First Lady Thandiwe Banda has donated assorted food stuffs worthy over K1.5 million to the mothers shelter at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).
Presenting the donation on her behalf, Wife of the Vice President Ireen Kunda, Mrs. Banda said it is important for people to share the little they have, with the under privileged in society adding that there are more blessings in giving than receiving.
The First Lady said the donation at the shelter is aimed at helping mothers who are taking care of their loved ones admitted to the Hospital.
And speaking when he received the donation on behalf of UTH Management, Acting Deputy Managing Director Dr Gordon Silumbe thanked Mrs. Banda for the donation.
Dr. Silumbe said the donation will go a long way in helping the mothers at the shelter.
He said giving, especially to the less privileged, brings hope to them.
Items donated included 10 by 25 KG bags of mealie meal, 20 packets by 2KGs of sugar, cooking oil among other items.

Thandiwe, stop pretending that you feel for the less priviledged, you are being hypocritical and insincere. Do you realise that when you fraudulently and shamelessly continued to draw salaries after resigning from your job you were robbing and hurting the very people you call less priviledged. If I were you I would be very careful with what to say to Zambians, we have not forgotten what you did.
isn’t she in Mfuwe? The mother’s shelter needs amenities like proper beds, linens and bathrooms not a one time food donation.
Imwe bantu, whats K1.5 million worth of foodstuff to lots of people. Thats actullay a food budget for a family of 4. LT please this is not even worth as news to write home about. Some people drink that much in a night and this is what someone has to donate to lots of people in need. Stop mocking people pliz. On lighetr and very rare note, i think for once Thandi really looks nice in that attire. Hope she keeps it up!
What do pilots say? – any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. I think the same goes for donations. Giving tokens is still giving. The question each one of us should ask ourselves is what have we given?
please this is not news LT ..please about $200 has become a national news please be serious.. # 3 you are right
take tht 1.5 million n swipe it down yo ANUS! total insult ka $250 ata
Is it REALLY 1.5m or is it 15m? I spent over 1m on a night out for drinks with a few mates the last time I was in Zed! So how could this ridiculously low amount benefit a ‘mother’s shelter’? She must be ‘avin a larf! C’mon Thandie, you could easily flog just ONE of your newly acquired Louis Vuitton hand bags, if you REALLY wanted to make a difference! Get real! Ala!
Iwe chi #4 You said the same thing last year when this woman donated round about the same figure. Bwamba bobe what is K1.5m even to you? That is money for a night out chigili iwe.
Thandie should donate more. This 1.5M ZKwacha is a meagre $300. Start being serious mune.
Thandiwe, thank you for the donation. Please we need the money you stole from Ministry of Education as a Ghost Worker. Don’t tell us this is part of it. That money belongs to the MoE. So, please surrender the stolen money. It could have helped some school somewhere in Vubwi or Kaputa. Oh by the way you donated &350.00 only. That is really a donation from a THIEF who is a first lady. I don’t know how it feels to be called Lady but at the same time you stole from the people calling you that. Shame.
kwena umwakashi uyu mwaice mumano, no ku pwa ku bakote kwine! 1.5 million kwacha eyo ulechita publicise, do u realise that some pipo donate large amounts of money silently. cud someone tell me is it rugs to riches? never mind it will not last, soon u will be leaving state house, ask abena betty, vera and maureen. some tried but it didnt work for them and this is no other than regina mwanza.
any form of donation is welcome. but my question is why do these ladies only donate when they are in state house? we have now examples of former first ladies who cant even donate a bag of mealie meal. so the whole issue here is that corrupt elements only donate to sitting first ladies who turn donate to the general public in return for favours. if these donations are genuine, why are former first ladies all over donating to the under privileged during this festive season? tukamona ba banda nga bafumapo if you will even aford a K1.5m donation
Thandiwe you have tried your best you can only do what you can. my advice is that ikalafye ku plot 1 and enjoy mwaice abantu tabatasha. away from the public you will not lose any thing until when your time will be up.
It is interesting how they stop their ‘good deeds’ once they leave State House. Remember the Maureen Mwanawasa Community Initiative? Could it be because they no longer have access to tax payer’s money which they so unashamedly use as a campaign tool for their husbands? Uh, I wonder.

You should have waited to sober up a bit before posting your comment or better still go post at Zambia online where retards like VETERAN are free to post nonsense.
all you haters! Thandie makes many donations and let’s face it K1.5M in basic commodities is better than nothing at all. Zambia is a very poor country and a gesture like this should just demonstrate that people should help out where they can no matter how little. Some of you guys are unecessarily abusive – there really isn’t a cause for that.
All you haters, stop complaining and donate if you can……Leave her alone, she may have donated K1.5m which could be a start for others to also make a donation if they care at all…..You who all feel the donation is not much, why dont you donate more than her and shut the F***up!!!
