Luena Independent Member of Parliament, Charles Milupi has challenged opposition political parties not to direct their energies on removing the MMD from power but offer practical solutions that will improve the economy of the country.
And Mr. Milupi has said politics of insults being perpetuated by some political leaders is not helping the country to move forward.
He says politicians aspiring to lead the country should convince the voters by defining their plans to move the country economically as well as programmes aimed at reducing poverty.
Mr. Milupi who was speaking in Mazabuka when he featured on radio Mazabuka’s Live Wire programme yesterday said it is disappointing to note that politicians are instead engaged in trading insults without offering solutions on how they are going to revive the economy once voted into office.
He said he had a discussion with the PF-UPND leadership but declined to join the pact because of the different visions for the economic development of the country.
Mr. Milupi explained that until the agenda for the pact is reviewed, he would not join the PF-UPND pact.
He said among the issues he raised were that he would only join a political party with national wide support and that gives confidence to the people.
Mr. Milupi urged Zambians to be careful with some political leaders engaged in trading insults at the expense of defining what they are capable of doing to improve the economy.
He warned that while some political parties have huge support, Zambians should not experiment leadership because some leaders may plunge the country into serious economic problems which will be difficult to handle.
Mr. Milupi who openly declared that he is capable of running the affairs of the country, however said, a new political grouping to be launched soon is an alternative to ending the high poverty levels and under development in the country.
Meanwhile, a named senior provincial PF leader and an MMD party official were spotted at radio Mazabuka and offered a lift by Mr. Milupi to a secret place where they had lunch together.
The PF official had difficulties to accept that he was a PF provincial executive committee member when asked by the presenter of the of the programme.

Sata praises Mugabe says he is his iconic mentor and model
Zambian opposition leader Michael Sata has praised the policies of Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe.
Sata, an illiterate populist who dropped out of school in Zambia’s federal Government sub 2 has been exploiting the popular discontent from day one with government economic policies and more the cases of Chiluba’s regime members from the bemba tribe.He has been calling the MMD Government as merely persecuting the the Chiluba camp because they are bembas. He has since pledged to drop all charges..
Sata has opened declared that would follow similar economic and land reform policies to Mugabe in neighbouring Zimbabwe.
“What Robert Mugabe has done is sensible,” a grinning Sata (72) has told reporters “Mugabe hasn’t roasted any white persons. He has just taken back what belongs to Zimbabweans.”
Sata commonly known locally as “King Cobra”, has said he rejects the notions that Mugabe was mistaken to have seized white-owned commercial farms to give to landless blacks, a policy many economists say has helped drive once-prosperous Zimbabwe to its knees.
“Mugabe hasn’t done anything wrong. It is the imperialists, the capitalist roaders who say he is a villain,” Sata has said. “The people of Zimbabwe are not suffering. They are much happier.”
Sata has kept repeating his threats that his administration would get tough kick out all foreign investors out of Zambia the Zimbabwe and Uganda’s Dada Idi Amini way.

Anyway, the Zambian constitution does not provide for an independent Presidential candidate so its nice that you have decided to form a political party. Hopefully not a tribal grouping.

RB will continue ruling. He has the support of two former presidents; KK and FTJ. These two will help him go through without any problems at all. VJ will cause confusion in the opposition pact by creating some unnecessary divisions. Kunda will tell HH that he is being fooled by Sata and only he, HH, can lead the pact. People will be divided, votes will be divided and RB will win by 0.5% of the total votes. First past the line! Zambia will be in more problems and no hope for us the poor. In modern day Politics, the rulling party spends most of their time discrediting opposition politicians,and trying to convince the masses that they are running govnt affairs to the best of their ability,while the opposition is busy trying to convince the masses that they can do better than the rulling party,the rulling party would not take any advice from the opposition,the govnt takes criticism or advice with a pinch of salt…maybe you can tell us sir,since you in the opposition as an independent,,,what sort of advice have you rendered to the govnt…right now almost everyone is advising against the media bill,so far kunda seems to be deaf to that
You need the opposition party to challenge the activties of the ruling party to have checks and balances. You have to be wise to over expose to your ruling opposition party your strategies as they can use it to their benefit to win the election. People like Sata and HH or aspiring candidates should have written books about their achievements, interviews on their belief system, radio interview to help people assess their character. Debates between RB and oppostion leaders on their visions on economy, health, controversial cases etc should be the ones they reveal their plans. That is the media’s duty to help Zambia elect the best leaders.

