Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Jean Kapata says it is saddening very little has been done since President Edgar Lungu declared Kafue as an iron steel economic zone in 2016.

Mrs Kapata says the pronouncement made by the Head of State should therefore be adhered too and followed to the later.

Mrs Kapata , who wondered why the actualization of Kafue as an iron steel economic zone has dragged since 2016 when the declaration was made, has consequently advised officials from her ministry and the Town Council’s officials to expedite the Republican President’s decree.

The Minister said it’s the duty of officials from the ministry of Lands and Kafue Council to ensure that the pronouncement is implemented as directed by President Lungu.

Mrs Kapata assured the District Commissioner that she will follow up the matter with relevant authorities so that the declaration of Kafue as an iron steel economic zone is fully realised.

The actualization of Kafue district into an iron economic zone will not only help to revive economic activities of the district but also provide gainful employment for the masses mainly the youths.

Mrs Kapata hinted that her office will call for a stakeholders meeting before the end of January to deal with the issue.

Minister was responding to Kafue District Commissioner Joseph Kamana who raised concern at the slow pace the actualization of Kafue as an iron steel economic zone was been implemented.

Mr Kamana earlier on disclosed that very little has been done in the implementation of the presidential directive.

He expressed optimism that the status of Kafue town will change once the declaration of Kafue as an iron steel economic is actualized.

    • Kapata is a retired nurse…she thinks she is in a clinic ward where when the doctors says something everyone jumps, it just goes to show how fooooolish she is with her utterly dull lazy boss Edgar who is simply good at spewing declarations with no policy backing or strategic long-term plan.

  2. It takes serious strategic planning and not just clueless pronouncements to transform towns into major economic hubs. Show investors your feasibility studies before rushing to randomly make such announcements. Hello! Running a country requires deeper mindset shift…it takes action oriented vision backed by proven methodologies and not entropy!

    • These are simple minds from top to bottom…these are people who think an investor pouring $22 million into Shopping Malls with foreign tenants selling foreign goods and fresh produce is good investment to add insult to injury they do not pay tax for 5 years.

  3. “…once the declaration of Kafue as an iron steel economic is actualized…”
