  1. The change that we Zambians are coming to believe in. let others rule other than ‘amafi’ tukwete. The president cant make well informed decisions. so disappointing.

  2. Bantu bamulungu, lets al stand up for our right. 2011 is just around the corner. We shall vote so that maybe we can have someone in the state house. Am tired of having something there. Shame!

  3. Very very shocking indeed beyond my belief!! I didn’t know Mr Sata has deteriorated to such a low level that he can’t even articulate simple things. The presenter was right to even remind him that this was a civil debate. Dear my me, it was as they went and got a chief Kaponya from Kulima tower and you could see the Kanponya trait in his speech. Am embarrassed really for PF. And why did he walk out of the show childishly and only to come back and tell more lies. It is no secret Taiwan bankrolled his election campaign. He met Taiwanese people in Malawi and this is on record and this is the man people want to put in state house. God help us. Please people in PACT or whatever you call it get used to the fact that SATA will never be Zambia president. Wrong material.

  4. Not just basic English, which we need to communicate with the global village, but also some basic, and very basic, African manners. This man is a shame to the entire black race. Good God! And this is the man you folks want as President in THIS century!!!???!!!

  5. It is true that Africa is in a good position to take advantage of China’s wide range of emerging markets – no doubt about that, but as Mr. Sata has clearly explained, we Africans need to be cautious of the exploitation that is going on. We should not only be content with employment opportunities created by the investors but we need to look beyond in terms of training skills, research and development from our own people so that one day, there will be no need for Chinese investment in Africa/Zambia.

  6. Words or articulation aint nothing, but action and my personal experiance of Sata as minister of health i believe he is a man of action. I have had enough of politicians concentrating on polishing their image and english accents but doing nothing……just talk talk pa tv talk talk pa musebo talk talk talk….UKOKWINE ATASE

  7. just watched the inetrview and damn!! Mr Sata cant be president, the only think he has is comfidence in his voice. All his points are on very shaky grounds and the interviewer had to remind the old man that this is a civil debate. its clear from the interview that the man knowsw nothing about economy and governance. On a good note he maintained his comfident tone even when it was clear he is dodging topics. i have seen men win cases in court just for maintaining the right tone.

  8. Chi No. 6 MMD Chief Bootlicker you are an i.d.i.o.t can you compare yo RB to Sata in terms of articulations? even on many issues? F.u.c.k you.

  9. I have been extremely disappointed with our Mr. Sata. Surely you mean this is the kind of man who thinks can be President of our country? I’ve always supported the idea of the pact but we definitely have a wrong man in Mr. Sata for a leader. Sorry.

  10. Mr Sata is not a good talker but that can not stop him from being a president he has the facts but he just dont know how to put them, is on the ground and he is seen what is going on than us who are out of africa. Its not a talk only which made a person a good leader but the did and the connection with the people in main street, he has the connection and he dont talk a talk.

  11. #12 try to listen to Our president RB in such forums. The stage was just too big for your leader and he came short as seen by comments expressed by other blogs. Listen to the interview and be objective. Surely this stage was not a debate in Kasama by election. This was an international forum and your SATAN came short. Not presidential at all. Even UNZASU president would have faired better and done us proud as Zambians. SO stop insulting and just attack my views. This is a CIVIL DEBATE and leave your insults at Kulima Tower

    • the sooner PF and MMD members became objective the better for this nation……..insults will never build this nation…..can both parties be daring enough as to suggest their shadow cabinets????????????tick, tick

  12. sorry bloggers i can not finish listening to this, iam already mourning…why are zambian politicians profound comedians???Does it mean we no longer have anybody sensible left at home?? Can somebody please rise up and save this dear country of mine…politics have gone to the lost sheep
and the HH hsa joined in this ideal dance…God help us

  13. Thank you Mwata for assuring me. I guess I just need to learn how to understand him but similarly Sata needs to also learn to have the correct tone for different events especially if he becomes prez. One can’t just sound annoyed all the time.

  14. MMD boot licker; sorry mate whether u like it or not Sata will rule, stooge or no stooge. Compared to RB who at such forum he is busy thinking how to screw the presenter whether man or woman.

  15. No. 16 ur anlysis is just as ungly as ur face, your shirt and ur president. No wonder u are just a bootlicker. Selfish.

  16. RB has never been able to articulate issues without refering to a piece of paper. Imagine a President who even forgets the names of his own ministers!! Sata handled the interview well, albeit his usual comical attitude. But then, thats Sata for you. You BOOTlickers just need to come to terms with the fact that Sata or not, the hour has surely and definately come for MMD to vacate the political premises!

  17. I wonder why so many people rule out Mr. Sata when he has not even ruled the country before. It would make more sense to judge him after seeing what he is able to deliver as president. Besides, his abilityle to stand up and confidently defend his country from being a concomitant base of exploitation for the developed nations better make us all think deeper.
Before you criticise a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you do criticize him, you’ll be a mile away and have his shoes.

  18. Ladies and Gents don’t base good leadership qualities on spoken English. We have really been brainwashed by our colonialists who wanted to promote their language. the Chinese you are talking about are developed not because of speaking good English but being innovative in Science and Technology. Sata is saying the same, accept investment but let the locals grasp it and eventually become economically independent like China. Sata’s record as a performer is their. No good English speaker has matched him in all the ministries and governorship roles. I challenge all of you bootlickers to point where Sata failed and some one has done better than him! Ichisungu chabene, be proud of yourselves. learn from the west and grasp the concepts and apply it here if we are to develop!

