FDD leadership accused of failing grass root members

FDD President Edith Nawakwi campaigning for RB in 2008 elections

The Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) in Livingstone has passed a vote of no confidence in the party’s top leadership accusing it of failing to organize the members at grass root level.

According to a statement made available to ZANIS in Livingstone today, Livingstone District FDD chairman Allan Shawa observed that the party has been static at grass root level.

Mr. Shawa said the FDD district leadership will soon embark on recruiting new members and form new branches and ward committees in readiness for the 2011 general elections.

“The party is not moving. It is dead at grass root level because national FDD leaders have abandoned the party. They are stuck in Lusaka,” he said.

He said the party in Livingstone will use its own initiative and start organizing the party before the next general election and called on party national leaders to be proactive.

He said FDD official should consider coming in the open and explain the position of the party and the plans for 2010 general elections.

Mr. Shawa further claimed that lack of finances has contributed to failure by the top FDD leadership to reorganize the party at the grass root level.

  1. Oh! Edith! What a waste! You will never be President of Zambia, outside MMD! Go back to MMD for the man who kicked you out is out! Swallow your pride and serve the Zambian people UNDER President Banda. Who knows…?

  2. Typical of all noise deviantes calling themselves opposition to RB and MMD.They are only skilled at barking in the tabloid but disconnected to the grassroot who vote.

    Look at this:

” Kunda is a disaster to the nation – Nawakwi”. Quote

  3. Nawakwi for sure is just ending her career in politics. A person of her nature finds difficulties to be objective and her friends will never trust her. Last year She campaigned for RB now she is a source of insults to MMD. Shame on you Nawakwi!

  4. All the three of them, Banda, Kunda and Nawakwi are a disaster to the nation. And that girl sure, Nawakwi, she took over the leadership of FDD from the Old Chap Gen. Tembo and just sat on top doing nothing while the party structures collapsed. She is a disgrace to all women. Sad though to hear KK calling Mpombo’s observations of Banda’s mediocrity as ‘barkings”. KK should just shut up, he was always critisizing Levy but for Banda, despite moving from on calamity to another, KK has been very silent. We know its the kaca of Omodzi Kumawa. KK will only talk about One Zambia One Nation when it suits him, evil Malawan.

  5. Nawakwi campaigned for RB & MDD because she anticipated good leadership from RB. She felt RB would improve the management of Zambia.

She is now barking at MMD because RB has not performed to her expectations. How do you start interfering in court cases for national plunderers??? Nawakwi is still not very much against RB because she has faith in his capabilities – However, she is against those surrounding him because she knows these are the people spoiling the broth.

The majority of us Zambians who were in UNIP had one slogan of “UNIP NO CHANGE” and this sounded like God given gospel truth. But came 1990 things were bad and all hardcore Unipists had to change (except Kamalondo and the like). So I do not blame Nawakwi for her change of heart – MMD HAS NOT PERFORMED TO HER…

  6. #5 and 6 Please read the article above carefully. You say that Nawakwi is against Banda because he has not performed but what has that got to do with her failure to organise her own party? If anything, the non-performance of Banda as you put it, should be a catalyst for her and her party which should propel them to perform even better in the next elections. If she cant organise her own backyard when in opposition then how does she ever think that she can govern the country? Lets not forget that at one point FDD was a very strong party in Zambia but under her watch it is now a shadow of itself. If anything she should resign and let somebody who can get things done lead the party.
