Chief Government Spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha has disclosed that Local Government and Housing Minister Benny Tetamanshimba and Home Affairs Deputy Minister Misheck Bonshe who are admitted at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) are recovering well.

And Lieutenant General Shikapwasha has urged people in the country to pray for the two Ministers for a speed recovery.

In interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Lt-Gen Shikapwasha, who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister said Mr. Tetamanshimba and Mr. Bonshe are feeling much better.

“Teta is picking up from his illness while Mr. Bonshe is feeling much better. I urge the people of Zambia to pray for our two Ministers and wish them a speed recovery,” Lt-Gen Shikapwasha said.

Mr. Tetamanshimba, who was earlier evacuated to South Africa was brought back and has since been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at UTH while Mr. Bonshe is also admitted there.

He said government will keep updating the nation on the health of the two ministers.

Meanwhile, the National Revolution Party (NRP) President Cosmo Mumba has accused government of not updating the nation on the health of the Minister of Local Government and Housing Benny Tetamashimba’s condition.

In a separate interview with ZANIS, Dr. Mumba said the Minister of Health Kapembwa Simbao, should inform the nation on Mr. Tetamashimba’s condition because the nation wanted to know how he was doing.

Dr. Mumba has since appealed to President Rupiah Banda to allow Mr. Tetamshimba to take a rest from his duties when he is discharged from hospital.

He said handling both the ministerial position and politics was a lot of work and requires one to have enough rest.

  1. Why asking christians to pray for your fellow politicians? Since christians are not supposed to be involved in governance as you always say leave them alone.Infact you as a reverand could pray for them

  2. I THOUGHT PEOPLE WHO WERE SICK WERE BEING TAKEN TO SOUTH AFRICA FOR BETTER TREATMENT, NOW YOU TAKE A PERSON TO SOUTH AFRICA YOU BRING THEM BACK DEAD AND AGAIN ADMIT THEM TO THE HOSPITAL WHICH YOU DISSERTED AT THE START. ITS LIKE GOING BACK TO A PROSTITUTE AFTER DAMPING HER.

  3. How can someone be improving suddenly at UTH who was discharged from hospital in SA due to deteriorating condition? This minister is not telling the truth. Teta will never enter Local govt ministry again, he is just waiting for a hearse to carry him. The govt must accept the situation by informing me people correct condition of the patient. Teta’s illness first went to his brain and the evidence is by the way he was handled the buying of hearses and suspension of Livingstone mayor. Mentally he lost it a long time ago and physically he been appearing very poorly too.

  4. It is right to pray for our leaders to be in good health also that they may have the wisdom from God not to oppress people;;; also that they fear God by the way they lead Gods people.

  5. Well we will all die but lets hope this one goes now, then the chief rigger must go aswell and then shikashiwa pastor then akulu mpuno will remain alone Go Sata HH

  6. Yaba cabipa mwe! Ati ka Teta “is picking up”. That is bad news batata bashi Kamona. Naya nakuma painti nomba. I hope to hear good news tomorrow after my hang over-that ka Teta has kicked the bucket and ci VJ AIDS yashupa nomba. Zambians pray that ka Teta dies quickly and ci VJ ama ARVs yaleka ukubomba.

  7. #6 that is so funny. LOL. I thought Shikapwa was a Rev, why is he lying like that? Teta is a goner, it very evident that the illness went to his brain. Teta started uku sabaila longtime ago. That was the right time to take him to the hospital, they waited too long. Now he is brain dead. I think it got to expensive to keep him in SA, because in the US if a person is in ICU its like $95,000 a week and this is the truth .

  8. Imwe Ba LT your site has come up as one of the unsafe sites. I have just been warned that this site carries a virus! J nabanobe ninshi?

  9. Old age and sickness bring out the essential characteristics of a man.I bet time to test the hearses draws near. It’s no longer a question of staying healthy. It’s a question of finding a sickness you like.

“Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.”

  10. Thank you very much Mama stevens, many blessings too to you and ya lovely family,Twali pa summer holiday kaili ….thanks once again.