  19. I think Sata handled himself exemplary thru out the interview. He is great and fantastic becos he is natural. Why should he speak like an English or American. He is an African and Zambian for that matter. Listen to Obasanjo Olusegun or other West Africans, their accecent is always original. But alas for Zambians who would like to pretend to talk like basungus. Shame!!! Viva Sata! and viva Pact!!

  20. YES, FTJ used his execellent tongue to steal and f***ck other people’s wives and not for the betterment of mother Zambia. So it is not necessary for someone to be very articulate in gramma in order to become presido, bakoolwe imwee!!

  21. Bootlicker @ #16. Your analogy is obnubilating. And don’t you dare run away from insults because you purposely chose to bring the name of Sata to ridicule. I will spare you for now, but suffice it to say that you have delusions of grandeur.

  22. Well all i can see is that we are looking for leadership in the wrong people…..RB has shown us what he is made of,jus enjoying himself and his family.Sata really is not presidential material in this globalised 21st century,HH is so greedy that he got all for himself from ZCCM sale…upto now he has not apologised. If any of these people rule after 2011,we have zambians to blame. This is because sensible people with traceable undented histories like Magande,Clive Chirwa,Willa Mungomba, Patrick Chisanga,Sebastian Kopulande,Enock Kavindele etc have appealed to the zambians before and its like we are not yet ready for such quality leadership. We brush them aside opting for failures like RB,Sata etc

  23. I have never seen such mediocre discussion on this blog such as this.So immature that it is now causing neausa, we are just showing our myopic mindness. Please stick to the point and listen to the topic your Mr.sata is discussing with this chinese investment in Africa. What happened to intellectual thinking in Zambia and Zambians living in diaspora?Too little education and knowledge on issues is so dangerous that you must start thinking Micheal Sata is a great leader! The guy is so power hungry..you will be the same people crying when the same fool start stealing when in power.

  24. On articulating issues, Mr. Sata is better that Rupiah. The President (HERB) is so dull that as one blogger has already put it, he can’t talk without reference to something written for him by some. Fellow bloggers, recall that years back, Dr. KK was also on this show to discuss Zimbabwe. The old man utterly failed. Did his failure on the show make him less of presidential material? Sata has done well on the show. VIVA Pact

  25. Watch, listen and judge. Zed never will run short of presidential material. See beyond current political players. Let us not close doors for better candidates coming up. Are there some better than SATA or RB? We avoid the kafupi error!

  26. #30 Monalisa, Yangu!! Wakalipa zoona. Ati “your analogy is obunubi..shani?? Efinshi ifyo!!! Bootlicker will just give you a heart attack. Tewakukonkelesha mama. He lives in another world.

  27. Zambians we forget so easily, non of us remember the Avondale, Mezaf housing projects that Sata mishandled. Not too long ago same Sata was found with $10,000 dollars in cash at the airport in South Africa which was confiscated and the man never claimed it back? why was he scared to claim the money if it was legitmately acquired?Zambians let us be careful with these so called leaders. It is unfortunate the late Mwanawasa gave us RB, but Mr.Sata is a very good for nothing leader,he is an 80 year old spent man who qualifies for retirement the man is supposed to be writing his memoires by now.Look at his background carefully. This is 21st century and you Zambians want a former police officer to rule you.I am not demeaning the police force but common now, we deserve better than Mr.Micheal C.Sata

  28. Hehehehehehehehehe bloggers. Keep on blogging but remember that you will get fired if you do not finish your work. Otherwise i am enjoying your fuzzy contributions. Continue

  29. #32 shikawanta where then is your mature, non-mediocre, unmyopic contribution which does not cause nausea? Your last sentence is definately not any better than what others have posted.

  30. sata may have an attitude problem but he had points the long term industrialisation of china in africa will leave us jobless……..and this true, how many clothing companies are in zambia now? how many manufacturing industries will be there in the near future, if china brings finished goods here? why not establish a manufacturing industry in the same country.
leaders should think of investors who would bring something we aint utilizing or an industry which needs rebuilding

  31. I suggest to some of you to go back and listen to that interview, instead of busy supporting Sata when you know you have no idea, of what the program entailed. An honest disciple will tell his master when he is in the wrong. Sata did not definitely handle the matter or content of the interview very well or articulately. (by the way his accent has nothing to do with the content of his speech). Its very sad and disappointing, that what should be “Zambia’s elite” is unable to differentiate a bad seed from a good one. Blind loyalty will get you no where. It is time that as a pact you realise today that Sata is not the change we are looking for. Colonial freedom has already been achieved.Sata should have been more prepared for that interview, It was very embarassing to say the list.

  32. #32 Shikantwa, you are the one who seems to forget easily. RB was so tribal in the UNIP days, you could actually smell him! What has changed about the man? He brings back finished Unipists, and you say hes much better that Sata? Talk of being unmyopic!!!

  33. Thank heavens this parody with his circus is merely for entertainment on the political theater stages whenever people are missing it.Every patriot knows that it would be treasonous to risk with him.

  34. Please Zambians, let us think outside the political parties we support and consider matters objectively. The truth is that this interview is a total disgrace and embarassment. Is this the best we can do after 45 years of independence or are we just fed up with Rupia Banda his MMD? I beg you. Let us save our country from the disgrace and disaster of electing a person such as Sata when we have so many graduates. I appeal to the people in UPND, please make sure that HH is the PACT candidate in 2011. At least HH would not disgrace Zambia the way Mr. Sata has. What does Shaka Ssaali now think of Zambia and the Zambians he knows.

