19 Grade 9 pupils arrested

Nineteen Grade Nine pupils from Chiwanda basic school in Isoka district of Northern Province have been arrested after being found with leaked final examination papers.

Isoka district police Chief Honorato Kanunshya who could not comment on the matter referred all queries to Regional police commanding officer Charles Lungu who could also not be reached for a comment.

However, police sources said the 19 pupils were arrested on Tuesday.
The police source added that nine of the pupils were caught red handed with written examination papers for Science paper 1 and Geography paper 2 while ten others were picked up to assist the police with investigations.
The ten pupils have since been released while the 9 have been detained and were barred from writing their examinations which ended on Friday.
The nine are expected to appear in court soon.

And police in Isoka have arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl. Isoka police officer-in-charge Honorato Kanunshya confirmed the arrest to ZANIS in Isoka yesterday.

Mr. Kanunshya said Nonde Sikazwe of Katonga village in chief Kafwimbi’s area was arrested on Friday for allegedly defiling a minor of the same area whom he also impregnated.
Sikazwe is currently detained at Isoka remand prison and is expected to appear in court soon.

  1. It is indeed sad that this practice has continued taking place,one wonders where the problem could be like whether it is coz the teachers are underpayed, hence want to cash in a bit of extra cash from pupils or some other unidentified problem

  2. these kids are very much suprising me, even when the scores of qualifying to grade ten have been reduced you still want to use leakages surely. at the time i was writing my grade nine exams there’s was no hope that such a thing of just making a certificate you can go to grade ten. those are the times we needed to use leakages coz we didn’t know how high the cutting point would be but this time all you need is 40% in each subject thats it. please government deal with these kids not forgetting the teachers that gave them. and i wish rb could cancel the thing of certificate.
