Migration and Christian Living III

The Obligation

When Jesus was about to leave the earth, he left a commission with his disciples, to go into all nations to preach the gospel. The gospel is simply good news and good news is supposed to be shared. Many have taken up the challenge to share this good news. What is more important to God is that this good news must be shared. The channel through which this good news is shared is secondary in as far as the importance of getting the gospel out. God has used a donkey before in order to convey His message to Balaam (Numbers 22: 28). Jesus also talked about even the stones crying out, if His disciples kept silent (Luke 19:40).

Paul being inspired of the Holy Spirit in Philippians 1:15-18 said, “Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, not sincerely…, but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretence or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice.” So the Church that one goes to is not as important as getting the truth of the Word. Jesus had the custom of attending the synagogue (congregating) – Luke 4:16 even though some hypocrites where there.

The important thing for the one that hears what has been preached, despite who has preached is that they must go and search the scriptures to find out whether these things are so. Just like the people of Berea in Acts 17:11-12, they did not believe on face value but went and searched the scriptures for themselves. Many Christians trust whatever their Pastor says. If one has a person relationship with Christ, he/she must search for him/herself no matter what their Pastor says.

The practical things that will help you keep your fervency in the Lord are as follows: Purpose in your heart what you are going to do (Daniel 1:8), while living away from home. Schedule a time for personal prayer and study of the Word, Find a small group of people whom you can share fellowship with. Many people join big Churches and get lost in the crowd. Even if you join a big Church, join a small group for the sake of participation and openly talk about your relationship with Christ. If you can find somebody you can be praying with that helps greatly. Of course not someone of the opposite sex, if not related. Better careful than to be sorry.

If keeping your personal relationship with Christ is not working for you, may be you should consider going back home where it was flourishing (Matthew 18:9). It is better to sacrifice the goodies of the developed countries than to lose your soul (Matthew 16:24-27). We know this is a hard saying but how important is your faith? What are you willing to give up for it?

  1. This is silly , so you expect someone to go back to Zambia because under your confused reasoning thats were they have a better relationship. The messiah never asked anyone to report to a geographic location in order to obey or have a relationshp with him. You are misquoting Mathew 18:9 to suite a message thats sayuing something totally different. Theres nobody in the developed word that puts guns to peoples heads and tells them not to obey. Obeying has nothing to do with church or geographical locations it is a personal choice. The problem with churches is characters like you passing off the opinion as scripture and expect people to obey you who is only flesh . People should pray and read the bible instead of entertaining people like you telling them to go back home

  2. Number 1& 2 i dont understand what has made you so worked up. All the man is saying is that if its difficult for you to live a christian life in your new country, go back home if you think its easier for you there. The truth of the matter is that the western world is so much different from Zed and is very challenging in terms of living a christian life and some people may not be strong enough to cope.

  3. I agree with the pastor. i also say church is not a building but those believers who have personnal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ ;;joining a big Church is not necessarilly very good unless in that church Jesus is being preached and the word being taught ,, I would prefer a small congregation where you may be known for fellowship and participate in the work of God and Jesus must be the center for the gathering ,,I also recomend house church

  4. I ask ba Kasoma Bangweulu not to intimidate the pastor because the pastor is helping some one some where a bout these important issues ;as for you Kasoma it wont take long before you realise where you have gone wrong;;

  5. #3 don’t be a sycophan just because chaps give themselves titles like bishops or reverends doesn’t make them beyond critism. The devil lives everywhere in the world so silly suggestions of moving geographically that are NOT EVEN supported by the bible will be questioned. Misquoting bible verses and trying to make them sound like what you are syaing is not tolerated. The man is simply passing an opinion not biblical fact. Frankly If a man with titles like bishops that teaches human traditions that go against scripture like the ones on his website have no carte blanche in truth. If this dude thinks zambia will give a better relationship tell him to start off first instead of telling others. Religion in the west is more diligent and faces the facts unlike zambia where you just accept…

  6. accept questionable and scripturally abominable practices given to you by the white man. In the west they look at what original bibles and biblical artifacts in Zambia . They out religion under scrutiny to weed out false practices in Zambia you are masters at false practices