  35. The Zambians leaders have to be careful and have a balance in trade with different countries. Policies must benefit local Zambians and empower them. For example most things in the western world are made in China …could this be another cause of their high unemployment??? It is good to have Chineese goods but there has to be a balance. Long term there will be no purchasing power to buy those products if people are not employed.

  36. Yes windfall tax, we need to have an intelligent way of balancing our trade with countries. However when they come and build and infrastructure or buy our copper. We are certainly gaining something.. What we have to do become more competitive in our industires, but i dont think we can ignore them. They have become so important and cradinal in international business that even America goes to them with a begging bowl. I always say they are a neccsary evil, the question is how do we engange them to maximise the benefits??

  37. #48 I concur you have a valid point. My concern is the money gained from copper with the “new” tax system…Should have been diverted to tourism, agriculture and energy sector to help create jobs. Where can one find the break down of the Zambian govt investments from tax gained from the mining sector??

  38. Natalie what you as a grand child should be telling your grandfather is that we today live in this so called global village, and whether you and your grand father like it or not, its inevitable that with development, and international relations comes with it the darker side of the coin which is that you Natalie has to compete with a china man in your own country. However, this should not blind you to the fact that it is a matter of coming up with appropriate policy protecting our nationals and not a portrayal of such animosity to a nation that is considered to be the next super power at such an international forum.

  39. I suggest you as an educated grand child you should advise your grand father on international diplomacy, unless you want a repeat situation of what your neighbours in Zimbabwe are experiencing. Your grandfather should remember that the world has moved away from colonial freedom fight, we have a new fight now, economic empowerment which fight should not be entangled in bitterness and ill informed speeches which can cost the nation international relations. Natalie whether your grand father is right or wrong, his conduct in that interview was way below par.

  40. this is the leader zambia is waiting 4!!!!viva sata. i have listened 2 da interview very carefully, dats y i ve decided 2 support u.

  41. #48 The Chinese are not buying your copper they are mining it for free since they own the mines themselves, and don’t pay tax. If those mines were Zambian you would say they are buying. The issue is finding a way of making sure the country benefits economically from that copper, because that copper will finish one day. We have to reach a point were if we are not going to benefit in anyway from what foreigners are doing in our country then they shouldn’t do it. Economic gains vs costs. I’m not an economics authority but I just want logic. And for that I do think you need to be speak good English.

  42. Can we show civility in our debate, please? Why do you behave like Sata, the chief UNIP/MMD stonethrower? Zambia needs qualitative leaders and citizens alike, if we’re to resolve the immense problems the likes of RB, Sata, etc have failed to resolve, after creating them. We need new blood.

  43. Mr Sata should learn to be impersonal, although I doubt he can since he so old, when engaging in debate. We definitely don’t have a good leader now but even with criminals there one you can vote for. And so we shall.

  44. “….. If a worker is from outside the European Union or the European Economic Area (EEA), his or her intended employer will have to provide officials with a statement that they have first tried to recruit labour from within these 31 states. The EEA includes the 27 EU states plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. …..”

  45. True to any logical and right thinking member of society. Cycle Matter lost the best chance of his political career. rare an interview as it was the man just exhibited how unfit he is to be in the annals of history as one of the Presidents of this great country. He has no capacity to hold the office and he if at all it happened we will have sham of a president. Kulima Tower and Intercity Bus Terminus is the place for this demagogue who fails to debate simple issues and starts venting his stupid outbursts on innocent Shaka Sari. For sure Cycle Matter is uncivilized and a gutter politician. Even in my dream I cannot give him a vote. No wonder Chiluba only made Miniser Without Portifolio simply because he was full of nothing worth a portifolio and in the history of Zambia’s politics he is…

  46. #48 and #51, those are excellent contributions.
Why should we as Zambians be always be on the crying end of everything. The Chinese are not the problem. The problem that Zambia has is failing to come up with a proper framework through which we can reap the benefits of the China-Zambia relationship. This could also be reflected in our immigration policy!

  47. #55 the statement you have pointed out is important …Minerals are a wasting asset. Whatever plans the govt leaders are making must consider the future generation. Since South Africa and China are the major investors in Zambia… what recent infrastructure have the Chineese and South Africans built for Zambia that will help develop the country? Please note Health and education being subsdised by countries like Norway .Where has the money they purchased for the mines been invested by the Z govt? What tax system is being used for businesses and where is it being diverted to in the last 19yrs of MMD rule ? How much public shares have been given to Zambians for these companies? Sorry to be political has MMD built any Zambian owned manufacturing companies, roads or agriculture projects ?

  48. The lady is full of book talk, and to Mr Sata he said the truth he defended Zambia and their was no point of hunging to the debt coz it was selling Chines economi. Chines gays sweeping the streets in Lusaka is that what you call good chines investment????????????? RB has never ever defended all he has done was donate cows to Tanzania the list is endless

  49. Civil debate my foot!
A raped victim wants to explain how it feels to be raped and what’s going on but instead he/she is told that it’s his/her fault! I know how Sata feels because I feel the same. I feel for Zambia! I love the people of Zambia!

  50. Mr Sata knows what he is talking about. Zambians are being exploited big time. While its a good thing that China is doing business with Africa on thing for sure is China is ripping Africa in exchange for cosmetic materials while China goes away with the real stuff. As Sata has mentioned China is dealing with African leaders who became leaders from the unemployment background. China, first starts by bribing these leaders to qualify for going away with not only copper but even the soil. Sata is talking about real manufacturing investments which benefit both parties. And not shopping malls in exchange for minerals.