  11. Is anyone aware of ZATLESA on facebook? Apparently, that is a group whose full name is Zambians Against Treatment of Leaders in South Africa. I do not know under what circumstances Mr Teta was brought back to Zed in such a condition, but I was thinking may be someone got wind of the existence of such a group. We shall wait and see whether it (ZATLESA) will have any impact.

  12. Well well well!!!! teta is finished !!!and just after we thought we had seen the last him, here come shikapwasha to replace his antics in the press. teta better say his own prayers coz he upset a lot of zambians.

  13. The same news was given when Mwanawasa was sick and what came out was DEATH. What I know is that TETA is about to go. soon or latter you will hear this news. Ronnie pray for them since you are a Reverend. How can we pray for a politician, we are not politicians and that’s what you said.

  14. EVERYBODY BRINGS JOY AND HAPPINESS TO MOTHER ZAMBIA. SOME WHEN THEY ARRIVE. OTHERS WHEN THEY DEPART. Good luck Hon. Teta.

  15. #26 Am sure you don’t have family. Do you know how the 14 Teta’s children going through? Do you know how much he woes witchdoctors in Solwezi? Teta is badly needed let me live, its not time for him to go and rest in peace.

  16. ANY COMMENTS FROM SYLVIA MASEBO ON TETA’S ILLNESS? WOULD I BE WRONG TO CONCLUDE THAT BEAUTIFUL AS LADY SM MAYBE, MWANA WABAKULU…..ANATUNDILA TETA…..MANY THANKS TO HER. KWASALA VJ MANJE! WHAT PRAYERS, OUR PRAYERS GO TO THE POOR MAJORITY OUT THERE AS THEY STRUGGLE TO PUT A SINGLE MEAL ON THE TABLE NOT THESE BUFFOONS, POLITICAL PROSTITUTES & SCAM BAGS!!!! PRAY FOR YOUR FAKINI SELVES

  17. Shikapwasha’s comments deserve to be treated with a pinch of salt. If Teta is recovering then it he would have accomplished a ressurectus act of biblical proportions. However, knowing how feeble a mortal that bootlicker of the worst order is, he is busy breathing his last, contrary to “Two Chickens’ ” comments of steady recovery. Enough is enough, his hearse is waiting for him to deliver him to his last resting place. I just hope his family is ready with a 300,000 grudas for hire fee, he set it himself anyway.

  18. Well, its always sad to lose a person, but this time round for Teta it will be good redance and prayer answered if he went earlier that now. We shall find him if theres such a thing

  19. Scientists have scored a major victory in the search for an HIV vaccine after discovering antibodies that attack the virus which causes Aids.

The discovery could pave the way for a vaccine against the virus, which kills over two million people worldwide each year. About 33 million people are living with Aids globally.

A report in Friday’s Times newspaper in the UK said the discovery was important “because it highlights a potential way around HIV’s defences against the human immune system, which have so far thwarted efforts to make a workable vaccine.”

    Blood samples

The hope now is that a vaccine that stimulates the production of these antibodies could remain effective against HIV even as the virus mutates.

The antibodies were discovered in a study of blood…

  20. The antibodies were discovered in a study of blood samples from more than 1,800 HIV-positive volunteers, from several countries in sub-Saharan Africa as well as the UK, the US, Thailand and Australia. The samples were then screened for broadly neutralising antibodies against the virus, which very few patients make themselves.

The report said the antibodies would not have been identified without a new method of hunting for them, developed by a company called Monogram Biosciences.

Said Christos Petropoulos, its chief scientific officer: “If you think of it as a fishing expedition, we and the rest of the field were previously using the wrong bait in the search for HIV-specific broadly neutralizing antibodies.”

Scientists from the International Aids Vaccine Initiative (IAVI)…

  21. Scientists from the International Aids Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) are now examining the antibodies for clues to vaccine design.

“The findings themselves are an exciting advance toward the goal of an effective Aids vaccine because now we’ve got a new, potentially better target on HIV to focus our efforts for vaccine design,” Wayne Koff, senior vice-president of IAVI, which led the consortium behind the research, told the Times.