  7. Viva Ba Katebe. Your message is very encouraging. I am very disappointed to read the 1st and 2nd comments though. Never Mind even Jesus had opposition.
The Bishop has lived and experienced a lot from the people around his immediate diaspora. He is advising seeing and knowing how much some people have sold their souls to the devil to just store their treasures on earth and not heavenly way. I agree with his message a lot and he is not discriminative about his advice. #1 and 2 you are not in the U.S and for you to understand his message well is difficult. Christians do not have a Moslem kind of commitment and its that reason that we will keep on fighting on doctrine and misinterpret the gospel. until we support and realise we have a common goal we will not live in harmony but keep

  8. There was a pastor in Kafue who asked his congregation to burn their GCSEs. Be an i d i o t and agree with him! But then again the internet is a funny thing isn`t it? The pastor turns up with a different name and supports himself. Up Front you are an i d i o t you tool!

  9. fighting. Matthew 18:9 was never misquoted. it is the best supporting bible verse he could ever use for reference. #11 God bless you and I pray that he strikes you pocket. Call me names I do not care for being and ***** is just a level of intelligence. Your writing puts on the immediate level. Argue with content and not emotions.

  10. #12 If only you could say that in english or atleast icibemba! I can not follow a thing! Many will come in my name. Be wary of false prophets! How selfish can one be? Ask yourself why this man won`t go back to Zambia and why his wife is busy studying? Only i d i o t s like you will be f o o l e d by simple grade 12 drop outs like him! Pastors in pink suits! Not me sorry!

  11. I think what is needed is a great move of God, a mighty revival upon the earth. The Holy Spirit has come to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgement. What is needed is for the Holy Spirit to be allowed to move freely in this generation and he will definately do the job God sent him for. The developed countries are the best places for christians to prove their christianity because of the lukewarmness that is there and the many opportunities for compromise. The Lord is the only one who is able to make a christian stand sometimes christians seem to live a holy life out of the fear of fellow christians or the culture and expectations of the community but in their heart they have secret sins only God alones knows what is inside a person’s heart. Christians should be able to stand

  12. for the Lord wherever they may be just like Daniel and the Hebrew children stood in their generation and refused to compromise. It is the Lord that is able to make a christian stand and not the fear of men. For those that are burdened by the lukewarmness in the developed countries the best we can do is to travail before the Lord for a great move of God which the Lord will use to restore what the locusts and cankerworms have eaten.

  13. The trouble is black Africans have been led to believe they have to be holier than even Jesus. Reason pastors call for prayers for sinners when they are in their death beds.

  14. #10 Don’t allude crooks like this erroneaos doctrine bishop to the messiah, they have nothing in common, the only thing you think is common is because unlike his flock we don’t fall for silly teachings. Matthew 18:9 talks about gouging out BODY PARTS that make you sin, your bishop has taken that to mean PLACES THAT MAKE you sin so he advises on going back. NOw what your bishop hasn’t factored in is what happens when you still sin in Zambia will you move the south pole or nigeria? This bishop is not trying to teach against the devil he just want a flock that will enrich him and not question him. If he was so against teaching against the devil explain the false traditions he keeps.

  15. there is nothing wrong in him being where he is and his wife going to school. if it hurts you and your failures plz pardon your thinking. Everyone has a mission and I know the man better than you may want to think of me. Needless to say all that but the fact of the matter is, his article is worthy especially in these nocturnal days. Read between the lines and understand why he wrote such. the message in the article springs from so many things that are happening and his opinion is only best understood by those that know the true picture of the

  16. 13 can you consider 2corinthians3 vse 6 the letter killeth it is the spirit that gives life much reading doesnt bring you nearer to God knowledge puffs up

  17. Imwe ba guy you are so dim. You write the article yet can not remember what you have writen. Look, the reason people drop out is mostly racisim. Does racism know a pastor, reverend or bishop? No! He has put up with it so why would he be saying go back to other people? By the way “he” lived in Scotland.