  51. #65 spot on, Sata may have no Presidential credentials, but that should not discredit his valid points. Pipo wake up, mines to extract minerals and shopping centers is no development by any measure. Processing of those minerals locally would provide more jobs and spin off other industries.

Just have a look at what you call developments in Zambia, how many of those spend or even bank their profits in Zambia?
The issue is with our governments, past, present and future or indeed our culture of doing business.
The government or whoever they send to negotiate or sign these contracts should put their country first, not just Yes bwana yes bwana because they want to please the investor or are too scared to question the other party and risk not getting any silver lining out of the deal.

  52. I am so disappointed with Sata, that was not necessary. Sata doesn’t know how crucial China is in the world economy right now. Even Obama goes to China to negotiate with the Chinese. I hope HH will be the candidate for the so call pack. Sata is so uncivilized and ignorant. This man should never rule Zambia….for the sake of mother Zambia

  53. The woman on this show comes across as being shallow with a business agenda. It is so obvious that China has no interest in developing Africa but to exploit the continent for its resources. Sata does have valid points. Don’t be fooled by the accents, listen to the content. Sata does see what goes on on the ground, Sharon is relying on one sided reports. She has no first hand experience. She is talking about African leaders not having a problem with the Chinese, of course they are bribed. By the way the moderate is also biased.

  54. #69 Chinondo you’ve hit the nail on the head – it is sad that most bloggers have opted to side with the American lady just because her English (being her mother tongue!) flows as fluent as a river out of her mouth.
Well, if the debate had been in Bemba, Sata’s mother tongue, they would all be amazed to seen how quick the lady runs out of arguments.

  55. #69 and #70, I concur with you. Its unfortunate that we are so blinded that we can’t see how our continent have ripped off. These invaders are not up to anything good. Better deals should be entered, not these fake equal partnership.
Sata does not need to articulate for anyone to see what the man stands for. Though with his questionable character, I see him to be the right person for the liberation from Chinese infestation.

  56. Mr banda is not fit to rule zambia because he neither inspires confidence in the zambian people or his own political party. Having said that sata is also not fit to rule, he is abrassive and rude and doesnt seek the advice of peers. zambia doesnt need an arogant leader, we need a diplomatic enforcer. someone from outside the political arena, someone with a strong background in socio-economic policy. A young and vibrant leader who takes zambia out of the 19th century ditch we stuck in, into the 22nd century. old dogs must let lie

  57. Infact one should not blame the Chineese. They are prudent business people who look after the interests of China. The problem is that some African goverments like Zambia do not use wisdom when making these deals. The inferiority complex that each investor is doing Zambia a favor seems MMD govt 19 yrs guideline. Where does this MMD actually draw a line that a business venture actually empowers Zambia??? Or ask for infrastructure that makes it easier for them to diversify to another industry for income…By God’s grace Z will get wise leaders with a vision. Without a vision people perish…

  58. I have no problem with Sata’s view. Sata has got it right. He has the facts and they are correct for Zambia. This is our situation and we can’t keep on living in denile. I am happy that Sata has got varied points: 1. lack of visionary leadership, 2. corrupt, poor and unemployed leadership before coming into power; 3. the effects of the Chinese economy is not felt by ordinary Zambians! Look at the roads around Copperbelt where the copper is mined. Shame!!! The poverty of the people of Luanshya!!! This is a reality. Take it or leave it. Bye. I will give my vote for Sata.

  59. Having to listened to the dabate, I think Sata has more points pertinent to Zambia. The situation on the ground in Zambia is all what Sata said. Jobs are taken over by Chinese from Zambians. Lower wges to Zambians. A south african caller catigorically supported SATA’s views. Chinese have flooded south africa with their cheap mechandise, taken over all the shops , taken over all the streets and villages as igo igos. Sata has a point and I give him my vote. We need leaders with vission just like the way Chinese are stragising how to off load some of their people on Africa, Even us we need a leader with a good developmental Vision.

  60. I agree with Sata and any ordinary Zambian citizen will agree with his sentiments regarding the Chinese besides his agreession. All of you who think otherwise of Mr Sata are sorry ass Fackers

  61. Plz fellower Zambians! dont be cheated by the MMD AND banda that Sata is a BAD MAN.. He is the only politician, who will ask all these fake investors to prove their worthy! or they will follow banda in 2011…

  62. Sata had some valid point but his lack of etiquette speaks volume of what kind of president he can make. How can he hang up when the whole world including Beijing want to listen to him.Iam also shocked that Sata does not know that sometimes govt are referrsd to by the name of their capital cities. If they say Moscow,we know they are talking about Russian Authorities but alas when Shaka referred to our govt as Lusaka ans that of Chians as Beijing, our PF Iron man got it wrong and even went on rampage saying dont refer to individual towns. This is the aspiring president. The Pact should just be object and get HH.Sata in the eyes of the international community is a flop.

  63. #81(Mr Tembo)
Why is it that whoever is against PF is labelled MMD? Zambia is a Multi-party democracy and NOT bi-party and therefore labelling anyone against PF as MMD is not right.Dont embrace the Bush philosophy of “Its either you are with us(PF) or the terrorists(MMD)”.Iam neither but a swing voter ready for progressives and have interests of Zed.