“Having identified this one, we’re set up to find more, which should further accelerate global efforts in Aids vaccine development.”

Aids vaccine research has foundered to date because HIV mutates more quickly and easily than any other human pathogen yet discovered. Vaccines work by teaching the immune system to recognise a particular germ and…

  22. Wooh, what deasese has hit these Kaonde Ministers? Some one should investigate?Next will be Kabinga Pande. Chief Mumena find out from Chiefs Inshindi, Kanongesha and Ndungu.

  23. particular germ and release antibodies to neutralise it, but HIV’s shape-shifting nature allows it to evade these defences very rapidly.

  24. Bwana chimona are you sure your friend teta is ‘recovering’? Politicians learn to tell a bit of truth sometimes. Munfwashani nga tamubepelepo? Your ass.

  25. Shikapwasha is telling lies about the two dying ministers! Remember we were told that LPM was well and even jogging in France, but the truth was that the man had already died!

  26. Ati kuti wafunya umutuutu kumushi wamuleta mu town. Lelo teti ufunye umushi mumutwe wakwe. Abengi amablogaz ama comenti yabutuutu kwati tabaaba mufyalofya fyaba advanced. Casoni sana. Honestly how do you feel good about someone dying and think the world would be better of without such a one?

  27. #22 Dongo na Sundu. I think ZATLESA is being vindicated. The “reverse” evacuation of Benny Tetafimofimo should spur our government to do the correct thing–improve the UTH, improve Kaoma Hospital, improve Nyimba Hospital. Our leaders may not know when they will be admitted to these hospitals. One would have expected Tetafimofimo to be admitted at Hilltop, Care for Business or any of these fancy fipatalas, but he was taken to the UTH when he was rejected (discharged?) in South Africa. Support ZATLESA because when there are enough numbers, a candle light vigil will be organised at the UTH and other hospitals.

  28. #43 The world will remain the same with Teta or without Teta but you dont wish some one dying to die very fast. What wrong did Teta do. It appears this man made alot of enemies. In any case let us learn to forgive those who have sinned against us.

  29. I have started writing life history of (1) Ben Teta, Misheck Bonshe, Kabinga Pande, as for Richard Taima, no need. Contributions needed to complie the data bukiji bukiji. As the Lunda and Luvales please start preparing the TUDANGUs in case something worse happened. We love ours in happiness, difficult imes like this one for Teta and Bonshe and we will mourn until we return them to the soil. After all no one will dry up like a tree on this earth. Its written clearly in the Holy Bible that ” Man born out of a woman shall one day die and return to the soil.Teta is at his weakest point and its evil for one to wish him quick departure. The had a strong will to speak out without fear or favour. Mwana mulume kitonji. Whatever the result his political courage will be missed.

  30. Nothing wrong with wishing someone dead, especially if that person is a liability to the larger group….at least just wishing him dead is better than literally killing him which i think would be more deserved. Its not like the many zambians dying as result of his actions are less human than he is….so ba Dongo na Sundu mwe ba mu town, we the villagers are watching this space for news of someone demise….

  31. Apparently there is a virus that was sprayed on Kanitundila’s head, jacket and boot by a monkey during a news conference. Now here is the connection, since its part of Teta’s job to lick Kanitundila’s boot, he swallowed some of the infected monkey P I S S remains on Kanitundila’s book whence the tracoma-caposis he is at the moment battling. The South African Sangomas ordered that this particular monkey be captured so that they can cook it with strong “muti” to ressurect Teta from the slumber hence the recent round-up of all primates in State House. However, apparently Banda gave it to Sata who has already “umunanied” it. The verdict is death for Teta, no other way. MHSRIP.

  32. For this reason, Sangomankhulu ordered the evacuation of Teta from Azania fearing the none delivery of the naughty monkey could spark a pandemic in his Kingdom from a disease whose only cure now rests in Sata’s bowels and the cobra will not deliver unless Zuma pays him his 70,000 grudas Mboweni confisticated from him at OR Airport years ago. Awe sure, vinthu va zandelela ku Zambia uku, I wonder who is next but looking at Kunda’s lips and his dry cough, he might be next. State funerals ya fulisha saana pa Zed, we’ll see who will be there for 2011, maybe Maureen and Vera should run 2011.

