We’re not for Magande – Mazabuka MMD

Share

The ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) in Mazabuka district has refuted allegations that it has endorsed the candidature of Chilanga Member of Parliament Ngandu Magande as the party’s presidential candidate at the forthcoming party convention.

District Chairman, Trywell Himoonga told ZANIS in Mazabuka yesterday that it was not possible for the district to endorse Mr. Magande’s candidature because he had been rejected in Magoye where he hails from.

Meanwhile Mr. Himoonga has said the ruling party in the district is intact despite the dissolution of the district and constituency executive committees by provincial chairman, Solomon Muzyamba.

He said the district has welcomed the decision to dissolve the committees because this will strengthen the party especially when a new leadership is ushered into office.

Mr. Himoonga said contrary to reports that Mr. Magande was the favorite, the district and constituency officials are in full support of President Rupiah Banda as the sole Presidential candidate in the 2011 General elections.

And Mazabuka Central constituency chairman, Davis Bbilika said party officials are only engaged in party campaigns in readiness for the forthcoming party elections.

Mr Bbilika said the party in the constituency is intact and in support of RB.

  1. I have always wondered how Magande can dream of a national constituency of a ruling party when he is rejected in his own village, struggled to win Chilanga seat and for the years he served as Ministry of Finance minister after deserting late Mazoka, he was never onnected to the MMD party structure.

  2. Momentum of winning politics starts at home. This is the chap who was blatantly denying that there is no poverty in this country and had no heart for party responsibilities and members. How will he get to the same structures he rejected and isolated?

  3. Magande is in the wrong boat unfortunately. No amount of talking will endear him to the MMD. Just wasting his time. He better come up with a better strategy fast, or that (the convention) will be the end of him. I actually have one strategic proposal i can offer him just now; Cross over!!

  4. MMD will not block anyone but reject dreamers who bring nothing to the arena. Only the so called PACT believes in the Hose and rider relationship of convenience. Magande like all those Glovers like Mpombos daily insulting MMD in tabloids must introspect and spare themselves from the Kavindele option.Voting delegates will outrightly reject them.

  5. My take is Magnde is a quality leader, I loved the way he was able to articlualte issues and ven identify weaknesses in the Government and his own ministry. But he is not a pipo’s person that makes him unpopular in the Party. He is not as party friendly as RB and is miles area way from the cobra. He is also arrogant and aloof at times with some sighns of a superiority complex.

  6. Number 6 & 7 Ba Moze & Ukwa respectively – Magade should not cross over now. He should come after we have ushered the pact. He should go to the convention and it will be the talk of 2010. The unfair election, MMD youths & Mulongoti’s behavior will be our talk while we are on campaign.

  7. Magande was never with Mazoka that’s just cheap movement for multi dogs propaganda. Can someone prove it that Magande was once UPND. Jus because he is Tonga does not automaticaly make him UPND bakolwe!!!!!

  8. Its unfornate that job seekers like Trwell Himoonga and Davis Bblika are talking against Magande’s presidential ambitions. There is no need to say the entire Mazabuka Central or District have not endorsed Magande. We are not living in stone age times. If Magande feels he hi capable to lead MMD he must be given the chance and delegates at the convention will decide through the ballot. Tghis talk of RB only is not health for democracy. It a well known fact that the list of delegates will be doctored to suit RB so why the fear and block others MMD members who feel they can deliver. Democracy is not all about RB alone. Its all Zambians who qualify to vote freely. That is why our forefathers fought for political freedom. Those practising stone age poltics are enemies to democracy. ABASH

  9. Those who are against Mr. Magande are just wondering in the political wilderness. Do thye really know what they are talking about. Every Zambian has a right of association and movement. The problem of these Tonga guys is they think Magande is there to feed and provide for pipo of Magoye. Any way great pipo are rejected in their own lands. Just like in the bible. Look at Pro. Clive Chirwa, he is doing wonders for the developed world whilst locally we have outright rejected him. We hero worship and listen to the likes of Shikapwasha and Mulongoti etc.

  10. # 14 its because we are used to trash that’s why Alabee, shika and mulongoti are our stars they are the only ones who can serve Zambia not the learnt or people who know how to change the life of Zambians. when you have kaponyas and vigilanties in gorvnment what do you expect they will always support there likes. Those of us who can read something on the net and can see the outside world atleast we know very well that MMD are a banch of …………………..aaa there is no proper word to define them.

  11. Ba Magande, please just stop politics because you are even failing to develop your Area Chilanga. No good roads, no running water in most parts of Chilanga. Then what are you going to do with the whole country if you can fail in a small area like Chilanga.

  12. #17, what area did RB develop before he become president. Which of the firms RB headed is still running today? Its because of people like you that sometimes I have no pity for zambia’s poverty….we deserve it coz we are duft as a people at times!

Can you compare Magande’s achievemnts everywhere he has worked with RB’s failures everwhere? am lost for words….God save Zambia!!

  13. I see 2011 as an election between two TONGA Giants, Magande against HH interesting year it will be….of course this is just a dream.

  14. If I remember correctly wasn’t Magande soundly beaten by RB to become MMD party candidate for the presidential by elections in 2008? His seat in Chilanga was secured for him by the secret services and mrs Mwanawasa. Remember Maureen tried to impose him on the party by saying that he was the chosed candidate of her late husband to replace him though she did not provide any evidence to support her assertion. The Post were behind him becaue of some dodgy deals relating to the debts incurred by Zambian airways. Does not sound like presidential material to me. If he wants to lose again then let him go ahead and stand.
