Kulima tower bus station to have shelter

Share

The Lusaka City Council (LCC)has allocated K 3 billion towards the construction of a shelter at the Kulima Tower bus station.

LCC Public Relations Officer Henry Kapata confirmed the development in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today that the council had allocated the resources for the project and that it will strictly follow tender procedures in awarding the contract.

Mr. Kapata said everything is on course to start works at the bus station despite several anomalies that had occurred delaying the project.

He said the LCC would soon advertise in the papers on the tender adding that those interested in carrying out the project should be on the lookout.
Mr. Kapata said construction works are expected to start immediately after a successful bidder is chose.

He further said that the council was aware of the difficulties commuters and bus drivers face at the bus station adding that construction works will be completed by the end of the year.

Bus drivers and commuters have over the years lamented over the lack of shelter at Kulima Tower Bus Station.

“…OVER THE YEARS..”This now means the thing is politically influenced because of the loses and the 2011 nearing elections. You see, the thing is all you chaps never use public commutter transport. Because if you did it wouldn’t be “over the years”, before you act. Worse still you don’t have plans for the city(ies). Anyone, (even a fo.ol) who visits Lusaka would know that thing are just being done at random without plans. Its a mumble-jumble of a city. Anyway, come 2011 most of us wish to be involved in re-planning the town of Zambia. I say this cos this gvt can’t just take heed.

  2. This is good news. By the way, love the new look Lusaka Times. Keep it up.

Also I noticed in the Mail and Guardian, they usually place an ad in the middle of a story, you might want to consider that (just a suggestion).

  3. Its a good idea indeed but we have one problem there. Those homeless people we have all over will shift to kulima tower and make the place their home. I just hope the Govt will be strict with who should be there at what time. Not like the main bus terminal where people have made it a home. The other thing is that, this place is small, there is congestion which has never been seen anywhere else in the world. Buses go in and out with no control, the backflow makes the freedom way a very unpleasant route to drive through. RELOCATION , RELOCATION is the only answer

  4. Kulima Tower Bus Stop is in the wrong place. It should be relocated to another suitable place. Making a shelter there will make our city more ugly. That place should be reserved for a super shopping mall and not the garage look like malls along ChaChaCha Road.
