FODEP condemns GBM ‘tribal’ remarks

Share

The Forum for Democratic Process (FODEP) has condemned PF-UPND Kasama Central Parliamentary candidate Geoffrey Mwamba for practicing politics of tribalism in his campaigns towards next month’s Kasama Central by-elections.

Geoffrey Mwamba popularly known as “GBM” recently said Kasama was for Bembas alleging that MMD candidate Burton Mugala was a foreigner from Muyombe area.

FODEP President, Stanley Mhango told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that Mr. Mwamba’s statement was contrary to the democratic standards of the country.

Mr. Mhango further said the statement by Mr. Mwamba was based on tribal politics adding that the statement is a danger to democracy in the country.

The FODEP President said what the PF-UPND candidate needs to understand is that politics of tribalism are long gone.

Mr. Mhango said it was unfortunate that Mr. Mwamba could issue such a statement based on political tribal lines.

He has since called on Mr. Mwamba to consider reversing his statement that Kasama is for Bembas.

The Kasama Central seat fell vacant after the resignation of area Member of Parliament (MP) Dr. Savior Chishimba from the Patriotic Front (PF).

  1. Tribalism is the same as racism in the USA, you can’t run away from it. but we should see how we can manage it and not pretending it doesn’t exist.

  2. The truth of the matter is that, Zambia has deteriotated into a verybad tribal alignment, GBM said what he said and people heard, most politicians in Zambia say this in their hearts. It is the more reason why Zambia has failed to live according to Christian virtue, because the mouth pronounces christianity, the heart acts contrary. Zambia is in big problems.

  3. Ba GBM mwi onaula party yesu. The biggest problem in zambia is that we support people bacuse they have money. I think fielding GBM is misplaced, he is a missed call. We will be lucky if we win but the chap will not add value to the party. He is there for personal goals. ABASHI tribalism. He should be made to apologise or else no votes for him.

  4. GBM ch*****ala, atase….hope you lose….I saw you campaigning in Kabwata in 2006 and I told everyone around ati ” uyu mambala takawiine, nomba isenifye tumunwine indala shakwe pantu takwata amano, how can he be campaigning in bars and giving free booze?!” Today you have just confirmed what I said that day….anyway thanx for that free mosi, I really enjoyed it. Hope to bump into you again (on purpose) in Kasama…

  5. All political parties in Zambia lack common standards for their office bearers. This statement can easily be uttered by any politician of any political party. I wonder when we’ll get quality politicians/leaders.

  6. Prezume GBM said that az a realistic by the way joke and so pliz spare the man. It wouldn’t be tribal to say Mungu iz for Loziz, Monze for Tongaz, Isoka for Winamwanga and so on. It iz the tone, context, interpretation and situation that may spoil whole thing.

  7. number 10 are you insulting those who will vote for GBM, because you may not vote for him but definately others will vote for him, may be others even agree with him are you any wiser? allow people to think the way they choose to think , you cannot force every one to be you and think like you do and any one who doesnt think like you is a dog?

  8. No wonder HH and Sata are bed fellas, they are both tribalistic skunks of the worst order. GBM, Sejani, Sata, HH, Mwananjiti etc stink tribally and to every patriotic Zambian, their foul vocal verbature causes nausea and retching to the body and soul, listening to their likes sometimes feels like tear gas if the liquid gets on the body especially in the eyes and ears. At lower concentrations like was the case in Kasama the other day or Sejani over Sikota for UPND presidence, their verbature has a very foul odor most injurious to the fabric of One Zambia One Nation.

  9. #8, no one will kill you when you say so. Only someone with “Brass Balls” would, you’re right. Some people are exeperts in tribalism and are very quick to see it in others.

  10. I thought the PF Vice-President is a white man ( Guy Scott?)? So according to GBM his Vice-President does not belong anywhere in Zambia?
