DEPUTY Minister in the office of the Vice-President Gastone Sichilima has called for the immediate resignation of Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) president Stephen Lungu.

Mr Sichilima said yesterday at a Press briefing that Mr Lungu should immediately resign because he was allegedly running the association like a political party.

He said Mr Lungu had allegedly failed to run the affairs of LAZ and was playing to the gallery of some media houses and had turned the association into a political party.

Mr Sichilima said LAZ was supposed to be a professional body that provided means for lawyers to effectively participate in legal matters.

He said as a professional body, the public and the Government relied on LAZ for legal advice. He urged other lawyers to come out in the open and condemn Mr Lungu for his careless statements.

He said by demanding the resignation of Director of Public Prosecution Chalwe Mchenga, LAZ was not protecting one of its members even when it was consulted when the DPP was appointed.

“He should immediately resign as LAZ president because he has no agenda to run the association,” he said.
Mr Lungu said he could not comment because he did not know in what context Mr Sichilima was calling for his resignation.

“I will not comment because I do not know in what context he is saying that and if he is a LAZ member,” he said.

  1. Is this the same Sichilima who fought with a UNIP cadre! He was supposed to be fired! Is this the way of saving yor job?

  2. Mr Lungu said he could not comment because he did not know in what context Mr Sichilima was calling for his resignation.“I will not comment because I do not know in what context he is saying that and if he is a LAZ member,” he said.

Lungu is SMART,his response says tell a lot….sichilima is not a member of LAZ,what makes him the best person to tell us that Lungu has failed to run the affairs of LAZ

  3. ” DEPUTY Minister in the office of the Vice-President Gastone Sichilima ” Deputy minister to the VP? And he has the gall to call for the resignation of the head of the LAZ? On what grounds? ‘Runnig the LAZ like a political party’ – what kind of charge is that? Could this be because he has commented on the case of Rodger Chongwe? I would say that would be more of a case of VP DM Sichilema to resign, for interfering with civil society organisations for political ends and intimidation.

  4. Sichilima was given a tough blow on the head, did you see the way he staggard? It was a good experience, UNIP should make that Chitambo man a member of central committe!

  5. There goeas another medriocrity. The Govt knows very well that they phunked up on Kafupi’s acquital now they want to smear everybody with filth.

  6. Sorry its you Mr. Sichilima who should resign, you do not inspire anyone in this country. If there was a civilized government you could have been shown the way immediately after that street fight. Where are your morals to call for Mr. Lungu’s blood? shame on you

  7. this is B.U.L.L…S.H.I.T…there goes RB’s cabnet, sichilima the boxer is an example of an infant mulongoti thinking!

  8. Sichilima is not competent enough to call for the resgnation of stevie. Actually the UNIP cadre who F***kd him up is more competent to do so.

  9. @1
Zanzibar says: HE IS THE SAME ONE. HOW CAN A MAN WITHOUT MORALS ASK A MAN WHO IS TALKING ON BEHALF OF 12M ZAMBIANS TO RESIGN. THERE IS COMPLETE CHAOS IN A ZOO CALLED ZAMBIA

  10. Steven Lungu should not resign. Infact we need more of his callibre. Period. I would ask Steven to remain resolved and keep providing wise guidance. Sichilima should cross check his comments with what is obtaining on the ground. If I were Sichilima, I would do well not to pass any comment if there is nothing to dwell on.

  11. Lungu is a compromised LAZ president. His utterances have not been inspiring to the legal fraternity because he is always on the opposite side of things as he seems to have an agenda to fulfil. Yes, let him resign and allow neutral people to run the affairs of the association.

  12. Sichilima ci color, whats wrong with chaps like you in govt? All of you are so full of crap, you make me wanna puke! LAZ is right and you are so damn wrong. Dont comment on what you dont know. LAZ is only taking a principledstance, and unfortunatly its not in books with your boss. You only had it coming, just swallow your vomit and see where it get you. LaZO cannot be defended, hes guilty as charged. Hes a thief and everyone the dares defend him will fall with his filth.

  13. Ha ha ha! Is this the same Gastone Sichilima MMD cadre who fought a pitched battle with a UNIP cadre until he was knocked down flat on the canvass? He should have been fired and not retained to see another day in government. For one, I will advise him to stop talking about legal matters in which he has no knowledge at all. This is not boxing (which he doen’t seem to play well either), he should leave it to others. Further, the continued outbursts by these political hyenas and silence of the DPP and AG’s offices is giving further credence to the now fact that their offices have been hijacked by Kansundila. I mean, why would Mchenga and Malila want a lumpen like Gaston to be their mouth piece if Kansundila and the red-lipped snake handn’t clipped their wings and mussled their mouths?

  14. Imwe sure!!!!!!!! Sichilima, so on what matters should His Excellence the President of LAZ comment? because His Excellence Lungu on behalf of LAZ offered LEGAL guidance on the Legal case of Chongwe. You big Fool Sichilima, you want His Excellence Lungu to offer guidance on street fighting for fake politicians like you??? Sorry that is not his area of specialization. Am tired of these fools mwee! Ishi nkonko shabula nondo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. WHo can Sichilima direct, not even his children can believe all he says to be right. Incase some people have forgotten what happened in Chitambo bye election here is a verbalism;

“Kabiyefye Gaston! Gaston ulekwata umuchinshi! Iwe Gaston ulekwata umuchinshi! Kabiyefye Gaston! Ndekuma Gaston!” shouted the UNIP cadre, only identified as Kaziko as he was retreating but Sichilima determinedly followed him.
AVAP monitors and on lookers followed Sichilima trying to persuade him not to fight but the deputy minister continued following Kaziko. The UNIP cadre retreated for about 30 metres.