  33. Let Teta malilo test tumatenga malilo he bought for the suffering majority so that thye can be taken to the other side of town faster. Whats all this fuss about this dull person from govt? kindly finish him off quickly. This current govt has insulted almost all the sectors of society. Continue giving him tap water not even panadol. waiting for his immediate passing on.

  34. #49 Ardonis

I understand heartless people. So I am not surprised. The irony is that whomsoever people like you look up to as a better person than Teta & to do everything for everyone does not exist in Zambia. So whether someone has crossed peoples’ lines does not give him a ticket to the grave. Have you ever thought of him as being a father to an extent that his children are still looking up to him? What feelings do you have for such innocent ones? Anyway, e demokrasi mwaeba mwebene, katuuleke tata kutiwatukwa.

  35. GUYZ !!!! I ve got great news…. TETA NAFWA !! Am just from the UTH !! no more boasting nanjala bout the VX , SAFE TRIP AS HE GOES TO HELL !!Chngwere here comes tetamashimba !!!

  36. No 59, please dont cause false alarm here. You are here in UK going by your flag and yet you say u are from UTH. What manner of lie is that. I know that most people would want Teta dead, but to cause false alarm is not the best of a thing to do especially on death issues

  37. #61 Sometimes these flags dont mean a country the blogger is blogging from. For example me am in Chililabombwe but I have some strange flag.

  38. Yaba and malovian….. Lets just apply there is a vacancy in government…. Yaba… to be frank with you TETA is gone PERIOD !! Malovian do not be mistaken am a lusaka dweller , this aftiz I took it personal and went to the UTH to visit my friend who is a Doc there… Guess what he told me.. BA TETA BELI KWI BAAYALALA BAYALALA KWI GUUMBO UKU TAKUYA BABWELA !!! I guess you knw what it means…..

  39. 63 How re they in village HAHAHAHA !!! Welcome Back !! Hope you ve had you CV done , there is huge jack potted vacancy in government….

  40. #39,49 Investigator, why do you have to bring in Tribe and wish sickness on someone that is well. Please be civil and comment on on issues if you have sensible contributions.

  41. Ben Teta was a shrewd typical politician. Good at his game, and for his family, but not for the country. His family and mmd will miss him, but the majority in the nation sighs with relief, though would have rather seen him recover so he pays for his actions. Now he faces the creator to Him he shall answer.

  42. There was a welcome party in hell for teta. Mobutu, gave the opening speech as LPM was honored as master of ceremony. what goes around comes around.

  43. Sometimes people forget that thy are human too. Being minister does not make one more human than others. I think Teta was a good student of Kamalondo. Bye bye!

  44. Its sad for the family that Teta has died. On the other hand, it will be something to be cheerful about given the nature of the man. I have confirmed that the man has passed on. Truly these flags do not mean anything as I was misstaken. Thanks Chabo for the notice of the late Ministers death. It can only be hoped that this will send a messege to all the politicians that to be humble and sobber minded pays.

  45. Teta malilo has kicked e bucket? Good riddence! But the truth is he died on Tuesday night. Time for one hearse to be used…

  46. I find it VERY strange that some people are celebrating the death of a fellow human being. Even if you had differences with him or hated him it is not just right you some of you to be happy that he has died. Depraved minds!!! Shame on you.

  47. shaq says:
September 7, 2009 at 12:57 amshame on u shikapwasha u knew that teta was already dead and u were asking for our prayers. shame on u reverend

  48. 83 there is no celebration, its a reflection of how bad the piece of shiii”’t was. You can not in life all people non to be trully sad over your death there is something seriously wrong. Watch your life too people are the best judge and not yourself. Yo get it

  49. Ci Shikapwasha you are a liar, a day before Teta’s death you were lying to the nation that Teta was recovering well. Iwe ci Reverend camumupamba what do you benefit from your lies, whats so difficult to say is he’s in critical condition. You’ re a shameless old man mascarading as a christian what type of a flock do you preach to iwe ci kaboke?
