THE MMD has said it is disturbed by Patriotic Front (PF) national youth secretary Eric Chanda’s statement that he and the opposition party are now a physical and political security of the Roman Catholic Church.
MMD national secretary Katele Kalumba said in a statement in Lusaka yesterday that the Roman Catholic Church was a rational church which had survived ages of social tests since its founding.
Dr Kalumba said the MMD denounced the threats against Father Mwewa by whoever perpetrated them and hopes the law would take its course.
He said the ruling party was at pains to understand the orchestrated encirclement of the Roman Catholic Church in Zambia by the PF.
Dr Kalumba said if the PF had taken over control of the Catholic Church this way, Zambia should be informed by the Catholic archbishop Telesphore Mpundu who the MMD respected and believed to be a national church leader.
He said there were many non PF Catholics countrywide and regretted to imagine church doors being manned by PF cadres every Sunday adding that this matter was too serious to ignore by the church hierarchy and the offer by the opposition party should be rejected.
Dr Kalumba said the security of the church priests was the responsibility of the State and all Church members.
He also said Follie Tembo had been appointed MMD provincial executive deputy chairperson for Eastern Province in an acting capacity subject to confirmation by national executive committee (NEC) taking over from Philimino Banda who had been re deployed to other duties.

Katele is sounding like a voice of reason in MMD and he is trying to unify and make up were RB and his minions and far king up. Yesterday’s article in the post on the media sounds like he does not agree with his vice president. Keep it up. But Call a spade a spade.
Katele is not a bad chap. infact he could have been a better guy to take over MMD. Its just that he demonised by the late LPM’s minions. Infact even the post have always regarded him as a very intelligent character. Anyways what more o you expect in a country were we are going backwards instead of forward. Vigilantes have come back. Thats why even the opposition has no choice but to align themselves with individuals who are being persecuted for speaking the truth.
Sir Al Capone, if only Banda had half the brain Katele has, Zambia would be better. We would not even discuss the issues we discuss on LT today. LPM had to scrap VP position in MMD in fear of Katele Kalumba taking that position. Banda today does not know how people will make choices knowing that Katele is contesting the Presidency of MMD, hence the dilly dallying in the convention matters. Katele today stand as the only elected MMD official and the only way to get rid of him is by having people like William Vigilante Banda in MMD. MMD is in trouble today because of the choices made by LPM. He screwed up this party big time.
Katele should now show Kande that it is Katele in charge by putting the Kasama officials back in office. That will be democracy and ensure that the party constitution is in control.
KaKa, but it is the MMD cadres that are threatening to break people’s legs, not less Fr Mwewa. Please, as MMD national secretary, rein in the acting party president, AlaBee, William Banda and Mulongontweno and others that seem to be insinuating and even perpetrating violence. Zambia is a beautiful country which we should not allow to go up in flames because of a few I.D.I.O.T.S bent on clinging to power like ticks to a cow even when it is dying. Vukani maZambia!

Well PF cant take control over the Catholic Church and that is what we call imposibilities.We dont even need to debate coz that is waste of time.The PF cadres are fighting for their leader whom they believe will develop the nation just as the MMD Caders are doing.In such issues we dont need to mention Catholic Church.It is very clear that every one wants to suport her/his part.By the way what kind of security are you taking about Mr.DR.Katele sir? Dont just say “saddenes MMD” work men! Dont you think sitg doing nothing just talking/sleeping sadden the nation…
Do not be surprised that Katele will be elected as President of the MMD at the Convention. Don’t be fooled, that Katele doesn’t have ambitions. He’s just playing his game in a very very Smart way. Look out for the Convetion PIPO.

I can see Katele is back in full force! Good words big man. Let our beloved church respond…. Why does the PF encircle themselves to the church? Why should I be made to feel like a PF cadre everytime I attend mass on Sunday?
Indeed Katele is an intelligent Chap who with time is gonna get hold of the MMD presidency as most of them will be caught napping. And desoite all hes been through i wouldnt mind him being the country’s president one day looking at the options we have at the moment
Katele understands politics 101.At the previous MMD convention,LPM backed by state machinery supported VJ for the position of National Secretary.The results speak for themselves how VJ was clobbered politically.If Katele goes for the MMD presidency,RB will be taught a political lesson he`ll never forget.Looking at the leadership choices we`re currently burdened with,Katele isn`t a bad option.
If Katele will lead Zambia then I will never come back home coz He is a Nfwiti, indoshi balalowa he was cought with a laptop connected to a frog. he is clever but ni ndoshi. The MMD carders are on the looooos the Police can not touch them. So who is going to protect the weak?????? that’s why the PF kaponyas are providing security where Rb can not do it for everyone.
It is interesting how myopic you people are. How can anyone advocate Katele for MMD President at the Convention? Has Katele been cleared of his cases in Court? Who wore 3rd Term T-shirts during Chiluba’s failed bid? Let’s be serious. As for the PF youths (thugs), the Catholic Church needs to come out clear and soon. The involvement of the Church in genocide in Rwanda is well documented. Security wings need to be alert – in most cases the people themselves have nurtured dictatorships and this is what we are seeing in Zambia where some senior political leaders have stated that they will make the country ungovernable. That is why I miss KK because he would have already declared a state of emergency.
But what I wonder is if the story says that MMd youth cahairman has declared war on everybody who denounces Pr,Banda what is the implications? Does it mean that for sure all our courts are not considered by anybody in Zambia to clear the desputes? It is interesting!

Katele is offering lipservice. Security can come from anywhere provided the guards perform their duties infectively. WHERE ARE LAPTOPS HE HAD??? WHY EVACULATED TO INDIA WHEN HE CAN REACH THERE AT NIGHT?? KATELE NOT FIT TO RULE ZAMBIA ON MORAL GROUNDS ..WITCHCRAFT TO STATE HOUSE ..
