Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) Lusaka Province Chairman William Banda has challenged MMD party officials to work hard in order to improve the living standards of the people in the province.

Mr. Banda says people in the province want to see their elected leaders in various portfolios of the party working hard to develop the province and the country as a whole.

He says Republican President Mr. Rupiah Banda is hard working and needs to be surrounded by hard working people that would help him foster economic growth in the country.

Mr. Banda was speaking in Kafue today when he addressed party officials.
He also thanked the people of Kafue for voting for the MMD candidate Ozzias Banda in the November 19, 2009 Chisankane ward by-elections.

He stressed that people should not hold party positions if they were not prepared to work because leadership was all about working hard to better the lives of the people.

The MMD Lusaka Provincial Chairman warned party officials at ward, district and provincial levels against engaging in confrontations over party positions but to work together for the good of the people.

He urged the new councilor of Chisankane ward to work hard and ensure that he addresses the many challenges people in his area were facing.

Meanwhile, Chisankane Ward Councilor Ozzias Banda pledged to work hard in fostering social and economic development for the people of Chisankane.

Mr. Banda said in an interview that the MMD government was committed to ensuring that the living standards of people in the country are raised and would not relent in its efforts to ensure that poverty is eradicated in the country.

  1. It is soothing for an MMD official in William Banda to acknowledge that his peers should not only work hard but also help their president to redirect the Country towards speeded development. Well done for being honest.

  2. Why are there so many Bandas all of a sudden? Anyways, I can only support the call for hard work because without it, there is no reward.

  3. This is the Banda who ‘fled’ to Malawi after FTJ wanted to ‘eat’ him. Yes this name is everywhere you step, it is all-over. Even the Sibandas are now Bandas.

  4. In that case I will rename myself Nine Banda…I might just get a top job in the government. LOL!
That was a goodnight joke – I’m out for today. God bless you folks…

  5. As it were in 2001, 2006 and 2008 so shall it be in 2011.Every devoted and relevantly engaged patriotic Zambian with MMD membership knows that ‘Banda is our final candidate’ and will deliver on this task and vow.We pay allegiance to the flag, the country and MMD’s collective choice for continuity with RB.Gambling with retarded unpatriotic based on their hallucinations is treasonous. Those who doubt our collective resolve are free to go because they are irrelevant in the our campaign trail of 2011.We need only a core of clearly screened and vetted loyal patriots and not fliers-by-night surrogates for the 2011 victory over-drive.We will deliver and obliterate everyone. From the convention through 2011, we will move with an electrified loyal membership into victory.

  7. Yep # 2, that is the same notorious thug from Kaunda’s days. What does he know about anything? Recycled crap, he just needs to go back to his village.

  8. This is the problem we have been sadlled with as a country. Too many recycled good-for-nothing ploiticians. unfortunately, this starts from the President himself, thru to pipio like VJ down to rifrafs like this same William Banda. When young guys like Namulambe or Shakas voice their opinions they are promptly shut up or even fired!

  9. Finally Veteran Senior Citizen Observer Ben Kangwa’s brother is out. William the Chief Vigilante of UNIP. This is real UNIP at work, and you expect development in Zambia. Wako ni Wako. Forget One Zambia, One Nation.

  10. Hope this man does bring back the vigilantes, he still owes me one for being roughed up by his VGs in Kamwala, a Banda run!

  11. The president is Banda, the Lusaka province MMD Chairman is Banda, now even down to Chisankane Ward Councilor it is Bandas everywhere! No wonder the people of this country are mad, these chaps suddenly think that the only people who can lead are the Kumawas when we all know that some of them are the epitome of laziness, corruption and stinking nepotism.

  12. This is the same Banda who was deported to Malawi by the Chiluba government who has brought him back? He will go back when RB IS OUT STATE HOUSE THIS NONSENCE

  13. A Tribalist will always see tribalism in everything. It amazing. Suddenly the Family LPM tree has vanished and now all they see is Family Banda tree everywhere. If a Tonga become president they will see Tongas everywhere. If a Bemba become president they will see Bembas everywhere and if Lozi becomes president they will see Lozis everywhere.

Let me break it down for you. William Banda and all the Bandas you are mentioning were in MMD under the leadership of LPM. Specifically William Banda came back from Malawi and joined MMD under LPM’s leadership. The only people that the president has fired who had families ties to LPM is his nephew. The rest still hold their positions. In parastatals it is only ZESCO former MD. To be continued…

  14. Surely if LPM family tree was everywhere, the firing of just two people can’t wipe out his family tree that was everywhere. So please people, be objective and don’t be swayed by these tribalists hell bent of creating a problem that is not even there, but just in their imagination and perception. As they say, if in your mind you decide to buy a Mercedes benz, you will suddenly start noticing Mercedes benz everywhere. Not that they were not there, but more because you motive and perception has changed and suddenly you are taking notice of things you never took notice of and that is exactly what is happening on this Bandas everywhere disease. Just a perception

  15. #18 Great liar, William Vigilante Banda became Lusaka MMD chairperson after RB became a president, just like Chifumu Banda became national sports council chair etc notice the key name Banda etc

  16. ELECTORAL Commission of Zambia director Dan Kalale has been admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) following an illness.
UTH public relations manager Pauline Mbangweta confirmed that Kalale was admitted to the hospital’s H10 ward behind the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) four days ago.
Mbangweta could not however disclose Kalale’s illness.