  18. # 19 Don’t you think it would be more beneficial if the brethren you are referring to are approached individually and the truth is spoken to them in love, otherwise the good intentions may be misunderstood as a lot of people on this forum do not know the background you are referring to . What is needed is a revival in the developed countries, back home and all over the earth and the Lord will do the rest.

  19. Now he is in Dallas TX. I am in Arlington. its good you and I are able to read and judge which material is good for our souls. the article is just challenging us to look into life different and accept some of the charge that we encounter. Remember the Bemba phrase ” Musalu wali pesamba”. sometimes its not how one starts but how you finish. # 21 your have good knowledge but avoid fallacies of arguments. I uphold Slumdog. Listen to him and ask for more material.

  20. #23 What a plum you are! One and the same peron. I am off to sleep. you i d i o t. Chi colour cobe you think you can make a f o o l of me? Waba aka bu colour ubunono!

  21. #22 you are very right but sometimes we people close those simple avenues of communications. I am very sure the man is trying to be general knowing we people have a preconception whenever one is trying to come in your life. the other thing is we the blogger have so much knowledge and are not reading with a simple mind to understand, we are overreacting to the message simply because its touching on our weakness and sometimes comforts.

  22. Let’s try to avoid insults as we post our contributions, we understand the way you feel. It is true as Christians we have brought the name of the Lord to shame and have driven non believers further by the way we have represented christianity and the church, on behalf of christians ,we repent before God and ask for forgiveness from non believers and those that have turned away from the Lord because of what they have seen and experienced amongst christians and in the church. God bless you all

  23. # 26 people are looking for loving relationships that they know are genuine and they can depend on through thick and thin and also relationships where they know they can share their personal lives and trust that they would be kept confidential. Once those conditions are met it becomes easier to speak the truth to them in love.

  24. #12 Jesus did not call us to curse but to bless remember he told James and John that he did not come to destroy mens lives but to save them, through the Love of God kindly withdraw your statement. God loves you and God bless you.

  25. #2 and #6, All the writer is offering is advice and not scripture re going back to Zambia. Christ said if your eye causes you to sin pluck it out. That is what the writer is saying. If you are in an environment where are you bound to fall get out of there. True the devil is everywhere but the exposure to things differs from place to place. The writer has also encouraged us to go and verify scriptures like the Bereans which is a positive thing. It is shocking how us christians go about tearing each other apart but are eager to believe fake scientific findings like the earth goes round the sun when the Bible says it does not for example. Encourage one another please. The best way of challlengng the writer is by scripture and not venting our opinions angrily. Encourage one another please.

  26. #30 I did not curse at all. it was a typo and because of the way it was used they (LT) used asterisk for the word as they try to sensor language. “Call me names I do not care for being and ***** is just a level of intelligence” was supposed to read as “call me names I do not care for being an i d o i t is just a level of intelligence”. I apologise.

  27. #31 The bible also says where sins abounds grace abounds even the more Romans 5:20 and it’s not the things from outside that cause a man to sin but things from within, inside the heart. Mark 7:15-23. What is needed is for the body of Christ to be equipped by the five fold ministry so that believers can do the work of the ministry Eph 4:11 anywhere they are. 1 Timothy 5:24 talks about some whose sin is obvious and goes ahead before judgement for others it follows, the sins which are open are easier to be dealt with but the ones that are hidden are very dangerous as they follow later. What is needed is for believers in the diaspora to be equipped to do the work of the ministry and of course the whole earth just needs a mighty move of God. Jesus prayed that believers should not be taken out

  28. the world but for the Father to protect them from the evil one. John 17:15 Believers need to pray for one another whatever part of the world they are in ,in line with what Jesus prayed. Jesus said go ye into all of the world and preach the Gospel unto all creation Matthew 16:15 this means geographic locations and worlds of medicine, technology, business etc. Believers just need to be equipped in how to stay pure wherever God has sent them to preach his word whether in the world of technology, geographic locations etc. For some time believers have been told they shouldn’t pursue higher education because it is worldly, they shouldn’t work hard and become rich because they will backslide and at the end we have become a laughing stock to non believers because we have ended up becoming…

  29. beggars. I personally admire people in the diaspora because they are able to work hard, take care of their families and support those back home. What is needed is just for believers to be equipped to do the work of the ministry wherever they are and be equipped to remain pure and empowered not to compromise as they believe God to do the impossible’s in their lives because God’s grace abounds where sins abounds. God bless.

