Zambia are heading to Angola and straight into two storms brewing on separate fronts but slowly converging.
The disturbing speculation that Herve Renard’s job including that of his assistants and support staff could be on the line and that the Frenchman might be sent on forced leave for the in entire duration of the Africa Cup is frightening.
Four coaches have been said to have been identified to take up the task.
If that is true, then one will only have to question the logic of such planned action allegedly hatched by the Faz technical committee.
I can only see Babel ensuring from that quartet working together at such short notice and is a recipe that will only brew unnecessary tension.
Furthermore, putting four egos together for such a high pressure assignment can only breed more rifts.
So should the four fail at the Africa Cup will they blame Renard’s legacy for their failure?
Any changes should be made after returning from Angola to limit the potential of a potentially messy its-not-me-but-him blame factor.
Meanwhile, there has been silence over the recent report of alleged match fixing regarding Zambia’s 1-0 home loss to Egypt on October 10 in Chililabombwe.
The eerie swirl of silence after the story broke allegedly given to an Algeria publication by captain Christopher Katongo ( that the player denied ever giving) only serves to put the team under more scrutiny.
If no one in higher authority refuses to call for an inquiry into the allegation then where are we going with our football?
Indeed the timing of this decision can never be more out of line. Renard’s record isnt the most impressive but you dont want to change coaches days before a major tournament. Let him take the team there and when they fail to go past the first round (which i know they wont) they can sack him. Then afterwards, we the tax payers will rise and demand the removal of the FAZ executive so we can replace them with people with fresh ideas!! Either way, i can tell you, this time next year Renard and Kalu wont be in their current jobs!
I would rather the team go to Angola without the P.E trainer and his assistants. We can have even 10 coaches to take-over after -all the lazy boys will still be booted out in the first round!
FAZ is rotten startin from è head
Reacting to bad FAZ administration is untimely, so say the least. No one can put up a team that can win at this short notice. Let le i.diot go to Angola en embaras’s us all.
We all know by now that there is no football in Zambia at the moment and goin g to Africa CUP with such qualities of football display and players its obviously wastage of resources. Anyway the coach also has no confidence in his boys, after qualifying to this tournament he openly mentioned that his many objective is to see zambia reach quarter finals instead of wining the cup,Now considering the time left before the kick off Africa cup of nations i think its not the right time to change the coach, lets give him chance to talk these guys to Africa cup and sack him after the tournament, Moreover its a well known fact that Zambia won’t do anything at this tournament.
#5 correction, the P E teacher actually said second round was his target. This teacher has such low self esteem it has even filtered to our boys
#6 soccer fan no 7 thanks for ther correction cheers
#6 soccer fan no 7 thanks for the correction cheers
Whoa..!!! the classical Zambian malady strikes again- like a bout of involuntary spasmic fits, our prompensity and zeal for disorganisation(and embarassment) never cease to amaze me.
Even if his garden leave(sacking) doesn’t materialise, the mere publication of such statements serves to dampen Monsieur Herve’s moral, any administrator worth his salt should have quickly weighed in refuted this and publicly backed Monsieur Herve.
The timing couldn’t have been more stinking.
Quite honestly if i had way of disowning or even divorcing myself from this thing called Zambia i would have done so- ages gone by.
you know what? there is need for a bit of ‘grounding’ , just accept that we are as a people are mediocre and all this will be easy to swallow ….. there is nothing worse that living in a fool’s paradise
why do you think so highly of yourselves? who told you that zanzibar are minnows? i know of a country south of our border who think that everybody else in africa are footballing minnows; they have had litany of the who is who of expensive coaches, tell me their achievements. quit your delusions!! nonsense!!!!
I feel it is illogical to replace the current technical team at this hour. Let Renard finish his job. appointing a new technical bench will just add more injuries to the current team. FAZ has failed and it needs to be reorganised and bring in fresh blood.
Simple point to all this “when there is no food on the table ,parents are to blame and not children for munching away all what was budgeted.”Herve Renard and his assistants put their winning plans on the table but obviously we all know how they fell apart . We cannot continously blame the players bcoz they only do as they are told .Some of them have won medals at U20 level and even played at world youth tournaments .Surely they are not as bad as it seems .But Renard has failed to manage them even axed some like clifford Mulenga with no room for ending disputes ,am afraid his not the right man for the job . Waste still , this guy lucks confidence not good for the players when he openly sings a song about how he fears Ghana . what sort of a commander is he ? To me , let the 4 coaches rule…
Go Zambia Go, to be defeated, beaten, clobbered, Wired, Roasted.
I love Zambia, “One Zambia?!!!”
Away with Rennard. He leaves the same way Patrick Phiri Left. Why should we worry about this man who does not have confidence in himself and always blames the players. Let us have Zambian Coaches on the bench period. The french man can try elsewhere. We have very good players but the commander is failing. He has no game plan. Even coach of Solwezi Dynamos could do better. The Janzas are doing us proud, yet they are zambian. KALU AND RENNARD MUST GO.
The minister of sport should take action on this Kulusha lead FAZ executive before we take matters into our own hands and man handle this chap enough is enough we do not owe him nothing, you can not manage from across boarders the guy lives in south Africa people open your eyes he will use Fifa to bring Zambian football down with him he has nothing to lose his playing days are gone he is finished that is it.
Like I have said before Renard cant inspire the team any more but I dont think four local coaches will do any wonders. Local coaches have n’t shown their mettle yet and we should be sincere enough to say they cant compete with the best in Africa. They must get trained first. England admitted that their local coaches do not meet standards after one of them greatly embarrassed them. Their new coach has proved what he is made of with a powerful qualification to the world cup. They might even reach the final here in S Africa. We need some drsatic measures for our football to return to pre 1996.
yeah I support every word that webman #11 has said. People need to wake up and realise Zambians are mediocre in a lot of areas. Its once we acknowledge this that we can repair it. Indeed Bafana Bafana cant repair themselves because they refuse to see their shortcomings because of flashes in the pan like the home win of the Nations Cup in 1996. Zambians look at yourselves seriously ten make the first step out of the dump we are in now!
but che this issue of sidelining the technical bench of Renard is very worrying and one that can not be condoned, should this this thing happen then we are heading for total failure and shame.awe kalu nabazanko ganizani munshe nda we don’t want bosebanika kaa enough is enough. coz the African Cup is not like the christmas tournament played in chawama be serious……..elo futi vi cameroon, tunisia vitiyembekeza kaa…..let this thing happen……….TIZAONAKO
It is true that Renard has failed us but i think he tends to do preety well @ tournaments e.g CHAN,during his tenure Zambia has failed to score goals but we have seen an improvement in defence contrary to Patrick Phiriz time when Zambia would score a lot of Goals but conceed many @ da same time.Frankly i think its time to try Wedson Nyirenda or George Lwandamina.
