Magande denies ever endorsing RB as MMD’s sole presidential candidate

Share

Former Minister of Finance Ng’andu Magande says he was not part of the MMD National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting that endorsed President Rupiah Banda as the sole candidate at the forthcoming National Convention.

Reacting to MMD National Chairman Michael Mabenga who said he was part of the MMD National Executive Committee that received and endorsed petitions from provincial committees that President Banda be the sole candidate at the National Convention, Mr Magande has blatantly refused being part of any such meeting.

Mr Magande who is also MMD Chilanga Member of Parliament has since challenged Mr Mabenga to produce the minutes of the meeting to show that he was part of the said meeting that endorsed Mr Banda as the sole candidate.

  1. maganda you should be careful otherwise you will end up mu muganda! this is mmd! they will suck you bang you and clear you. basop. deuces :)>-

  2. LT – Please provide us a full story of Mabenga saying Magande was part of the committee that endorsed RB. If magande was there, did he endorse or not. Magande cannot endorse RB by all means. Its not a suprise to hear that he has refuted those alligation. It will be a headline that Magande has endorsed RB for MMD 2011.

If Mabenga said this, then he must be …………………………….

  3. Zambian politics, full of crap and childish. No wonder Zambia is not developing. The polticians exert all their energy attacking each other on trivial matters meanwhile people are suffering. Please talk about poverty eradication, infrasture development, education etc. We are seek and tired of Chiluba Vs Sata, HH Vs Mulongoti, RB VS Mpombo, please give us a break. 😮

  4. There is no way Magande would ever endorse Rupiah as sole candidate. Anyway, Mabenga the source of this lie is a criminal who is on bail for theft and his day in court is not far away.
How can you talk of sole candidate in a democracy, this is proof that MMD is a dictatorship.

  5. #2 Bo Litunga

The story is just under the list of related stories. The first one. Othewise, I agree with #3 its boring. Why doesn’t Magande just join the PACT like Prof Chirwa. Does he really think he can be president in MMD? He is misguided if he habours those ambitions. The game is over it it time to just move on

  6. THE PROBLEM AT LT IS THAT STORIES ENDS WHEN THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE CONCLUDED. PLEASE, FOR FUTURE STORIES BLOGGERS CAN ONLY COMMENT WHEN THEY ARE WELL INFORMED OTHERWISE IT’S LIKE READING THE HEADLINE.

  7. This is all very very annoying. Zambian politics has reached a low that it can only be described as gone to the imbwa! Why are there so many accusations and counter accusations and lies, false hoods, innuendo and rumour? It is a very simple thing to confirm that someone attended a meeting. Why didn’t Mr Mabenga do that when he first made the charge. To be honest, I have come to conclude that of all the current crop of politicians, none at all are fit for office, except General Miyanda. He is the only person who has conducted himself impeccably. Some come in clean, like HH, but sooner or later they are all smeared with amafi and smell just the same. I pray that God may clean up the WHOLE mess and give us REAL politicians that will deal with problems and not trivia! Lord here us.

  8. There as too much politicking in Zambia at the expense of development.Everybody wants to become a president. We know there is a lot to gain by becoming president, and desperation is with the older guys who are trying everything they can summon to help convince the people.
Mind you Magande, Sata, HH and a whole lot of you , Zambians are no longer sleeping , the reason we do give RB sleepless nights is that we dont want to be lied to anymore.
I appeal to all young Zambians to unite , identyfy a good young Zambian with leadership qualiyies and lets shame all these old folks.

  9. #14 Busakile Man, amen!
That time is coming soon, keep your head up. The person you seek will not come like a king, but will duel in a small constituency before making his/her way to the national stage…keep the faith, while doing everything you can to play your part..

  10. What Mabenga should have said – or may be he was misquoted is that the MMD NEC endorsed RB as the sole candidate. Now it is possible that some voted against the motion or were absent but a quorum was formed and the voting proceeded. The rest become details.

  11. It absolutely does not make any sence that Magande should endorse Bwezani, just how? Sometime one honestly wonders about how stable some of these so called MMD leaders are mentally. Mabenga’s statement is as laughable as claiming that VJ is not, like Tiger Woods, addicted to perpetual promiscuity because he has self confessed to this addiction and even gone to the extent of writing a book about it. Same with Magande, the man challenged Banda for the top job last time and he has since then been talking of unsitting Bwezani so hos this could mean endorsing Bwezani in Mabenga’s world vexes me deeply and makes me doubt that man’s sanity!

  12. RB and his gang of thieves lie because they realize that Zambians are simple people that can be fooled. they are just trying to muddy the water… as for those who are talking against Magande, remember that the only good times Zambians have had was when he was Minister of Finance. what I cannot understand is how easily Zambians forget the facts.

  13. further, for those who say Magande is not a good fit for Republic President, let me ask this question; if all the people that Zambians keep electing are thieves, how do you all expect to get different results? Magande may not have a political machine but he is the best finance and national planning manager Zambia has ever had, and this is the man you all are talking bad off… how foolish!

  14. Without the likes of Magande, Zambia will be doomed to repeat her mistakes and therefore will never lift herself from poverty. It is truly amazing that the majority of Zambians do not understand that Development of any nation will require excellent management and diplomatic skills, not nose making and thievery as is apparent in with the current government. For the sake of Zambians, I pray that they see the light in Magande; he lead 100+ nations successfully as Secretly General of ACP (go look it up) so why do you all think he cannot manage to lead Zambia down a path of success?

  15. MAGANDE is Zambia’s only hope for a better future or you all can re-elect the crook now in office or the UNIP/PF gang (that wants to deport all of the non-Zambian business people) and live with the consequences.

  16. I predicted that RB was a rat and was bad for Zambia after PLM death, and I am predicting again that if MMD does not elect Magande at the convention all the people in MMD will regret their move as MMD will lose the 2011 election. And God help us all if Sata becomes president, there will be blood in the streets; because like Mugabe, he still thinks we are fighting the Colonists and do not fully understand what it takes to build a nation.

  17. Great stuff Magande on your data. It is good to tell the truth to the Nation. This terrible “Sole Candaite for 2011 presidential election” thing is bad not only for MMD but for Zambia. Democracy means means people must be able to compete and win elections nicely without hindering their competitors for positions or more rightly opponents in our current Zambian political setup.

Have a blessed day you all.

  18. I agree with one of the bloggers,General Miyanda could be a good presidential candidate for the pact.We could also look at people like Patrick Chisanga,Caleb Fundanga,Willa Mungomba,Norman Mbazima a top director in Angloamerican and was partner at pricewaterhouse coopers.
