forum in central downtown Johannesburg….
UK-Zed Observer wrote and I quote ” And lets tell them Zambia is not in South Africa. People in the West can be pretty ignorant.

As my dear UK-Zed Observer please do not ever agree or allow any Zambian or African to agree to such vile beliefs and stereo types to be perpatuated further. We were kings and Pharoahs we build cities and educated the world. Timbuktu were greeks came to get knowledge and gold. Zimbazamabwe, Ngombeilede, brick cities before the Puppet Shaka was ever invented.
In Jesus’s name tell them the truth please.
#15.. MWANAWAKWITU ..I agree with your advice to UK-ZED observer. I thing he still need to be liberated from the mantal slavery that still lock his mind and soul. He must know that Africa was the land of Queen and Kings, the first university was built on mama Africa, We taught OSTROLOGY to the world, even the concept of CHRISTIANITY was truely borrowed from African religion many 100 years before the birth of christ and many more reasons to boast about. UK ZED observer must dig deeper to his roots and be able to stand strong rather that accepting the wicked babylon backward thinking. please be an ambassader to your race.
