Herve Renard is expected to name his final 23-man Africa Cup of Nations team at least 10 days before the tournament kicks off.
And the Frenchman has affirmed that midfielders Jonah Sakuhwaha of French Ligue 1 club Lorient and Clifford Mulenga of Mpumalanga Black Aces in South Africa were part of his Africa Cup plans.
“The final list is to be done 10 days before the competition. The rest is speculation,” Renard said this afternoon as the team settle down in Lusaka for the first phase of training camp.
“Jonas is on the list like Clifford.”
Sakuwaha and Mulenga were not on the list that appeared in the press last Wednesday that was unofficially released in the midst of uncertainly over Renard’s future as coach.
Renard’s future as coach was reaffirmed by Faz president Kalusha Bwalya over the weekend and that he will be in full charge, without any changes to his bench, for the Africa Cup tournament.
Meanwhile, the 16 players comprising of home and foreign based players started arriving in camp Sunday ahead of Tuesday’s first full-day of training.
A select few from the 16 players will travel to Johannesburg on December 26 where they will be joined by the rest of the foreign-based players for the final phase of training camp.
Zambia open their Africa Cup Group D campaign on January 13 against Tunisia in Lubango.Â

Our great Kalu has served the technical bench.Welldone our FAZ PRESIDENT those talking bad about you are failures like KAZABU,SIMATA SIMATA whom we tried to put in positions and they ran away.
Thats what its to be the incharge boss great kalu atleast you have proved all speculators wrong who have been pushing to fire technical bench at this crucial moment of going into tournament. Guys go you can do it.
Its sad that some people have still confidence in the FAZ team led by Kalusha. What will it take for the people running football in Zambia to prove that the coach is incompetent???? If my stats are correct the team only managed to score 2 or 3 goals in the world cup build up for south Africa. Is this OK by Zambian standard of football??Do you expect better results from the team with the same guys managing and coaching the national team??
no#5 cmk. what are the standards of zambian football? on a scale of 1-10; where would you place them? i think a 3 would be generous. to be fair though i think our highest might have been around 6 but you see this is still average. conclusion, we have always been an average outfit.

Kalu has shown leadership tho he is the culprit. I should have loved the manchester City scenario to take effect to spare us from heart attacks. Guys I think we need to be serious, it is not just about names here the cardinal issue is results and positive results for that matter. Think of it this way. National team is your company, Can you honestly tolerate this nosense???????????? coming from each tornament?