  64. Sata is right, hes talking about the reality in Africa particularly Zambia, he’s actually speaking for the average man on the streets who catches hell everyday due to such type of investors as Chinese, forget about being not civil in talking because its very enraging to see that lady talking about head ways made in Zambia by Chinese when she doesn’t even physically live in Africa to witness the situation on the ground.

  65. Atase!!! You mean this programme was actually about promoting her book and propagate Chinese investment as being good for us like she has been paid behind the scene. Am also very annoyed though Sata shouldn’t have cut the line. but am annoyed… Its not about Chinese investment in Africa or Zambia and its benefit to the ordinary people but about her, her views and her book using VOA as her selling piece.. SATA figured it out and got annoyed and told her off.. The guy is sharp he quickly realised by what was going on.. I would have been LIVID too..

  66. Also am annoyed.. I thought the the programme was STRAIGHT TALK.. but that lady was busy theorising and was just collecting data to support her book by interviewing GOVT leaders.. what tripe !!! the blind bat didnt go into George compound and Matero and Chawama or Soweto market of Chma village to guage or ask people there what they thought or to see benefits to the people.. Also all you people whipping Sata.. in case u missed it.. The programme was STRAIGHT TALK!!.. be real.. That ka lady has no clue about what is going on in Affrica.. I doubt her field work.. She did say anything of relevance to me no diferent from the Obasanjo one I watched on BBC…

  67. What research has that woman done? So what if, she lived in China for 14 years. I blame the government for all this nonsense, the Chinese are merely capitalizing on the government’s ignorance and incompetence. How can a normal functioning government ever allow the Chinese, or any other country to bring their own laborers to Zambia? This is pathetic and nauseating. We have ourselves to blame for allowing this to happen. It’s about time that we stopped begging for so-called investors. Why not train and invest in Zambians to be entrepreneurs, instead of allowing ourselves to be exploited for our precious resources? Look in the mirror Zambians!!

  68. This Man the Presido(Sata) acted so imature by showing his emotional being on an international media, though he had a valid point. In every society, you have to accept the views of others even if you know that you are right. He went out of topic by displaying his anger on the interviewer and even calling him names. Let us call a spade a spade. Edith Nawakwi once said if we choose Sata, he will embarass us at the united nations because the man has no petience at all and as such he basts too fast. He cannot even sit down for 10 minutes to listen to others. Sakwiba Sikota is even better than sata even if he is a political prostitute. Shame on us Zambians.

  69. Mmmmmmm..!..Polarised opinions about Sata’s performance here…Can’t wait to listen to this phone in programme.
So the man is 80 years old? …Good grief ..!…No wonder he loses his temper.

  70. Ladies and Gentlemen after listening to the interview of Mr.Sata on Voice of America TV which is seen all over the world, What I had known came to light, Mr Sata is not a leader, Zambia is better with Mr.Banda the current President to be re-elected to office in 2011. This man Mr Sata lacks leadership skills he can not debate on real issues which are affecting his people daily.China should be looked upon as a partner because China is bringing in the money for development and Zambia is giving the Chinese the resources which they need to build their country. The biggest exporter to the United States is China, To day the biggest investor helping to fund our American life is China.Chinese are hard working people I encourage you Zambians to work with China.

  71. When i listened carefully to this conversation, i had a clear picture of what Sata was talking about and i concluded that indeed we need to be careful with the china man propaganda tool. Shaka Ssali is enjoying 5 star hotels when he visits and he is taken to the screen saver sites of posh developments and he wrongly concludes that all is going well on the african soil. The gentleman from Ethiopia and South Africa nailed the nail right on the HEAD and i could see that the talkative lady who was also guest was caught offline and she could not defend china. lets be real brothers. how can a man from south africa or ethiopia see the rot by the china man yet we want to condemn sata for the same rot china is bringing? any way those who are used to mediocrity will recieve all the fecal matter from

  72. If only the chinese will come and build genuine structures, leave the master plan and let us enjoy the moral relationship with them, i dont have a problem, but if they come ichigumuna just to fill up kamwala or chabeshi townships in the name of investments, then iam sorry i too can chase them so that they go and settle in china.

  73. It was the late former minister of legal affairs one Dr Remmy Mushota who ones said Zambians run the risk of electing a mad man for president. One does not need some basic lessons in psychiatrics but that Sata is not of sound mind should be very apparent to any person. Listening to his contribution almost made me cry. Is this surely all we have to offer? If this country failed to fall apart under Chiluba, it will under Sata. We all know China is the global economic future but out of personal gains, he wants to relocate our diplomatic alignment from Beijing to the Chinese renegade province of Taiwan, just what logic is this?

  74. Zambia will never learn from China for these simple reasons: In China a person like Chiluba or Dora Siliya could have faced a FIRING SQUAD not acquittal or redeployment. We cannot do this because we Humanist/ Christian. 2) In China even human excreta is a resource which generates wealth. Here a mafi or even a toilet cannot be discussed atall. People who work in this field are looked down on as bana Mazi. There are many examples why we cannot be like or learn from the Chinese. Even in Chambishi, these people were willing to stay/sleep in plant contrary to ER part V regulations.

  75. personally I feel there is no problem having the Chinese in the Country. The only problem is the laws. Our laws in Zambia are too much porous and because of this Corruption comes in. The lesson we all know is that there is no profit making entity that will give relief aid to a society. If our laws are concrete, I do not think the Chinese would mistreat the people who work for them. there is too much nichekeleko in Zambia and because of this we will always surfer.
Zambia can do it if our laws aim to protect the weak regardless where a person comes from.white, blue, brown, black etc

  76. We Zambians should learn to work hard starting form the leaders. we really have a problem and the answer is us we are too lazy. we have a lot of resources but we never utilize these things. Mr Sata is somebody who if not steady might even put our country in a problem. The problem is us. this Doctor lady is right somehow. how can he be disgusted over something true. The answer is through hard work….the money that is given to us where does it go. Our laws don’t protect us and the these Chinese take advantage of us because we are weak and for them they want to make money. It has to be us otherwise Mr Sata will make another Zimbabwe in Zambia.

