The National Dialogue Forum Secretariat (NDF) has proposed an extension of three more days for the forum sittings.

NDF Secretary, Patrick Chisanga says the Chairperson will today submit the request letter of extension period for the Forum, to Minister of Justice Given Lubinda.

Mr Chisanga told the forum this morning, that the request for the extension is to allow the delegates have more days to discuss the four bills, including the secondary issues that have been raised thoroughly.

He said as of end of business yesterday, only one group out of the four, concluded their discussions, the rest are still debating on the political parties bill.

The NDF Secretary also notes that if the sittings were concluded on Saturday, the forum could have not completed their deliberations, considering all the issues raised.

He said when the Secretariat looked at the programme, it became clear that for every bill to be given comprehensive attention, there has to be an extension of the period to Tuesday next week.

Last week, the national dialogue forum requested for a two day extension of the forum to which the Minister of Justice accorded an extension of three days giving the Forum a period of up to tomorrow Saturday, May 11, 2019.

  1. THAT IS WHY WE HAVE A PARLIAMENT AND MEMBERS ARE PAID TO DISCUSS THESE THINGS! This country is on auto pilot, no is in control. Just confusion everywhere

  3. This NDF thing is just nonsense!!Surely,how can a normal person proposes to bring back deputy ministers,jailing for 2 years people who do not sing national anthem,stop voting for mayors,ect?THIS IS PURE MADNESS!!!For once,president Edgar Lungu must show leadership because no Zambian expected this nonsense.
    Amend the following;
    1)public order act,(2) Days to hear the presidential petition,(3)Whether ministers should continue in office once parliament is dissolved or not,(4)Who should act as president once the presidential petition is being heard,etc.THESE ARE THE LACUNAS IN THE CONTITUTION WHICH ZAMBIANS EXPECT NDF TO AMEND and not the rubbish which is being pushed by the Kampyongos!!!AM PF SUPPORTER,BUT I CALL A SPADE,A SPADE!!PF should win in 2021 just like ANC has done in SA,but…

  4. We need a proper constitution which is fair to every Zambian!!!This is not a PF or FDD,NDC,MMD,UPND constitution no.It is a Zambian constitution.Meaning useless articles must not be included in there because other Zambians will complain about those articles and soon or later,we shall have another constitution reforms.SURELY,HOW CAN YOU BE AMENDING A SAME CONSTITUTION FOR OVER 50 YRS?The reason is simple.It is because political parties in power seem to be including articles in their favour.Several PF MPs are fed up of being mare MPs and now want to be ministers and deputy ministers.THIS IS HOW SELFISH AFRICAN POLITICIANS ARE!!with the useless articles which are being pushed there,it is better to shoot down this process in parliament by the opposition MPs because all Zambians can only…

    • Very true. We need to do something as ordinary Zambians . We can’t allow these selfish people to make such important decisions on our part. All MPs from all parties are just the same looking out for their interests. Shame!!!! Unfortunately we have learned Zambians just keeping quiet. What’s wrong with us kanshi???

  5. Continue…
    because all Zambians can only support progressive articles in the constitution and not the nonsense being pushed in there by pro PF members!!

  6. Okay, give them not two more but five more days up to Friday. If they finish earlier they can debate the economy, or even discuss Trib.al Hacks.
    Or they can discuss the punishment for the trib.al MPs who stayed away. Would be nice for all the trib.al rot to be expelled from parliament
