  1. Lets have minimum education for MPs too. At least a university degrees. These are law makers. You need people in there who can articulate and analyse things. Not just sleeping thru parliament sittings.

  2. So some of these people who shout the loudest are not even educated, look at shikapwasha and chizyuka mere grade 12s (form five), that explains it………i totally support uk-zed observer, we need a degree for MPs.

  3. Thats wy they dont have creative responsebility, they to be creative in their job with great initiative for the development, I agree with # 1 and # 2 someone should ve a degree.

  4. How would you put Grade 9s and 12s with people holding BAs, Masters and PhDs and then expect to reason and work together? The results are lack of development in Zambia. I think we need a minimum qualification for Mps too.

And i didnt think that Gabriel Namulambe and Shikapwasha are just grade 12s…..Mumbi Phiri, preschool teacher…lol Go back to school!

  5. Shame, Shame! on Shikapwaha Shame. He has no CV That why all he does is yap, yap and yap!!!
    yap!!!yap!!!yap!!!yap!!!yap!!!yap!!!yap!!!

  6. Well, it explains the quality, or worse still the lack of it, of the debates in the house. That’s why.

  7. Chi Michael Mabenga ichifyashi chahavafye certificate mu cheating? chikali!

  8. I thought Mr Michael Mabenga had a degree or something kanshi ichifyashi chahavafye certificate mu cheating? chikali!
By voting the way he did at the NCC, it means that he eliminated himself from the presidency. Koma abantu bamo, tetiwishibe.

  9. In fact, there is no need for LT to apologise for the source of this information. All people need to do is visit the Zambian parliament website. This is all there. For your own information, chi Sata chalijoba degree apapene chamwene ati yalazanda. So, the plot is getting thicker and more exciting. Balangebalenge ShiChilufya wesu. Balangize!

  10. Formal education does not always confer wisdom.Leadership and effective management of government requires intellectual skills, creative skills, a moral value system, empathy, decisiveness, experience working with different types of personality types and teams, broad knowledge base, and a sense of purpose and vision.
Most of the MPs on the list you provided have merely rubber stamped legislation without much debate. Their contribution to policy debates show either a detached academia mentality or political cadre mentality. They have not been honest and empathetic to the zambian people because they pay themselves gratuities and yet abolish windfall taxes for profit making mining companies. They lack moral value system and empathy for their suffering constituencies despite their education.

  11. I think be4 voting for someone we should see his or her CV PROFILE so that we should who we are voting he/she is going bring new developments in cities, industries, colleges, universities and in tourism industry, despite having copper in copperbelt there is no even a FIVE STAR in C/Belt chansoni icho kwena kabili chibi?

  12. Formal education is not the key to leadership.Look at Bill Gates,Micheal Dell the list is endless in the United States and all over the world.

  13. Magidi you right.
Just in the name of school, then guys still can not do nothing in zambia everyone is just after money- getting rich SHAME- Even Dr Martin Luther King did not finish High school,

  14. Num13, Bill Gates lives in a developed country where the all the structures are in place. You cannot compare an uneducated person living in a developed world with that of a 3rd world. They are at different levels. For leaders (3rd world) in the modern world to be effective they need some form of good university education. If you have been at university you will know what I’m talking about. There is a lot you learn just at first degree and this should be a requirement for our MPs. How are our MPs going to convince Gordon Brown or Obama that we need investment if they cannot even read their own country budget and how it affects a common man in their constituency?

  15. I now know why we have such high levels of poverty in Zambia. We need qualified MPs who can understand complex legislation. These high school drop-outs should resign on moral grounds.

  16. :((:d/:o:o:o:o ati Preschool teacher, grade nine tell me what they understand during the debts in parliament????????? at least The tongas have a nice team look at Lusaka thats why we dont have development.
Grade nine business woman from selling RAPE PA MARKET TO A MINISTER ONLY IN ZAMBIA, FROM HOUSE CLEANER TO MINISTER :-w

  17. Good source of reference. LT please post this article permanently on your home page to serve as a guide to understand what is happening in our nation. Please include another category for Major National Achievements which can include motions that were moved in parliament and were passed as laws which benefited the whole country, major national accomplishments etc.

  18. i am quite impressed with the qualification potifolio for mps. despite a few grade 12s the majority go beyond professional certificates to diplomas and degrees. this makes a rich combination of people from diverse backgrounds. i think the process has been self regulatory probably because of an informed electorate.voters have shown their inclination towards candidateswith an education or is it political parties that choose educated candidates? tell me bloggers should we still set a minimum qualification for the mps? as for the presidency, first degree should be minimum. we need someone who can analyse issues and understand all these block heads.

  19. @-) i see that’s why they can easily be bought to vote the way they are voting at the NCC.most of our MP’s are of low calibre and stand on unstable principles.LOL

  20. 😕 YABA NOWONDERB INSTEAD OF THEM DEVELOPING OUR COUNTRY IMMEDIATELY THEY ARE IN OFFICE THEY EITHER START GOING TO SCHOOL OR STEALING COS THEY KNOW ONCE THEY LEAVE NO WHERE TO KAYA WANDI

  21. no wonder you find that most of these guys form western province dont contribute anything to the debate, all they do is dose off, the reason why the MMD is heading into doom is because there chairman is a blind person with a simple teachers certificate, he can’t othink development because his knowledge is limited.

  22. no we understand why we have alot of fights and mediocre debates in parley!!such kind of people..can either argue nor stress out points..and thats why they are bootlickers !!lets have a minimum of diploma for an MP…

  23. Its a pity people can easily get carried away by trying to stay in power. All those MPs who were voting for that clause are not even qualified themselves how foolish of them! Honestily speaking most of the MPs we have are not degree holders and hence the need to have a degree as a minimum for one to be an MP since its from these MPs that we want to get a president but as it stands they have eliminated themselves already. How many people can afford a degree in Zambia? Dr Kaunda a teacher governed Zambia quite well but became stupid when he began to think that he is a god of some sort. Leadership has nothing to do the degrees and we can have a great who is not even a degree holder and can still steer development in Zambia. Having a degree does not make anyone a presidential material at all.

  24. Don’t aim at using the paper to assume to power instead used wisdom. While others are men and women of paper Sata is a man of books. The knowledge he has acquired can not be measured by any paper. His knowledge is above masters and equivalent to PhD. Ba lange amano wakwata Dr. Chilufya Sata. Abashala bonnse niba ngweleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

  25. Nanga Kamulongoti? So Shikapuba or sorry Shikapwasha nowander you always try to please your master Kanshi tawa Jober

  26. Education is not just university degree. I totally disagree with the Idea that Michael Dell, Bill Gates etc are uneducated. there are people that have achieved great things in life without formal education. As a matter of fact, the question for us should be how much we have contributed to society with or without our degrees. As graduates whether from our local universities or abroad what is it that we can be proud of as we have done to make our selves better than those that have not been to “UNZA”.

  27. I beloved up to you will obtain carried out proper here.