  77. From the look of things pa Zed.Always one who becomes presido people do not even expect such to became there Leader.Wait till 2011 comes mukapapa sana, wina azalila.not those whom you are counting today will rule this country.E.g who knew that FTJ,LPM m.s.r.i.p & RB could lead Zambia?
    Muzadabwa maningi,wait and see.

  78. Having listened to Shaka Ssali’s Straight Talk Africa on VOA, i challenge anyone to dispute that Mr.Sata is not retarded. Its either this was a conspiracy to finish him or intentional choice to embarrass the country that we have condoned nuisance in national politics at the expense of serious leadership. His thuggery behavior and lack of knowledge was demeaning to the country. Its time PF started potching for a leader otherwise posterity awaits to judge cadres harshly.

  79. Only an under five can take this man serious. Is he sure of his ignorance when mines are employing thousands of citizens? He says :

Mr Sata said China had brought “so-called” cosmetic investment to Zambia to suit itself because the common man was not able to see any tangible development.
“All we are seeing is one small room occupied by eight Chinese,” said Mr Sata on the programme, which was discussing China’s emerging economic influence in Africa.

  80. Right on, President Sata. 🙂

I hate the neo-yuppie positivism of the American woman freetrader.

She washes away all blame from her own country, and puts it on the shoulders of ‘African leadership’, as if they exist in some kind of vacuum, without the context of overbearing western corporations and their armies. Look at the Windfall Tax – is it really just the leadership that wants to get rid of it, or are it the American, Australian, British, Canadian mining companies that are setting the agenda?

The difference with Saudi Arabia and China is that they never opened their economies up to the same free trade that she wants to see in Africa. Which is why they still own their economies, and why they benefit when their GDP goes up.

  81. You know these neoliberals destroyed the world economy with their theories, and yet they will not learn. Michael Sata recognizes a sellout when he sees one. And then she claims it is because… Africans don’t work hard like the Chinese.

No m’dear, it is because of who owns the economy. Whoever owns the economy benefits from economic growth.

  82. I really liked the way Sata spoke about the horse and the rider. Sata does not hate these bastards, its just that they are tricksters.

  83. Now I know why our annual GDP is only 16billion USD. The problem with us. Our mind sets.. The majority of bloggers.. I cannot believe that most of have missed it and the 2 callers (Ethiopia and SA) actually got it when you have the benefits of replay.. That programe was a scam and of no credibility.. it was not about debating the issue but WELL.. They billed it STRAIGHT TALK and picked on SATA because he is known to have been cautious of Chinese deals, and therefore were looking for two people of different sides of the discussion.. Now Sata knew the game and cannot change his position for the sake of the “discussion” of Dr whateva book.. Also billed as straight talk.. That lady was empty in everything she said of no meaning to me.. What did she say of relevance regading the topic???

  84. You all whatched BBC’s HARD TALK with Stephen Sukar.. it’s very confrontational and guys interviewed particularly African leaders get very very annoyed and react in the same way if they feel their pribciples or coutries are being mcked.. Did any of you watch.. OBASANJO’s interview.. Did any watch The SUDANESE PResident wanted for war crimes interview.. it was steaming hot and the interviewer attacked viciously to defend his assertions.. THATS WHAT A STRAIGHT TALK, LARRY KING LIVE, HARD TALK PROGRAMME IS ABOUT..and if you accept to being a guest go there expecting to be hammered! That cheap Dr DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT Chinese invt impact on DEV. She could quantify anything.. SATA said 85% unemployment is our major headeche. She couldn eevn tie her thesis to it in any country!…

  85. THE WHOLE SHOW WAS ABOUT SELLING HER BOOK AFTER HER EMPTY IDEAS AND RHETORIC: SATA REALISED TAHT AFTER HEARING HER REALISINGH THE SCAM OF A PROGRAMME GOT ANNOYED LIKE SOME OF US AND MANY AFRICAN LEADERS DO (EG OBASANJO)

  86. #107 Digga I have watched it several times. In fact I dont want to miss it each time its on. O yes there times when Obasnjo is made to look like a kid caught stealing relish from the kitchen.

  87. That whole programme was a publicity stunt. You can’t fool OUR MASTER! all you MMD and UNIPS ON hERE F…. YOU ALL!!!
    Viva UPND & THE FRONT.

  88. #101, 102 Vetera. I conclude that your brain has ceased to function the normal way. So i challenge you too, comment on the two other callers view; one ethiopian and one south african. if you are man enough and have power in your loins tell me who is more sane, you or sata.

