Photojournalist Jean Nepomuscene Ndayisenga commonly known as Jean Mandela has written to the Office of the National Prosecutions Authority seeking assistance to reactive the assault case against Congolese Rhumba maestro Koffi Olomide.

This follows the statement by the Zambia Police Service that Koffi is free to perform in Zambia as there was no active case against him.

But Mandela has written to the Authority seeking help in serving summons on Koffi on July 26th, the day he is due to arrive in Zambia for a series of shows.

Mandela said he is surprised that the Zambia Police is now claiming that Koffi is free to perform in Zambia saying the only case he was facing was dropped for want of evidence.
But Mandela insisted that the case against Koffi for assault and occasioning bodily harm is still active and that the only challenge he has had was access to the Rhumba King in order to serve him the summons.

Koffi had allegedly been barred from performing in Zambia following his violent conduct that also includes kicking Mandela in 2012 on his last visit.

But the Zambia police says there is nothing that bars Olomide from performing in Zambia as there is no red alert on him from INTERPOL.

“The Zambia Police  conducted a search on the 24/7 INTERPOL system which has revealed that there is no International Warrant of arrest (red alert notice) in respect of Antoine Christopher Agbepa Mumba Alias Koffi Olomide indicating that he is wanted for any criminal offence in any Country. Further, there is no criminal record on the Zambia Police Criminal Data base in respect of Antoine Christopher Agbepa Mumba,” Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said.

“An assault case that was reported at Lusaka Division by a journalist was closed due to lack of evidence. We therefore, wish to state that as Zambia Police, we have no reason to deny the subject musician from performing in Zambia,” Mrs. Katongo said.

  1. First all Jean Nepomuscene Ndayisenga is from Burundi and this country refused to recognize the COMESA summit which took place in Lusaka bcoz they wanted it in their country.Secondly in the letter addressed to the DPP their is reference or no OB number for the case to substantiate the claims. If it was brought before the courts what was the case number? In their country Burundi people were arrested for having a tackle at their president Pierre Nkurunziza in the football field and he illegally extended his term of office. We have never seen any letter any Ka Burundi yet this fanatic has the guts to right to our authorities. Waloba ilyauma…Nd0mb0l0 is here to stay.

    • Jean Nepomuscene Ndayisenga has been in Zambia for a while …I think he is a resident or a citizen of this country as so he has all the rights like another other Zambian citizen…I wish we had a lot of Zambians who didn’t back away from issues ….as our people are too docile.

    • If the crime was committed on Zambian soil, it does not matter where the plaintiff hails from.

Zambia should protect every resident, regardless of race, background, or country of origin.

However, this Mandela guy should seek compensation, and consider the matter closed.

Journalists are in the habit of provoking people to get a reaction. Well, he got a reaction from Kofi.

I do not condone violence. I am just saying people should take journalist complaints with a pinch of salt.

    • Koffi promotes violence against women. Its very wrong for Zambia to give audience to this Molester. Women must protest his shows. That’s the right way to send the message that GBV is wrong.

  2. DPP can only act if police present the case to his/her office. Obviously this case has been smothered by police… I have been through that.

  3. Where has Koffi Olomide been living? Is it on the moon? If it’s on earth why hasn’t he been arrested? Why did the French ambassador distance his country from the original ban on Messiour Olomide?

  4. So it’s personal? Mandela was clobbered some six years ago by Olomide. This Olomide is a multi talented animal. …singing, dancing, kickboxing and instrumentalist.

  5. Iwe jean whatever your name is, just come and beg Koffi to give you one of his dancing queens for a night and forget about everything. Babuju bakamba kudala there is nothing in the penal code to warrant a conviction. kkkkk.

  6. So this Jean Mandela is not actually his birth/original name? I am still thinking, what prompted him to change his name to Jean Mandela.

    • @Mfecane I am talking about Jean Mandela!! His birthday name seems to be from Burundi/Rwanda somewhere there. Was he part of the Rwandese refugees that were given citizenship?

  7. Congolese men too much bleaching. Face complexion has changed from natural black to orange, only lips have retained their original color.

  8. Lusaka water and sewerage must automate water opening times using technology. Today the guy who opens water, opened at 7hrs. And I was late for work