Well, so Emperor Bokassa, Mobutu, Chiluba, Idi Amin, Mugabe, Nguema, Miyanda, Abacha, Hitler, Pol Pot, Papa Doc Hitler, Nicolae Ceausescu, Botha etc were also appointed by God and should not have been removed from power so Shikapwanya’s logic goes. Ni kumu namizila chabe mulungu, he does not appoint anyone and this is an excuse i.d.i.o.t.s. like “Two Chickens” Shikapwanya use to prolong their useless stay in power. Ba Veteran do not get excited. Milupi ( a good friend of mine) did not mean well. The MMD cannot accept any thing from the opposition , so the only way Zambia can improve is for some one to remove this MMD out of power. Milupi should first outlined the development plan of his constituency and how he has implemented it and the results. A smart leader begins with outlining his performance and how he hopes to build on it to change the bigger perspective of the country. Sata is the only politician who cites what he achieved when he was governor and minister. The rest of politicians like Lungwagwa and Dora Siliya just sing about there qualifications and yet most of them cannot use their knowledge to earn a living but still rely on tax payers to feed them.Its unreasonable not to make removal of MMD objective 1. Looking at Milupi since an article appeared about his profile in the Post last year, he stated that he would consider running for president in 2011. Its not surprising that he spunned the PACT, because he knows he stands no chance to become president in the pact. But, anyway, he should ask AKA with his former party Agenda for Zambia, where is it now? Milupi should just swallow his pride and join UPND. MMD can not be allowed to continue raping our Economy just because Milupi wants to be presido, when they could be easily removed by the PACT.
Milupi was a good chair for the PAC.We can only hope he is able to perform as well or better in other capacities! Sata was govenor of LUDC nearly 20 years ago and whatever achievements he recorded then have since been overshadowed by his recent actions of being the unmistakable face of Chiluba’s third term bid, assaulting innocents in Chawama, stealing party mattresses at Mulungushi, money laundering in South Africa, extortionate policy on China after Taiwan paid him to change diplomatic recognition from Beijing to Taipei, praising Sekuru Mugabe – a beast etc. His recent record is a trail of destruction like a tsunami and to skip this and bring to fore his LUDC so called record is nothing but tantamount to lunacy! How I wish the coverage of Milupi’s interview was more comprehensive than it is here. The interview lasted two and a half hours and the truth is, all the points that people bring up here, he actually addressed. On his achievements- he outlined the developments he has spurred in his constitutency. On why we Zambians should not direct our energies solely on removing MMD- he stated that we risk making the same mistake as we did in 1991, namely, rightly removing the dictatorship but wrongly replacing it in the incapable hands of Chiluba and co. It is does not make sense to suggest that you can improve the economy of this country by merely advising the government. Party in power will never take any advice from Opposition. We know Bo Milupi should just remain in MMD. Making party in eleven hour will not help mother Zambia develop. Selfishness has made this country to be governed by minority government. Bo Milupi, before we give you much more responsibility, kindly tell us what you have done for your constituency. If there is nothing tangible that you have done for the few people that you represent in Luena then dont expect us to entrust the nation in your hands.
This is the first politician to make sense. Bloggers, what are the issues for 2011? Here is one from me; why do you need the army when there are no wars to fight. Can we afford to have an army? Can the money being spent on the army be better spent on providing free healthcare? Why do you need the airforce when the cost of running 1 plane per year can educate thousands. These should be the issues being discussed – allocation and use of limited national resources.