  89. Coem on guys .. Let’s use the knowledge we’ve gained from the books we read. How can you hammer Sata and support her?? SHE DID NOT EVEN DO THE BASICS IN ECONOMICS. You cannot discuss or reasonably draw conclusion on INVESTMENT BENEFIT if non of your DATA or analysis is tied to KEY Economic performance indicators.. (1) JOBS unemployment level (2) FX reserves ease of trade (3) GDP by sector (4) Social / human development indices – literacy levels/HIV etc… How can she write some thign of no meaning to anyone… Sata understood it this way and I’d have to think really hard to find positives from Chinese involvement in realtion to the points 1-4 above which was the TOPIC OF DISCUSSION. Instead has -VE impact on point 1 as JOBS going to China. SATA was right though crudely expressed himself

  90. DIGGA…. you are very right. Zambia will not develop if our leaders continue to be puppets to china or the western world. This is what latin americans have said no to. They want fair play and today bolivia , venezwela , cuba etc are doing much better than when they were under the yoke of USA or europe. There is no way chinese should bring their own workers to do the jobs which Zambians can do. The DR was talking about infrastructure built by the chinese. What are those infrasture in Zambia? Were they built for free? Have the Zabians seen any benefits from the chinese investment? Look at the Copperbelt, now there are no roads in the townships. Is this investment a person with 5 senses can praise that Zambia is benefiting? Sata was beeing pushed to the conner and he realised it.

  91. mwatalikana sana bonse now listen “lets all relocate to Darfur” there is too much peace in Zambia..Most of you supporting bwezani whatever and MMD you all sound politically connected and beneficiaries , and please stop educating the educated “you think we are happy to be economic refugees…..ponono pono ponono nfyo nfyo nfyo atase…..Sata mwaume much better than the crap we have been exposed to…CHINA IS TAKING OVER AFRICA,THIS IS A TIME BOMB……IF ALL AFRICAN LEADERS WHERE LIKE MUGABE & SATA PUT TOGETHER ALA KUTI CHAWAMA….

  92. Sata mwaume all of you have a complex that only a whiteman can do magic, how retarded!!Sata has exposed these few things for us to chew on!

  93. SATA,18th century presidential material.on fit to rule strange countries like zambia.after the programme i got a call from a coleague in dar re salaam who wanted to know if the person was the best political option our country has.i just covered my face and wept.

  94. #68. Who doesn’t know how crucial China is to the development of even already developed countries? Don’t be mistaken, man. SATA knows. What he doesn’t tolerate (and I agree with him), is the imbalance and exploitation of Zambians by the investors, and the behaviour of gvts towards these investors. These investors have been given too much. Shot of even giving them our mothers. Put it this way. How do you send someone to go and negotiate an investment issue whose job came by way of cadraism, who hasn’t even have an idea about investment deals?…

  95. …The other thing common Zambians or other Africans must know is that the researcher had clearly stated that she mostly interviewed leaders (presidents, and ministers) of those African countries. So, in a massively BIG way, her research is biased, towards promoting China. The country where she lives. She knew what she wanted or how she wanted the results to be- pro China. Mind you, she lives in China and probably has business in China. There is no way she can talk against China when she is living in China. I don’t need to tell you the answer. But, whole I can tell you is that if she escapes from China- not in a casket, she would be the luckiest person on earth.

  96. …African leaders themselves gain massively out of those deals. How do they become rich overnight? The other thing is those deal are very poor. They favour China. Minerals and other raw materials (which China takes) are deminishing resources. If thats the case African gvts are supposed to sign for investment deals which tell China to set up manufacturing industries which process these raw materials to finished goods-value adding. Then China must be allowed to take those manufactured products away and do whatever with them in China…

  97. …The advantages of that are numerous, but I will discuss only a few. First, when for instance copper is proccessed into finished goods, not everything is taken away. Plenty of copper in form of manufactured items remain in Zambia. When copper is depleted, that gives us a change to re-cycle those damaged goods and have copper again. However, if the opposite happens (which is happening, anyway), when copper is finishe because China has taken everything, China re-cycles the same copper damaged products and have copper forever. And in turn the sell you…

  98. …And in turn they sell you the same copper (your copper) in form re-cycled but re-manufactured into different articles at a price you can never afford. The other advantage is that real manufacturing industries apart from creating direct employment, they trigger the mushrooming SMS industries, which in effect are the real employers of human resources in a country and real contributors to the wealth of the country. Real revenue comes from these SMS businesses. Which is why China would not want to set up manufacturing industries in Zambia or any other African country. Because, you are s.t.u.p.i.d and any that glitters outside but with no real value amazes you they would offer to build you shopping malls…

  99. …plastic cities, roads, one or two stadia, one or two universities or even hospitals. Because they know these things will excite you. Because those are the things you lack but wish for in your countries- and thats what Africans call development. But, let me tell you one thing for sure, these guyz plan. Even the externally-glittering stuff they are seemingly giving you is out of real planning. They know you are going to fill those shopping malls with their plastic goods, firework and so on and so forth. They also know that because they take all the copper which deprives of the SMS business opportunities, you wont have money to maintain those roads, hospitals, schools, universities and colleges-you will still go back to them to beg. And unfortunately, they will give you that help and be…

  100. …seen as a people who care and help other needy African states. The other disadvantages are that where you are taking away those minerals and cutting away trees (timber) for sale, there are ecological implications to seriously consider. Why should China not cut down their trees in China and only want to cut down trees in f.oo.lish Zambia? Because, just one tree which causing a lot ecological damage to environment makes a lot of articles which China sells to countries that can afford, (not you) and make a killing. Here in the UK, a door made out of (finished product) pure mukwa can fetch anything up to £5000. Convert that to your kwacha. So, is it any surprise that China is the world’s fast-developing country? They they even care about the ecological impact of felling trees or and…