  30. #33 If you read on to Rom 6:1 you will observe that we are not encouraged to go on sinning. 1 John 3: 4-6 also talks about sinning in fact the Bible says that if you continue sinning you don’t know Christ. Be careful. Talking about being equiped we are very much equipped. Christ in Matt 28:18 commissioned us to go and spread the word and He promised that He will be with us till the end of the age. In John and other scriptures that talk about the Holy Spirit talk about how God left us with a helper, a counseller, a revealer, intercessor etc in the Holy Spirit and so we are very much equipped. We just don’t use the all powers we have at our disposal for various reasons including sin, laziness and waiting upon others, e.g . apostles, bishops, teachers, evangelists and pastors to work.

  31. #33 You and I need to spread the word wherever we are. Grace abounding where sin abounds is about’s God’s forgiveness. He will only forgive you if you confess and repent of your sins remember. I do not know what you mean by “mighty move of God”. Please explain more. People believing advice that we are not learn more or work hard is as a result of waiting upon fellow man, e.g pastor or apostle to explain or interpret the Word of God for us. Study the Word on your own, prayer without ceasing and live according to the Word and such deception will easilly be repelled.

  32. If you have followed my postings correctly there is nowhere i have advocated for sin or for believers to continue sinning, what i have been advocating for is purity. In terms of Grace abounding where sin abounds the bible speaks of a situation where believers are surrounded with sin, opportunities to compromise but God’s grace abounds for them to overcome. You are entitled to your opinions and i still love you with the Love of the Lord. God bless you.

  33. This article lacks depth. On the whites introducing Christianity to Africa, the AUTHORS have not been specific ie which Africa, is it the whole of Africa? or Sub Sahara Africa. If this couple are real theological scholars would have noted that Jews had introduced Christianity to Africa; to be specific Alexandria Egypt and Ethiopia. The only places where Christianity failed to reach were the inaccessible thick forested parts.
THIS COMMENT IS FOR PT 2

  34. #40 it does not matter whon intrpduced the Bible to who. What matters is your salvation and the Word God being preached so that many souls are saved.

  35. #40 Christianity was introduced by the romans in 326 (check cannon 6 of the council of nicea). The jews practiced Judaism they never ever ever practiced christianity. In ethiopia christianity was introduced by frumentius and alexandria by the melchites do your research. The believers of the bible were never called christians They were called NOTZORI/NATSARIM judaic sect(acts 24:5). . The only reason why you call them Christians (christos) is because of a greek new testament bible called codex sinaiticus. Do your research on the true believers who christians rejected and called JUDAIZERS,

  36. #42 Slum Dog thanx. When I said Jews I did not mean those who practice Judaism, Imeant pepople like Mark, Paul, Peter. These were Jews by birth and promoted Christianity after the death of our Lord Jesus.

  37. Jews is someone that belongs to the tribe of judah israelites. Mark, peter and the messiah were all jews, Paul was a benyamite from another tribe. They all practiced judaism (i.e kept the torah(celebrated passover(luke 22, kept pentecost(shavuot), celebrated sukkot( festival of tabernacles. A lot of people confuse christianity with judaism and think the people in the bible kept christian customs. Even after the ressurection they all practised judaism, Christian customs didn’t come from the bible . Even the name christians wasn’t even used until the time of Constantine. They were called ‘people of thway or NOTZORI SECT(ACTS 24:5).

  38. religion is a lazy mans way of not thinking to solve problems!when you are hungry you pray then starve and die! ” Missionaries came to Africa with a bible, they met Africans and said to them, let’s close our eyes and pray, when they said open your eyes,Africans had the bible, they had the land” (Bishop Desmond Tutu)