Can’t we, for the life of me, see this man at Mutumbi, please?

  17. William Banda, when he was senior governor for Lundazi in 1990/1, he used to whip MMD supporters. The records are there for all to see. Today, he must be more MMD than those he whipped sure?

  18. How do you expect wack or crap leaders to put in work. These type of individuals who lack visuals, there mind is a residual. You’ll never succeed in idealizing hard work. Before you can dig mother earth you’ve got to take off your ideal jacket. The harder a man works, at brute labor, the thinner becomes his idealism, the darker his mind.I have never heard of thugs trying to put in work apart from dealing and stealing. This is a consequence of poverty, positions are held as a gateway to public funds. In the first place wrong pipo are sitting on wrong positions, the best MMD can do is to undergo some extinction,a bunch of failures…

  19. MMD BOOTLICKER I THINK YOU ARE A CRAZY CHAP YOU MEAN YOU DON’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT WILLIAM BANDA AND HIS PAST DOINGS IN UNIP SUCH PEOPLE CAN NEVER BE FORGIVEN IF YOU ARE A BANDA YOU MIGHT AS WELL GO TO HELL MATE!

  20. #26 Maybe you need to examine your head before you call me crazy. What is wrong with you PF cadres. Is it lack of education or analytical skills or just plain old lack of reading and understanding skills. If you need help in reading, I can e-mail you Jelita & Mulenga or Kalumbi Banda’s text books for reading practice. I have them in PDF format. By The Way it was not RB who produced Kalumbi Banda’s text book.

I was not addressing William Banda’s past record. Whom am I to judge him. I was addressing the perception that there are too many Bandas in the public institutions and that is the point that you need to attack me on and not William Banda’s past history. We all have dark sides and if you have never committed any sin be the first one to cast a stone at William Banda

  21. ZAMBIA’s Special Envoy to the Great Lakes Region (GLR) Dr Siteke Mwale has urged Zambians to guard against careless populist talk because it has the potential to stir civil strife and erode investor confidence.
Speaking during the recording of a television programme ‘Culture re-modelling’ in Lusaka yesterday, Dr Mwale said the careless talk by some people seeking popularity is worrying because of its offensive content.
He said other people are merely being used as mouthpieces to say things they do not intend to.

Steak (Siteke) Mwale, son of Pork (Poko) Mwale, father of Fish (Fisho) Mwale, nkhala tyala ddu. Just keep your job. We know when we want to kick out a sh*tty prezza.

  22. Am very astonished with the behaviour of Mr kaanda does he has respect for members of MMD or does he think that anyone who speaks against MMD’s wrong doing is against MMD? I have observed that the issue in MMD to day is on late Mwanawasa’s legacy. it appears they have no agenda for President Banda other than that of the Late to me this shows how they have failed to run the country. The late president never cried about the legacy of Chiluba he started his own although he had a thought of what Kaunda did. But for the current government it’s all about the late presidents legacy that they cry about..

  23. Slogans “William Banda has challenged MMD party officials to work hard in order to improve the living standards of the people in the province.” What in the world does that mean? most people like to stress empty slogans without puting a plan and suggesting a plan of action. Let me simplify this, you first tell these so called leaders, here is our plan of action as Government directed at fighting poverty, illeteracy etc, here is what i expect you leaders to do to get funds and this is where i want this money and human resources to be applied to and then as a leader you follow up and see if there is any progress.Simply saying, work hard..blah blah means nothing. Zambians, please ask questions that mean something and not just words that dont serve you nothing.

  24. I have yet to see any Zambian Politician go through a serious stress and debate test to see what they are made of.I also blame our only independent Newspaper the Post for just being there to target every president without laying out solutions.
We all know and assume that our current leaders are incompetent from our head of state down to the lowest employees but does this mean we should just get angry and boot them out of power without addressing this questions, ” why are our leaders incompetent when it comes to Governing our nation? What course of action should we take to root out incompetency in Goverment? who should be elected to office and why? is our constitution serving any purpose at all to direct our system towards real change? and build on more better questions.

  25. Ghostdog i hear brother, I’m very much conteplating of going home. We are actually dull to have this kind of leadershipni our midst

  26. William Banda talk is typical UNIP days talk. Everyone would echo “work hard” from head of state to section Chaiman without anyone addition any value to the empty call. This is one of the reasons we kicked UNIP out. Obviously, they’re back!