  101. …dumping toxic substances in your fresh, clean and water-life-supporting lakes and rivers? You must be mad if you think China cares the damage caused to your environment by dumping toxics in lakes and rivers, felling trees, or/ and leaving a lot of land fills in your country. Last, but not least-Do you really think anyone would be interested in developping your country, rather than his? If your answer is a BIG no. Then rest assure yourself that where someone is donnating a shopping mall, he has huge benefits out ot your a.s.s. So, Zambians, I challenge to think broadly…

  102. …and deeply. Don’t let shopping malls which are coming to you in a form of “multi-facility economic zones” excite you. They know that those are just retail outlets for their finished products (plastic toys, fireworks, etc) for which the raw material came from Angola (crude oil for plastic toys), and Zambia (copper and other minerals for fireworks). And mockingly, enough, fireworks are for celebration. For God’s sake what does a Zambian celebrate for? OK, if we started celebrating poverty. So, you see how our friends plan-long term planning. In the near future, they will be constructing sewerage (sceptic) systems and pipelines from their countries just to off-load (or empty) their human excreter into Zambia in the name of…

  103. #69. yOU ARE SPOT-ON. Zambians don’t cease to surprise me. THEY ARE JUST AMAZED AND BLINDED WITH/BY AN ACCENT. How can 1 fail to see that Sharon’s research was 1sided 4 god’s sake. HOW CAN SATA whos not ‘educated’ see that- yet you chaps so called (bootlicking) Drs or worse still professors fail? I thought that was easy to spot. I at 1 time worked with SATA in the city council. MICHAEL CHILUFYA SATA, IS JUST NOT A TIME WASTER. AND HE’S VERY SHARP TO NOTICE ALMOST ANYTHING. WHERE DO YOU THINK, ‘KING COBRA’, came from?

  104. #80, WHATS YOUR PROBLEM? YOU ARE wasting your time if you think ‘KING COBRA’ will be appologetic to parasites. That woman is being paid by China to justify Chinese ripping interest in Africa. Thats a communist approach to morden slavery. Surprisingly, and cleverly, enough China is using a liberated slave to propel their (China’s) interest because they know Africans will easily buy that. WAKE UP FROM YOUR STU.PID SLUMBER, MAN!

  105. bY THE WAY #80, ITS ZAMBIANS INTEREST SATA IS SERVING NOT BEIJING. So, its Zambians who are more interested in hearing if SATA will also start selling the country with mere plastic items. MAN YOU MUST BE VEEERY SICK IN YOUR ASSS.

  106. #83, I CONQUOR WITH YOU. ITS VERY UPSETTING TO HAVE 1 AS.S OF A NI.GA RIGHTING ABOUT SOMETHING SHE DOES NOT KNOW ALL FOR THE SAKE OF WANTING TO RESIDE IN CHINA WHERE SHE’S BEING ASSS-USED. TELL THAT ASSS-O TO GO TO HELL, MAN. ONLY RUPIA BANDA CAN BUY HER BOOK BEING A DIRECT BENEFICIARY OF COMMUNISM. YOU MEAN YOU AFRICANS ARE NOT SEING ANOTHER FORM OF SLAVERY FROM A COMMUNIST? TELL THAT WOMAN TO WRITE ABOUT SLAVERY IN AMERICA.

  107. YOU THINK YOU CAN USE SATA TO PROPEL YOUR PERSONAL INTERESTS. AM AFRAID NOT SATA. SATA IS TOO SHARP. AND THOSE ARE THE LEADERS AFRICA NEEDS. THOSE WHO KNOW THE PROBLEMS ON GROUND AND USE THAT FACT TO SERVE COMMON PEOPLES’ INTERESTS. AMERICA HAS HUGELY INVESTED IN CHINA DUE TO CHEAP LABOUR. SO, THEY WANT YOU TO BUY THEIR PRODUCTS AND THEY ARE USING (probably) A BLACK WOMAN AS A TOOL TO PROMOTE THEIR PRODUCTS. WAKE UP SLEEPING AFRICAN *****S.

  108. Zambians have struggled to understand that its only leaders like Sata who will make the world respect Africans. Neither the Chinese nor the west will bring prosperity to Africa, but leaders like Sata with the African interest at heart. Look at his track record, it speaks volumes. But if Zambians you are looking for someone who speaks english like an Englishman and looks great in desighner suits, then you may have to consider calling Chiluba back again.

  109. We are in big trouble if Sata becomes president of Zambia. He is on the same level with RB. Listening to this has ruined my christmas.

  110. What will make hime a good leader now when he was the worste in Chiluba Era. He supported the third term for Chiluba. Zambians will really regret to have this man as their leader. Atleast Nawakwi has intergrity because when Chiluba wanted to break the constitution by going for the third term, she resigned but Sata supported FTJ to the end untill they failed. I was listening to VOA with my friends and feet so embarrased that I just ended up switching off, I even closed my eyes and wept for my mother land, what a lunatic as a presidential candidate.

  111. Ba pure ubufi, i equally listened by clicking on the other options for a full picture. what is your comment on the Ethiopian and South African who were almost in support of Sata? can you say these chaps are equally biased? listen to the whole talk and you will find out that after the Ethiopian and South African callers’ comment, the lady suddenly became jelly and could not even raise her voice unlike the time Sata burst in her face. Shaka Ssali too was no match as he kept on cutting other callers who were not in support of the ladies book.

  112. SATA IS A DANGEROUS TO SOCIETY IF GIVEN THE STATOR Y INSTRUMENTS.WATCH OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  113. Hello, Neat post. There’s an issue with your website in web explorer, might test this? IE still is the market chief and a large part of other people will leave out your excellent writing because of this problem.