  16. Fellow bloggers, forgive Sichilima, he has just come out of ‘after-punches’ effect. He is still hallucinating. This deputy of a deputy should watch what he says, really.
Ironically, the govt wants to regulate media houses and yet they are failing to speak through one govt spokes person. Even ignorant runts like Sichilima have ‘airtime’ in Zambia, shame.
For once, I wish that cadre had pulverised the remaining medula oblangata out of his skull!!!

  17. I hope Hon Sichilima was misquoted. Is the Hon directing Lungu to resign? What powers does he have? The right Minister to issue such directives is for Home Affairs under which the registrar of societies falls. If it can be proved that LAZ has misconducted itself then let the right person deal with this. The Hon should liase with his colleagues than getting himself entangled in this. Am equally buffled as in what context he issued those remarks. Please LK interview Hon Sichilima so we can have clarity.

  18. After AVAP monitors convinced Sichilima and held him by the arm taking him back, Kaziko gained momentum and starting coming forward charging at Sichilima in readiness for a fight.
But Sichilima quickly saw Kaziko coming back and he turned and they started exchanging punches.
This reporter, who stood just about one meter from the scene, saw Sichilima punching the UNIP cadre while the cadre also punched back and it became repeated exchange of fierce fists between them as AVAP monitors struggled to restrain them.
After the UNIP cadre punched him on the face, Sichilima fell to the ground and his still camera and spectacles fell off him. When Sichilima – who is taller than the UNIP cadre – stood up, he punched the cadre again while the latter retaliated.

  19. Much as I appreciate each ones freedoms and rights, I categorically and candidly rule # 14 Chinese Eye out of context and clearly off side. Do you really have standards???????????? Between Steven Lungu and the executive, who sounds reasonable and sensible? Unless!!!!!!!!!! if you are Kandile, then you will choose the later. C’mon let’s be patriotic and not being short sighted.

  20. Sichilima has a weak boss because after fighting with a UNIP cadre (and beaten), he should have been fired. Who does the i***** think he is? He thinks Zambians have no brains? We shall see because now even the lawyers have started to see and fully realised how rotten the judiciary in Zambia has become. Days are numbered!

  21. Deputy Minister in the VP office, for what? I wonder what does in that office. This guy is a proffessional boxer under Mr. Cotton.

  22. #25
    TKZee says

Obviously because Kunda is so afraid of losing his job, he can even jump in a pit latrine if RB told him to do so.
    ;

  23. Actually Kunda has issued a statement saying that he does not need to resign. He has however accused him of LAZ of behaving like a member of the PACT

  24. *14 Chinese Eyes, Let us offer progressive solutions to nuts like Sichilima, dont’ fall into his lack of reasoning for you to support him. Any sane person can see that Lungu is right, the duty of LAZ is to provide checks and balances on how the law is applied in this country. If t the DPP is compromised as is the case now LAZ is not supposed to be quite, but it should defend the Law. If you follow the background of this issue, it started by DPP protecting chiluba’s aquital by telling lies which have since been exposed. We Zambians are not dull to follow any cader like Sichilima. Good work LAZ!!!

  25. Iwe Chi Gastone Sichilima you street fighter if you have forgotten that you were fighting a UNIP carder at Selenje what morals do you have to tell Lungu to go? Who are you W.E.M.B.W.A.W.E.? Whoever chose you to be a vice Minister must have no moral fiber to choose a thug like. You are useless and Zambian cannot develop with people of you caliber. We mwana mala yambwa uluchipuba sana. Ngatawafyelwe kanshi. K.o.l.w.e.w.e tawakwata na mano. Ulichipuba sana ayi? Mwna Satana iwe.

  26. Guston Sichilima is right. Lungu should resign as President of LAZ. Lungu is not principled. When RB influenced the throwing out of FTJ’s court case, Lungu quite like behaved like an MMD cadre until people started showing concern about LAZ’s silence. RB’s move was very clear especially to a lawyer but he was silent saying he was still studying the case. LAZ is not making enough noise over the constitution process. LAZ is not making enough noise on media regulation act. LAZ has not explained to us clearly Roger Chongwe’s compensation. We have to rely on lone lawyers like Winter Kabimba and politicians. But in any case well done for calling of the DPP’s resignation. Is it possible to discipline him (DPP) or expel him from membership of LAZ.

  27. Gaston Sichilima is a “makanika” with a qualification from Kasama Trades Training Institute. He should not be taken very seriously.

  28. Lungu’s problem is his apparent ignorance on matters of the law. How can he think a judgement from a UN tribunal requires registration as though it is from a foreign country? As though that is not enough, he imagines that RB can just wake up and fire Mchenga from a consttutional office without a tribunal. And he is the President of LAZ? My take is that he tries to please some chaps from the media without thinking through things, what a jack ass.

  29. If Zambians would work and put their vote with the great feriocity in which we blog against the ills of our goverment and uninformed populace; our nation would be a Botswana rising. Lungu spoke on the knowledge of Law, in Zambia defending the 11800000 down trodden souls is an act of treason. My our Lord Jesus is our saviour thus we need to work for Zambia.

  30. LAZ has a President worth his salt, simply says no comment, dont know the capacity in which the chap is speaking, maybe he has mistaken me for a fellow cadre, sorry I am a learned person and I know what I am doing. Shame, I agree, some of our leaders in Govt are chickens without gizzards, picture that…
