The ruling MMD Kasama Central Constituency chairperson Nathan Ilunga says the ruling party risks going into extinction if it continues pretending that all was well.
Mr. Ilunga has however commended MMD acting spokesperson Mike Mulongoti for being sincere when he ( Mr. Mulongoti ) observed that the ruling party lost both the Kasama and Solwezi central constituency by-elections because of losing touch with the glass root.
The MMD official said this in a release to ZANIS in Kasama today. He added that he fully agrees with the statement by Mr Mulongoti in which he observed that the party has lost touch with the glass root.
Mr Ilunga said the shortcomings in the ruling party were there for all to see and warned that if not addressed, the party should forget about being in power beyond 2011.
He alleged that party structures started dying out during the reign of the late President Levy Mwanawasa as he never funded them.
Mr Ilunga added that had it not been for the personal sacrifice by MMD Provincial Chairperson Griever Sikasote who has funded most party activities in the province, there could be no party at all in the region.
And Mr Ilunga has said President Rupiah Banda should not be judged based on the late Mwanawasa’s legacy as he had his own individual vision.
Mr Ilunga further claimed that MMD founding members were enduring a lot of frustrations as the party has diverted from its original ideals enshrined both in the manifesto and constitution.
Recently MMD acting spokesperson Mike Mulongoti was quoted as having said the loose in the Kasama and Solwezi central by elections was as a result of having lost touch with the grass root.
ZANIS
Whatever the case, but MMD kuya bebele!!!!
“Glass root”, what is this?
now that he has abandoned the levy mwanawasa legacy that he used as a campaign slogan, what slogan will RB use in 2011?
now that he has abandoned the levy mwanawasa legacy that he used as a campaign slogan in 2008, what slogan will RB use in 2011? Zuma legacy?
The MMD is a democratic party that follows democratic principles. This is why the MMD is truly the party of the people.
The MMD has always practiced democracy and this is why in 2016, the MMD would have recorded 25 years in power and will most likely remain in power to achieve Zambia’s economic agenda unless a credible opposition shows up.
The writing is clear for all to see,MMD is on the way out come 2011
” Mr Ilunga has said President Rupiah Banda should not be judged based on the late Mwanawasa’s legacy as he had his own individual vision.” this is utter rubbish chi ilunga. wat do take the 12million zambians for you quack? why then did chi lupiya nyamasoya banda use the name of that decent man levy MHSRIP during the last election? mwanya muleya ba fi colour fyenu .
more over i urge you in the name of God to proceed with your agenda to expel namulambe and mpombo so that the pact can prove its popularity.
kuya bebele………… fi KOSWE IMWE. kulilenifwe chalimo amayanda mwe mpombo otherwise you will end up in chibolya. By the way chibolya is even better mufunika cello ya pa lusaka central.
Why are these people always heaping blame on Levy for all their failures? The man dies more than a year ago. Its time they stood up and became accountable for the waining fortunes in their party!
And they should also remember that Levy wasnt alone in government so whatever decisions were made during his rule whether good or bad were theirs too and not his alone.
This man is a dreamer. He is hallucinating. He is only based in Kasama and in though with reality on the ground. Veteran who sits miles away in the embassy office knows better.
Excuse me! Is it grass root or glass root? Reading the mood that the country is in it is very hard to imagine what the MMD can do to regain the support. It is like the damage it has done to itself is beyond repair. In the next couple of years it will become like UNIP.It will just be holding memorial services in form of card renewals.
This villager called ilunga should concentrate on his farm than insult levy. KOSWEEEEEEEEEEE IWE..
Good afternoon
Reality or not, the fact is that this party has been ruling for way too long in a so called “democratic” state. They feel so comfortable in power that every form of opposition will not be accepted. A change can only bring good to the lives of most suffering Zambians because the next leadership will definately go an extra mile to prove that the change was worth it. I can only appeal to voters to examine their leaders carefully before they cast their votes. The future is in your hands.
MMD is doing a good Job, cant people see development programs
Mr llunga just concentrate on your job on your wife. Your are even mobilising other peoples wives to go on the Streets. YOUR BANDA has really failed Mwanawasa’s Legacy was the best to Follow.BANDA HAS NO LEGACY BUT FULL OF DESTRUCTION
# 2 agreed, please LT ensure spellings and grammar are correct in your articles, it is not the same when we make those mistakes, you are a professional blog now and congratulations for that. If people elsewhere are to take this seriously, please edit your stories before they are posted. “Glass root” and “loose” are easy to catch. It is every media outlet including the post that make these mistakes and personally feel paints a bad picture. Otherwise thanks for keeping us informed.
#13 may, kindly list those programmes and tell us how many of them have improved the standard of living in Zambia so far? I think that most development programmes we read about are jsut/still on paper. There may be some other projects going on as well, but these are so minimal that they’re not making life any better for the majority of Zambians when it comes to basic services like health care, education or even employment opportunities.
Whenever you read about MMD on LT or the Post, is it about development? They are either busy fending off their opponents with bad talk or are involved in controversial political matters. People don’t choose leaders to become the mire and muck of society, or to witness their hotly contested political debates, they elect leaders to get away from poverty.
Ba #13, I think I know what you mean, as MMD, kuya bebele, from 1991, now making 20years, I have not seen any development, only the population raisin everyday, and the MMD, with what they say good programs failing to sustend the people..
Forget about the grass roots, sit down rekindle your fire as others take over…
anyone who says they have not seen any development in zambia is a f.o.o.l.
be objective. silly blogger
i agree. development is either hampered or enhanced. but never stoppped. we need a change. but not PF. hopefully mmd members will defecct to UPND or all MP’s commit suicide. hopefully
What has the MMD done in the 20years they have been in power? Atleast the KK regime can boast of building some infrastructure depite their democratic failings.
At the rate things are going , Zambia will need a military government to instill some displine in the entire government structure.
zambia needs peace..just because you are kubulaya..does not mean we should let a thug like sata to take over NO!,…remember whatever you are seeing now were started by sata and company in MMD
#18 If you are satisfied with the level of development in Zambia, I wonder why you have eloped to the USA then? It is not that bloggers have not seen any development in Zambia, it is the effects and the visibilty of this much talked about development that is being questioned here.
RB is NOT Zambian and as such he has no allegiance to social and economic development of Zambia. RB comes from Zimbabwe, and he has shown all you sleepy Zambians his home village. He keeps sending maize to Zimbabwe bought by Zambian taxpayers. Look at the level of poverty in Zambia. RB is visionless, corrupt, dull, childish, jealousy, a drunkard, sleepy, extremely cruel and a child molester (how old is his wife; a quarter of his age; that’s his grand-daughter). Now, Zambia deserves better; surely we CANNOT have such animal for president!
Ilunga, your comments are mixed. In one vain you are condemning Levy for not funding the party organs, you are ignorant, Katele is the Chief Excutive of the party and he is well and kicking. The MMD have an account (at some bank). The same way you are demosing Levy, after Rupiah goes out of Government next, you’ll be insulting him even more given his mediocrity, lean brainage. I rest my case, “mwane ba MMD kufulangila mu 2011”
LT glass or grass root?
Sorry that it is getting late and worse
