The opposition Patriotic Front (PF) says the PF/UPND pact is not shaken by the defection of more than 20 of its members to the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) in Lusaka’s Munali constituency.
PF Spokesperson Given Lubinda told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that the pact is not shaken because there are more people who are willing to join them.
Mr. Lubinda said members defecting from the pact to join the MMD would regret their decision in 2011 claiming that the PF/UPND pact will emerge victorious in the general elections.
He said those who are leaving the party for the MMD do not realize that the PF/UPND pact was the rightful party with a vision.
More than 20 members of the opposition PF/UPND pact on Saturday left their parties to join the ruling MMD while over 80 more are said to have indicated their intentions to leave their parties and join the MMD.
ZANIS
Dont Worry we have over 1000 who have joined us from MMD in Lufwanyama in Kalulushi
Lets see which party has more defections?:-?
only the general election will tell which party is popular, abash stage managing ifi ma defections.
long live PF/UPND pact they are very worried that soon they will leave their offices and stop going to mandahill.
Mr lubinda do not worry, these people are MMD members claiming to be PF, afterlow 1000 MMD members have joined the pact from lufwanyama and Clive Chirwa has joined the pact. You never know those people were paid to say that.
# 1 …….1000 my foot!…in an area with population of less than 700
No need to cry over spilled milk and defecations mean that there is something we are doing wrong smewhere as a PACT which does not make everyone happy. Politics is about numbers and don’t lose supporters. Mind you Chiluba is on the ground and the involvement of KK in the MMD camp send serious threats that you are keep on your heels to maintain members or else 2011 inga pite nayo.
there is no evidence that the defectors were members of the pact.
#1 ..I agree with you where did they get the 1000 people? its Lubinda and the group who cheating. Infact they are cheating themselves and those shallow thinking followers most of whom are not registered Voters but just participate on the Net. be on the ground to see what is happening. Don t cheat people that there will ever be a party which come in Power and finish problems or poverty. Jesus Christ with due respect came -found problems and left them till he comes again.Lets be honest with ourselves and our Country. What has Lubinda done for the People of Kabwata?? Mumbi Phiri in Munali?? Willie Nsanda in Chimwemwe?? and many more vocal Pf MPs have failed and will loose terribly. I will not argue with those who letf Zambia for studies or other reason for they depend most on the Post’s lies
When Chiluba supported Sata it was all ok for Lubinda and other hypocrites. Today he is a perceived finished Politician because He has picked another candidate. FTJ show them that 2011 is not for jokes. RB has been honest you can run a country where only the interest of Fred Mmembe is paramount than any other Citizen No No!! Lets treat all human beings with respect.
2011 will be more interesting as the looser will be HH, his Mps are safe because they will get back there seats and keep quite
#…6 I meant to agree with # 6 not 1..cheers
kamboni mutima I know where am going to cast my vote. I will eat the money and buy the council flat or chiness built house at masala complex. After all its mya tax! :d
False confidence is destructive. You have no idea what MMD is doing.I want to say that in some places in Zambia do not know whether the pact exists.Even in urban areas where MMD had lost popularity today they can even identify themselves with the MMD.Keep dreaming while actualize our popularity every part of Zambia.
One cannot afford to look away when you have small number of people are defecting, these small numbers in the end can make a huge difference, thats how MMD lost in solwezi
Without talking of some outlayers around the country sides, just in Lusaka constituency the PACT is in big problems because people are not interested in insults of ages but issue. Not only this challenge, the Lusaka demographics are not in favor of insulting leagues.H.E President Banda, Provincial Chairman William Banda and the assembled MMD campaign team on the Grounds are seasoned Lusaka Grassroot magnets.Sata understand better that RB and William Banda have lived their lives in the Grassroot politics of Lusaka and are electrifying political actors too connected to the Grassroot than any player in contemporary Zambian politics. With campaign time at hand, he knows the damage the PACT will take in Lusaka compounds like Bauleni, Mtendere, Misisi,Chaisa,Mandevu, Matero,Ng’ombe & Kanyama.
Ping pong cadres. That is the political scenario in Zambia. They turn to the bed where there is money.
An I.d.i.o.t’s guide to the brown envelope.
1. Pay K10 million to an obscure party leader.
2. Sponsor more opposition parties to divide the opposition vote.
3. Pay unpopular politicians to criticise you.
4. Check out those politicians with poor bank balances and set ZRA on them.
5. When they come running to you, flash a brown envelope!
HH is facing an internal revolt as many senior members are at a loss of how to treat Michael Sata. They wonder if the electorate will accept their new turn around!
Others are so fearful of the Pact floating Sata as a presidential candidate that they predict that the UPND would lose the voters in Southern Province to the MMD.
Further the position of Southern Province Chiefs on the Pact is a dangerous factor to its survival. The Chiefs have promised to support the Pact only if HH is allowed to be the Pact’s presidential candidate!
However in the event that Sata is made as the Presidential Candidate, the Chiefs have threatened to shift their support to the MMD as memories of the North – South Alliance are still fresh where Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula (a Southerner)was persuaded to support the Presidency of Kenneth Kaunda (a Northerner) in 1964 and in 1973. They Chiefs insist that the Pact presents an opportunity for Bembas to return the favour and allow them to provide Zambia with a Tonga Presidency!
And Chief Mwanachingwala of the Tonga people in Mazabuka has denounced Mr Hichilema for allegedly lying to the people of Southern Province that he was going to contest the presidential elections in 2011.
The chief said all the people of Southern Province know that Mr Hichilema is going to lead the UPND/PF pact in 2011.
Chief Mwanachingwala challenged Mr Hichilema to announce his position on the matter now that Mr Sata declared his intentions of standing in the 2011 elections.
The chief said Mr Hichilema must tell the people of Southern Province the truth about his ambitions.
Chief Mwanachingwala accused Mr Hichilema of having indirectly sold the people of Southern Province to the PF through the pact.
“What we all knew here in Southern Province was that Mr Hichilema was going to lead the pact. Now that Mr Sata has declared himself presidential candidate, Mr Hichilema must have read and heard, he must tell us the truth because he told us that he was going to be the one. When I spoke with you last time, they called me names,” Chief Mwanachingwala said.
The traditional leader revealed that soon after predicting the collapse of the PF/UPND Pact, Mr Sata called him to complain about the story.
“After you spoke to me, Mr Sata called me and read the whole story to me. I did not dispute anything but I asked Mr Sata what his motive of forming the pact was,” he said.
patriot only dull heads convinced by your dull postings. we have heard this nonsense already so stop wasting your time.

Crossing back and forth from one political party to another seems to be serious business in Zambia. Why can’t people move across party lines without having to be in the news? A lot of Zambians do not seem to have much else to do, really. What is so special about moving from the pact to the MMD or vice versa. I personally vote across party lines depending on the issues being advocated by different political parties involved in elections … may be I am one of the very few Zambians with such “abnormal” political behaviour!
Pepe Kale!,
But even you cadres in the Diaspora are doing it right here.Look at Clive Chirwa literally carrying full page of the Post unnecessarily.Who cares if MMD has disowned his imposture?
